save a special day/big party for your wedding or something more special than just a bday party (also take the money that you would have spent on a sweet 16 and go travel to europe when you turn 18 instead... that'll have everyone be jealous af)

It's a ceremony to celebrate the coming of age for girls in the US. For Latinas/Hispanics we celebrate quinceañeras which occurs when you're 15. I didn't have one simply because it's kinda unheard of for Afro Latinas to have one and also I wanted to wait until I turn 16 to celebrate my golden birthday as well
