Really enjoyed doing the video, thanks for having me on, it is always a pleasure to chat with you.
Abdullah nobody could write the script as to what we are doing and us ever coming together. A true pleasure as always.
This is the type of content that actually got me into perfume in the first place. The process of crafting perfumes and the ingredients that comprise them are two of my favorite kinds of videos to watch. Thank you both for sharing with all of us so freely.
Thanks for this comment Grey. Definitely a lot more work to make this kind of video, but what even I was able to learn is shortcuts that are priceless.
I am so pleased if this benefits you and you enjoy watching. We recorded a video today of making an attar too, so hopefully that will be interetsing for people to see too.
@@alexythimia7 Absolutely, I have seen lots of videos about alcohol-based perfumery, but almost nothing about attar construction.
@@grey7987 Same here, perhaps that is a good point I need to make in other videos about ratios of materials that I use, that is an area I think a lot of people stumble on.
Great video!
Love watching the creative mind at work.
Thanks so much. We have a video coming up soon where i make an attar so lots more creative things to share.
This is definitely an amazing experience! It's going to open up a lot of stuff for people. What he is giving should be charged for AMAZING generosity to the community.
Great video you two. Thanks for the tips! This has been really helpful.
Thanks Joshua more learning to come. Abdullah wants questions so feel free, he will be on here randomly.
Thanks so much. Really happy you found benefit in it.
Thanks for the information.I found ambergris and think I want to get into making perfume . How can I contact both of you to get more information
You're on another level, definitely. Every day you bring new content here, interviews etc you are currently the most interesting to see of all on UA-cam, so thank you for that. Keep it up, don't change!!
Appreciate that, it's unbelievable what I have on film. Amazing experience here.
This was perfect. So fascinating. Plus I've been looking high and low for something like this. Also if you do resinoid / absolute/ enfleurage I'll be glued. Amazing guys!
LOL you and a whole lot of others. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks so much for suggesting, I could do an enfleurage too, but sadly their are not a lot of fragrant flowers around me, this could be a possibility to showcase though.
Like the to be continued effects , kool
Love templates:) What took all the work was the multiple videos. I have had this video for three weeks drove me nuts.

This rocks!!! I'm very interested in playing with tincturing and building accords. I'm close to starting to gather materials. I've already visited your Etsy store and will be picking up some of the wonderful things you have there. Thank you Brandon for featuring again this brand and this tutorial. Bravo. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this perfectly timed content. ✌️
Rock on! That's why we are doing it, please share tidbits of what you are doing and feel free to ask away. Abdullah randomly jumps on comments and answers what he can.
Will do. I'll check in with what I'm doing. I'm trying to build something for someone. Nuff said? Lol
Thanks so much. I really appreciate the support and hope you can benefit from the upcoming talks and demonstrations too.
I'll be tuned in and taking notes no doubt. I don't miss anything Brandon puts out. ✌️
LOL sharing is your friend. but to each there own.
Very entertaining. I just bought some of his samples, I have no clue why.
John you will know when you smell them:)
Wow I never paid attention worth a damn in school but I was really focused on that tutorial fascinating I won’t be playing hookie for the next class for sure.cheers guys Lynch out🇮🇪🙏🙏
LOL Nice one Bren. I wasn't much for school either. Playing with stuff like this has me hanging on to every word of Abdullah:) Cheers.
@@TherapeuticFragrance hi B just in etsy looking up Alex’s attars damn there is a lot to chose from here I will study them closely but will focus in on oud offerings can’t see musk ones but vetiver attars and sandal wood went a bit mad today with a Olympic orchid fragrance Salamanca its a vetiver real dark and earthy natural ,encre noir by lalique is its synthetic weaker cousin jeez it is dark vetiver on steroids I know you sampled from Olympic orchids and ya like them this one is good regular fragrance folk who are on the fence with encre noir will run a mile lol 😂
Thanks so much. I also didn't pay attention in school either! I learn much more on my own and have always enjoyed that. Really happy if you can benefit from this
@@alexythimia7 fascinating stuff I’m just about to did my toe inti attars and am browsing through your site oud themes are my focus I feel oh and your saffron musk although can’t see it on site blessings to you Abdullah and thanks for your tutoring 🇮🇪🙏🙏🙏
@@brenlynch4811 Yes Saffron Musk Imperial sold out pretty quick. He really the case with my musk attars, they are difficult and time consuming to make so jiat occasionally pop up. Perhaps the sample pack is a good place to start, as it contains 10 samples, small but easy to get acquainted with thr style of scents I make.
What fragrance out there is available with a 10% of gray ambergris besides Golden ambergris by anonim? PS: am not sure that’s the ratio for GA tho.
Hi, how long would you keep it in alcohol? also. I would like to use another medium to extract, not alcohol. Like a base vegetable oil *grapeseed. any experience with that?
whats the solvent you used , i mean what version of ethanol also share which filter paper do you use
After it’s macerated … do you pour the oil through a paper filter … or just use it as is ?
Hey bro hope you're well. Need advise. I did 1ml ambergris to 9ml ethonol.. the ethonol has gone really dark. It's grey ambergris. However all I Smell is ethonol. How long do I let it rest for? Its only been 30min if I'm honest
Can you not grate this with a nutmeg grateor!!?
Wow
Great video, after the tincture has been put together, I assume the oil will separate from the alcohol? Or is the tincture used as it is ? Thanks
I'm sure Abdullah will be by for a better answer but for the ones I have I have noticed this. Always easy to give it a shake it mixes super quick in tincture.
What is the name of the other guys channel?
Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge. Ambergristincture.com says you should use 11grams of 3% ambergris tincture to 15mls of perfume concentrate. That seems high to me. Maybe because they sell their tinctures? Your thoughts?
?could you use a coffee grinder for the ambergris?
I would be afraid of losing to much material myself and the grinder would heat it. To much of a loss. Having the debris has leftover has already proved very valuable to work I have done.
Can we just not use coffee grinder to get the ambergris into a powder?
I personally wouldn't While it looks like I have a lot this stuff is extremely expensive it seems like the amount loss to the grinder wouldn't be worth it.
Great video you guys, would you recommend any books for tincturing, Maceration, and anything attar and perfume related?
I just got into some Alchemy books but doesn't focus on those. My friend this is my learning right in front of you. I think Abdullah showed the process for Ambergris pretty good. A part 2 to this is coming.
Personally I learned all of this myself through experimentation and talking with some who did it before me, so no books that come to mind, I tend to read about alchemy and how they extracted thinga in the past so maybe a good book on alchemical preparations may help a lot.
@@TherapeuticFragrance Thank you very much Brandon, and you are perfectly right. I will save these videos to use as reference and I'm looking forward to the 2nd part. I appreciate you and Abdullah for doing this, Thank you again.
@@TherapeuticFragrance Yeah it is hard to find the real info on alchemical extractions. It is often coated with mysticism and symbology so hard to understand exactly what they were doing sometimes.
@@alexythimia7 Thank you, Abdullah, I will follow Brandon's advice and watch the videos and learn from you guys. When I start and need more info I will be sure to ask around.
I use a food grater to do that. Much easier and quicker.
Russian Adam style:) Abdullah did mention that in our first video these pieces were quite small the mortar method worked well. I graded the castoreum coming my friend. The biggest thing Abdullah keeps mentioning is that it's really fun to watch all of us finds our different methods and ways to work. Has been really freeing for me to be doing some other experiments not on film. Will tell all if they work out.
Use coffee grinder for frank
Kcool. Yes, I’m watching you grate castoreum as we speak. Ah, I didn’t know Adam also grates his.
Hey Moose have you done the grinder. I almost did it buy was so scared it would heat up and turn into a mess.
@@TherapeuticFragrance yes i bought two grinders,
Will it make a difference from a certain time with this material? That is, will a 5-year-old macerated tincture be better than a 3-year-old for example? Or from a certain time ethanol and Santal oil will absorb the entire scent of ambergris in the bottle and there will be no difference?
That's a great question. My answer (and I will let Abdullah have his better one) would be to get the material in tincture or maceration as quick as possible as it only ages better in either. And there is no point in waiting. I have heard of twenty year old Musk product being just something that makes the composition out of this world.
@@TherapeuticFragrance So tinctures are like wine, right? A 5-year-old tincture will be better than the 3-year-old and the 20-year-old will be better than 5 or 10 years old. It makes sense
@@TherapeuticFragrance Can I write you an email?
In most cases yes. Some things like Frankincense people say are there best fresh. Like citrus' it loses that crisp top note.
Generally musk tinctures get better with age. I tend to see changes at certain time fra.es with these materials. After about 3 to 6 months the scent starts to give hints of maturation, at around 1 year it tends to display stronger signs of maturation and at around 2 years it often seems to reach a pinnacle, but much older materials can still change and improve in scent, this applies to most materials surprisingly and from my experience a smaller amount of materials expire and deteriorate in scent such as citrus and many herbs.
Wouldn't it be better if the crushed ambergris is left out to be more neutral without the poop-fishy smell so that it wouldn't need 6-12 months to sit in alcohol?
School is in session :)
I am only the Teachers Assistant the professor is on another level:)
@@TherapeuticFragrance a second chance to be top students, i feel ur excitement.
Hi, I really like this content, I happen to have a lot of ambergris in my place, I will imitate making perfume, oh yes, if you can help me market our ambergris, I have 100 kg more in stock
