I think I can learn something about proper mentality from these guys who are elite arm wrestlers like Devon. I noticed that a lot of times, they don’t even feel like they need to pin their opponent.
I do Brazilian jujitsu and I feel like I often become too focused on tapping out my partner. Instead, I should be focused on just enjoying the roll and working on technique.
Thats true. Especially when you are better than the other guy you should go for clean technique and give him some chances.
But in any case you should use your training as an opportunity to experiment with different things, not just taping the other guy.
It was explained in 1 of the first Devon videos that in arm wrestling when just wrestling for fun the person who is better will just hold it tight and let the other person work on techniques
Depends on the type of training, if your just having fun then yeah but if you are preparing for a comp you should be giving no space and giving absolutely nothing.
@@2013_Shox I think Devon prefers the opposite nowadays. Since he's such a catch, hold, and bleed guy I think he prefers to train from weak positions from what I've seen and heard him say. If he gets you in a position where he has an advantage, he thinks the match is over anyway no matter your name. Its just that some guys like Denis, he can never catch.
Rolling isn't about winning. Learning, experimenting, cooperating.

There's something bout arm wrestling that brings people together. My friend is a pro arm wrestler and we sometimes bring his arm wrestling table to events and just teach people some basic technique and let them wrestle each other. It's not about showing off or anything, it's just such a nice atmosphere when people arm wrestle each other during such circumstances.
It's always extremely appreciated!
