This is what happens when a modern guitar prodigy has instant access to 80 years of every style of guitar at their fingertips and has that as the STARTING POINT from which their artistic expression takes off.
I wish I could like this comment 1000 times. The access to so much information and with so much talent… Just can’t wait to see everything that will come from it
i wont say prodigy.. they are not kids.. prodigies are those asian kids playing classical and jazz piece.. like Lydian.. Marcin was a prodigy.. but i am not saying Polyphia's are bad.. their music are insane, unique and melodic.. with lots of harmonics..new different and modern style.. just the prodigy is not fitting.. that's for someone who plays or played very good during childhood time..
It's always fun to watch a musician take in Polyphia for the first time. I've heard their music described as 'music for musicians,' and nothing emphasizes that more than reactions like this, where musicians that think they've heard it all are in for the treat of their lives. The fusion of differing styles, the interesting compositional elements, and virtuoso performance all lend their weight to yield a superb aural experience.
Likewise, the first thing I was looking for into this video that Salty probably by his age has at least some experience with an instruments -- Surely enough, it's 40+ years of the guitar! Always a treat to see someone who recognizes the intricacies of a niche, and then react to it understanding the beauty and the depth
The indifference you started with that immediately became pure awe and enjoyment was so genuine and fun to watch. This was great! Polyphia has been my favorite band for a long time, it’s nice to see some folks older than myself getting into it. I got my dad into them as well! Check out some of their other stuff. Cheers!
Thought it was fun watching a little bit of doubt set in at the very end, then getting confirmation that this level of playing and musicianship is actually possible! For what it's worth, Salty's also great with vid transitions haha
everything i've heard from Polyphia is great. G.O.A.T. is their big breakthrough hit, but i also love Goose, O.D., and Lit. Tim is out there making guitars cool again. for other new guitarists that blow my mind, check out Sokoninaru and Covet.
Animals as leaders, Berried alive, CHON, Plini are all good options for good instrumentals. Berried alive has vocals on some songs but its a husband and wife and their journey through music and wanting to be able to do a huge business idea. They have their own beer. Charles also has a following of people who think hes a fake even with guitar playthrough videos.
What you are listening to my friend is two hybrid Ibanez electric acoustics WITH nylon strings, and pickups that go on the inside of the body. These guys are on a COMPLETELY different level. I personally consider them to be like a micro TSO. Phenomenal.
I definitely hear ya!! I have changed it for future vids ... Thank you, thank you, thank you for your comment. It compelled me to improve things. ~Salty
I’ve watched so many reaction videos about polyphia now because it’s always so much fun watching someone react to this the first time. Whether it’s someone that has never played an instrument or someone that has played guitar 40 years. It always is awe.
Never heard of Polyphia until a couple months ago when this popped up on my IG. My mind was completely blown!!! I’ve listened to their entire catalog a few times and wonder how we have never heard about them before. I’m addicted!!! These guys have Jimmy Page Jimi Hendrix talent!!!
These guys are phenoms everyone once in a generation you get an entire new creation of style, redefining how to play a guitar! Much less having 2 unbelievable guitarist that totally compliment each other Drums so tight incredible beats bad Ass Bassist ! These guys will be G.O.A T. Next video But their evolution as 16 year old that put most the world to shame!
man... i can't remember the last time i made the decision to sub to someone so quickly... bravo, sir! watching your skepticism turn into disbelief, and then appreciation... was incredibly refreshing.
Hey brotha, great reaction!!! I dig your style. I think G.O.A.T will blow your mind. It's a few years old but still showcases what Polyphia can do. Keep the reactions coming!!!
Haha you old git I LOVED your reaction! Cleared out some cobwebs! As for me I spent days unpacking this tune in my head. It's rich musical food. I've watched many reaction vids and yours was the best!
Nice. Polyphia is definitely one of the bands pushing guitar centric music to the next level in the modern era. I recommend checking out some of their other songs like: G.O.A.T The Worst Lit Goose Crush Those are some of my personal favorites
Well Tim has an one take playthrough of this song. But if you want more Polyphia songs, OD, 40 oz, G.O.A.T., Euphoria, Yas. Nice reaction, good sir. Cheers 🍻
Very groovy! I just found you today on a Tom MacDonald reaction and am going back to other artists. I’ve never heard of this band but plan to check them out. Thank you!
Great reaction, and I hope you enjoy some of their other stuff, too. Word to the wise: Watch your bass levels in your recording. You're gonna get clipping on the bass because Clay Gober (bass) and Clay Aeschliman (drums) have more low-end than 99% of what you're gonna hear.
I grow up with musicians families around (father was a drummer, and almost every band rehearsal he had I was there when I was a kid ~4-8years~) but I dont know how to play anything (had a few, like 5, drumm classes when I was 17 ~now 26~) but people say I've a "good ear" and every fkcing time I watch a polyphia react my body shivers. lol Maybe am I a closet musician? lol (and I really would love to learn guittar and drumms)
This song to me.. stands above the rest of polyphia music... makes me real jazzed for the a new album. Check out animals as leaders. Plini. Bilo 1,2,3/david maxim mici. Intervals. Jakub zytecki. Slaughtering some spelling but you'll find them.
If you want to JUST appreciate the guitar playing in this song then you should check out Tim Henson's acoustic playthrough that he uploaded on his channel. Scottie Lepage also has a quick little playthrough of his part in the first half of the song on his channel but Tim actually plays through the entire song along with a backing track so you can REALLY focus in on what he's doing.
Watch Tim doing this solo. Then watch OD and GOAT. Then Tommy Emmanuel doing guitar boogie, somewhere over the rainbow, and classical gas. ichika nito is another unorthodox player. Name your genre and I'll suggest more specifically.
Guitar guys often refer to Polyphia as the band that makes them want to throw their guitars in the trash. 😂 This song is so much fun to listen to. My favorite part is the funky-jazzy break in the middle, its so unique to what anyone else is doing right now. They recently released a new song (Ego Death) that features Steve Vai! I feel like that alone is a testament to what they're doing on guitar.
Polyphia is my response to anyone who says guitar music is dying. They’re blowing up and inspiring a whole new generation to play. Guitar ain’t dead. It’s just evolving
Also, Tim has a full play through of this song on his channel and I think you'll totally dig it. You may want to set fire to your guitars but resist... It's worth it
Everyone mentioned really really great songs but I gotta throw in the most underrated song by them. It is ‘OD’ and it is unrelenting and spicy. You will know what I’m talking about within the first 10 seconds
I dig this new sound some newer metal are going for. I think Spiritbox and October Ends are the best releases this year. Please react to Play Time from them as well
Hey Salty, loved the reaction. Have seen a lot of reactions to this one but really enjoyed this. Some serious editing skills on display, do you edit yourself? If not, give the editor a raise. Cheers.
Thanks! I do my own editing. I record using Streamlabs OBS and I edit using Movie Studio Platinum. Still learning the new version of Movie Studio. I had always used Sony Vegas, BUT, my old Sony Vegas doesn't support GPU acceleration with my new video card. So, I am feeling a bit like the chimps at the beginning of 2001 Space Odyssey throwing bones at the moon.
Hopefully in a few days. We just got cell service back. Waiting for flood waters to subside so we can start cleanup. This Ian nonsense was way worse than Irma.
Thank you... I have read a few comments, similar to your. I have made changes to bring vids into clarity, while keeping my butt out of a sling. LOL Sincerely, thank you for the input.
I got somethin' fo dat azz!! How about Tommy Emmanuel Classical Gas and Guitar Boogie?? Tommy is one of the greatest fingerstyle guitarists EVER my friend! You'll love him!
Polyphia opened my eyes to new music like no other since at least twenty years ago. Keep on discovering them, but please fix your output mix of the sound, cause the distortion don't make any music justice, unless you just keep putting out Ramones tracks in the future.
I love watching people's brain's explode from discovering their talent. It never gets old.
so true
I literally went to type this same comment but then saw yours.
@@NomadicInfluence haha. Nice👌.

Well said!
I wish I could like this comment 1000 times. The access to so much information and with so much talent… Just can’t wait to see everything that will come from it
That's one of the good things about the internet. Shame about the rest of it.

And like that, Flamenco Bossa Nova Trap music was born.
Hahahahaa!! 100%
Actually, Kruder & Dorfmeister and Thievery Corporation may have contributed to that earlier.
Prog Rock for short. :)
They don’t let genre limit them

Watching people react to Polyphia is my favourite hobby. Thanks for being a part 😊👍
Thank you so much. More of the guys will be coming soon!
i was just thinking the same thing 🤣🤣
Please tell me this isn’t fake. The reaction, the editing, the effects… it is just so precious and perfect. Instant sub
Thanks, Khill .. I appreciate it ...
The indifference you started with that immediately became pure awe and enjoyment was so genuine and fun to watch. This was great! the multiple cuts backs to "damn" was hilarious. Good reaction, thoroughly enjoyed.
Well ... Damn!! Thank you for that.
everything i've heard from Polyphia is great. G.O.A.T. is their big breakthrough hit, but i also love Goose, O.D., and Lit. Tim is out there making guitars cool again. for other new guitarists that blow my mind, check out Sokoninaru and Covet.
Nah man. He made me quit playing. He does it better and i cant compete lmao
Goose and The worst is the two mains I love

ITS THAT MUFUCKIN GREY GOOSE BAY-BAAAYYYY
What you are listening to my friend is two hybrid Ibanez electric acoustics WITH nylon strings, and pickups that go on the inside of the body. These guys are on a COMPLETELY different level. I personally consider them to be like a micro TSO. Phenomenal.
That checkerboard pattern strained my eyes within 50 seconds of this video
I definitely hear ya!! I have changed it for future vids ... Thank you, thank you, thank you for your comment. It compelled me to improve things.

By far one of the best polyphia reactions
WOW!! Thank you so much!!
You suddenly started to show up all over my UA-cam app and I really like your reactions 😊 keep it up 😁🤘🏻
Thanks, Timbo! I appreciate it and I will try my best to keep it up!!
I’ve watched so many reaction videos about polyphia now because it’s always so much fun watching someone react to this the first time. Whether it’s someone that has never played an instrument or someone that has played guitar 40 years. It always is awe.
Dude I love your sense of humor 😂 every single "damn!" had me rolling! Good shit
“Usually I sit out in the yard and drink a beer, today I’m in the house drinking beer.” Hell yeah brother
You probably don't have enough "Damn!" in your arsenal to see/hear Polyphia's G.O.A.T.
Definitely grabbed my attention as well. Thanks for the comment!
I absolutely loved your reaction! This band is always pushing the envelope. Thanks for the upload and I’m definitely a new subscriber.
Thank you so much!!
I'm so glad you liked it. Just remember to hook Tim and the boys up on Christmas
i was having a really shitty day but this video made me so happy. I love watching people love music that I also love.
Thank you so much!! I have watched it a couple of dozen times now. It just gets better and better.
These guys are phenoms everyone once in a generation you get an entire new creation of style, redefining how to play a guitar! Much less having 2 unbelievable guitarist that totally compliment each other Drums so tight incredible beats bad Ass Bassist !
These guys will be G.O.A T. Next video
But their evolution as 16 year old that put most the world to shame!
They most certainly amaze!!! Thanks, Jeff!!
man... i can't remember the last time i made the decision to sub to someone so quickly... bravo, sir! watching your skepticism turn into disbelief, and then appreciation... was incredibly refreshing.

LOL! Thank you so much. I appreciate that!!
This is one of the best reaction videos I've seen!
@7:00 lead guitarrist name is Tim Henson, so pretty close there and yes he shreds like he's on something lol
The "damn" edits had me 9n the floor 🤣🤣🤣 loved it.
G.O.A.T and O.D. are pretty awesome by polyphia as well.
Nice. Polyphia is definitely one of the bands pushing guitar centric music to the next level in the modern era.
I recommend checking out some of their other songs like:
G.O.A.T
The Worst
Lit
Goose
Crush
Those are some of my personal favorites
Drown, The Worst, and Saucy are some of my favorites from them
Well Tim has an one take playthrough of this song. But if you want more Polyphia songs, OD, 40 oz, G.O.A.T., Euphoria, Yas. Nice reaction, good sir. Cheers 🍻
Don't forget "Goose"!
@@3lapsed Good call!
Thank you so much. I have his vid on lock as I type.
Good video "Old Man" ! One of my favorites by Polyphia is 40oz, super cool song and a fun video.
Thank You. I will check it out!!
Loved the edits, glad you enjoyed it :) Tim Henson does a live unplugged version which I highly, highly recommend!
Thanx!! I am putting that to the top of the queue.
Scott (Guitarist) and Clay (Drummer) also have done live versions and there is footage out there that has all 3 on one video.
people gush about the guitars, and they are so tasteful, but that drummer takes it to the top for me
5:50 had me laughing so hard
Goose, G.O.A.T. , OD, Yas, and anything else lol
Thank You!! LOL
Don't forget Tim's unplugged one take playthrough of Playing God. After watching it I am convinced he's an alien.
Thank you. I noticed I had my DSP pushing way harder than it should have been. Literally 15db too high.
Max Headroom edits for the win! lol
Glad you liked it and definitely check out more, namely their more popular ones like G.O.A.T, Goose, OD, Yas.
Dude they're incredible. I could see it in your face when you realized how insane they were hahaha.
I was truly, genuinely blown away. Amazing stuff.
Check out the unplugged play through videos from each member as well. You get to see uncut fingers.
I have Tims vid all lined up now. Thank you for the suggestion!!!
I grow up with musicians families around (father was a drummer, and almost every band rehearsal he had I was there when I was a kid ~4-8years~) but I dont know how to play anything (had a few, like 5, drumm classes when I was 17 ~now 26~) but people say I've a "good ear" and every fkcing time I watch a polyphia react my body shivers. lol

This was such a fun reaction to watch. I love seeing folks experience Polyphia for the first time!
Thanks, Tori. This was quite the awakening for me. Like an *instant* love kinda thing ... Simply amazing.
63 subs!? My friend I am 64 now haha love the editing and the enthusiasm
Thank you so much!!
If you want to JUST appreciate the guitar playing in this song then you should check out Tim Henson's acoustic playthrough that he uploaded on his channel. I agree, inspired me to pick my guitar up more often! Phenomenal musicians 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Guitar guys often refer to Polyphia as the band that makes them want to throw their guitars in the trash. 😂

They recently released a new song (Ego Death) that features Steve Vai! I feel like that alone is a testament to what they're doing on guitar.
Sipp'n natty and watching the kids play. I love it xD
Besides more of their music, you can also watch them on their individual channels show how the did what they did.
What a musical treat!
It's worth it
Best reaction so far
Thank You!!
I always describe them as "Elevator music from hell".
Tim Henson (lead guitarist) released "Playing God (Unplugged)", a video of him playing through the song raw. It's incredible, you should check it out!
Thanks!! I will definitely do that.
😄 next level sh*t, you said!
Love, Love, Love IT!!!
Me Too!! These guys are amazing ...
there is actually a playthrough video of tim's part you should check out that too
Everyone mentioned really really great songs but I gotta throw in the most underrated song by them. It is ‘OD’ and it is unrelenting and spicy. You will know what I’m talking about within the first 10 seconds
Thanks! Adding to the list
Yes! Check out their song G.O.A.T. next!
love the reaction!
Salty keep being you. Subbed
Thank you! I very much appreciate it.
Do GOAT or 40oz by Polyphia. For similar guitarists check out Ichika, CHON, or Yvette Young.
I dig this new sound some newer metal are going for. I think Spiritbox and October Ends are the best releases this year. Please react to Play Time from them as well
Everyone is going to say "do GOAT next". I say, do "Yas" next
Hey Salty, loved the reaction. Have seen a lot of reactions to this one but really enjoyed this. Some serious editing skills on display, do you edit yourself? If not, give the editor a raise. Cheers.

Their song goat is their most popular song
Still one of the best Polyphia reactions! Just waiting for EGO DEATH reaction 😘
Hopefully in a few days. We just got cell service back. Waiting for flood waters to subside so we can start cleanup. This Ian nonsense was way worse than Irma.
You'd also probably love their song "Goose" sir
Love the George Benson reference ❤️
I love the editor video
Man I was hoping the video itself was as framey as your facecam. And I'm very disappointed 😞 that it isn't, that would have been amazing
Thank you... I have read a few comments, similar to your. I have made changes to bring vids into clarity, while keeping my butt out of a sling. LOL
Sincerely, thank you for the input.
I got somethin' fo dat azz!! How about Tommy Emmanuel Classical Gas and Guitar Boogie?? Tommy is one of the greatest fingerstyle guitarists EVER my friend! You'll love him!

not just acoustic but nylon strings
Polyphia opened my eyes to new music like no other since at least twenty years ago. Keep on discovering them, but please fix your output mix of the sound, cause the distortion don't make any music justice, unless you just keep putting out Ramones tracks in the future.
I'm pretty sure the drummer was on a drum line in school.
Would NOT surprise me... He is amazing.
Listen to animals as leaders.
Animals as Leaders might short circuit the poor man's brain 🧠
I think these guys come from the same planet as Steve Vai.
Check out Tim Henson's channel he's always posting tid bits of new stuff he's working on and it's a better view of him playing
Tim is insane they never disappoint check out goat
Markiplier when he's old❤️
Look but don't touch is a good one, or just go to Tim Henson's channel on UA-cam. Lol. (The guy with the tattoos.)
Check out O.D. or G.O.A.T from Polyphia
#IWasntReadyForThat...
#Yep.
#NoneOfUsWere.
Haha yeah dam that was awesome
I love to see happy grandpa )
I kinda get some Santana mixed with Eric Johnson vibes
I can definitely feel that too!!!
Yeah man!!! You want G.O.A.T. and 40oz...you'll love it!
It’s called Playing God for a reason lmfao
Polyphia is great, but Animals as leaders is where i'll put my money for the title of "The greatest instrumental band ever"
Have you heard GOAT by them?
Yep!!
Here's GOAT

Nice one! Welcome to Polyphia! Check GOAT and all the stuff people have suggested. Stay cool.😉
Thank you! Will do!
Empieza parecido a Hotel California.
If you wish to react to a song you might not have heard of, I would say Aesthetic Perfection - Gods and Gold
Thank you! I will check it out
Got it loaded up. Will probably be recording a reaction to Aesthetic Perfection - Gods and Gold, later today.
Try G.O.A.T. or Goose next
G.O.A.T , Drown , O.D , etc
