as you can see by yourself. in this era, motogp is not that competitive compared to today. what i mean is by looking at the grid, we only got rossi lorenzo stoner and pedrosa back then with ben spies, dovi and nicky sometimes join in too. another factor is that factory and satellite bikes is just like earth and space, its incomparable. but when we are looking what we have today, you have half of the grid already ever being a world champion at least once in any category, 14/24 rider ever won a motogp race and everybody ever won a race in every category. Massive kudos to how's the sport is improving
It could be right but I think nowadays Motogp just has too much winner in one season. It can provide different winner each weekend and it makes it as if winning the race in Motogp doesn't seem special anymore because it appears that almost all rider can win the race in turns, overlooking their pure talent because things just apparentely depend on bike performance and track/tyres condition. No rider is prominent and bike performance is so inconsistent, they can be fast in one race then being so slow on the next weekend.

I forgot what year it was when Dani came into Motegi with a considerable points lead, (I believe it was more than 20 points) only to have a mechanical failure (the throttle stuck wide open during practice) breaking his collarbone bone and ending his season- that would have been his year to win the world championship for sure -

Stoner is always be phenomenal racer, but when dani is in perfect shape, have perfect bike condition, dani become quicker than stoner, and make dani Untouchable.

Not the best year of MotoGP, and if we talk about competitive, it's not competitive at all. Look at the qualification gap between P1-P6, it's almost a second, the difference between the factory and the satellite bike is like David and Goliath! But still one of the best era in MotoGP. I enjoyed so much how Stoner show his power among others, how Spies and Dovizioso try to ruined the top 3 rider, and that's great! But I really love today's MotoGP, every team have their best bikes and riders, everyone can be a winner every time they race. That's what MotoGP should be, unpredictable and really competitive.
I hope next full race will be Jerez 2005: Rossi vs Gibernau last corner collision. Or at least Jerez 2011, when Rossi took Stoner into the gravel in heavy rain.

I like rossi but i still think that rossi benefitted in a era where theres not much competition until casey stoner, lorenzo and dani oedrosa came into premier class. Where the competition is much more even, unlikw the time rossi could easily cruise to a championship. Rossi hardcore fanboys always giving million excuses why stoner won but when rossi won. They would never acknowledge other riders struggles. Very double standards.
You could give those same excuses to those guys as well. How many CRT/Open bikes were on the grid during that time, those bikes were barely fighting for points. Looking back the competition wasn't that strong and its pretty obvious when you compare it to Motogp nowadays.
