- In New Jersey filming some Annie filming locations. The main house is located at Monmouth University, and the famous Annie train bridge at the end that she climbs is located in Kearny, NJ. (Next to Newark NJ)
PS I had to change some of the songs a little because of copyright laws but you still get the general look and feel.

Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my Annie filming locations video. Let me know what you think!
Mobile Instinct i randomly stumbled upon your youtube! I am so excited that i did! This is my fave movie ever!!! So glad i got to see what it looks like. Thanks for traveling!
Mobile Instinct , have you ever seen sound of music and where it films at
I loved it, you must like the movie too, you don't hear of many guys liking it..
Your "My Cousin Vinny video got chopped?! Can you edit that so they won't chop it? I'd love to see it. Love your content!
@@jacobaubertin645 Why was it deleted?
I like how as cruel as Miss Hanagan was,
I love how she told him.."She's just a baby!" It showed you she was just bully, but still had morals I GUESS?
Annie seemed to warm even the coldest heart. Look at Warbucks, he was a grouchy old man until Annie came into his life and he just became a father to her and even though he knew that he might lose her, he still went about trying to help her find her parents.
Ha ha ha, good observation. As a child, watching the movie, that little scene probably taught me that there is good in everyone. Miss Hanagan was mean but, she didn't want actual harm to come to Annie and the other orphans.
My mom always found that line weird. I guess too sudden of a change of heart for the character in her eyes lol
That’s why she got top billing on the elephant instead of Warbuck’s sending her to Sing Sing
I like to believe she got to ride the elephant AND Punjab and she were lovers. Unheard of for its time but they could still attend
This was great! Aileen Quinn has said that when she was teaching at Monmouth she had to go to the administrative building to fill out forms-and she said it was weird for her because her brain was telling her that she had to be dancing, not walking, up the same stairs.
I was just thinking how awesome it would be to work there and have a desk in that area where his office was. Wild for her I bet.
I go to school at Monmouth and work in Wilson hall and it truly is spectacular to see everyday. Absolutely beautiful building that I take for granted sometimes!
That is DISGUSTING how they covered up that gorgeous pool..there was plenty other spaces for them to manipulate into an office!!! Thanks Chris for such a detailed video..and all the comparisons and contrast!! 🙄
??
Seriously!
i agree with you, hate that the covered the pool up,they should have had a building made from ground up and left this gorgeous building as it was when annie was filmed there, yeah angry
I can't agree with you more.. And those fountains need to be working!
This is one of my favorite movies from childhood. You did an amazing job editing then and now. Beautiful!
Tricia Brown Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
Matilda is a good movie too
I agree. Very well done on the editing and production of this video.
Thanks for this awesome video! My older sister Toni Ann played Molly in this 1982 film..My mom was pregnant for me and my twin sister while they were filming..I get to hear stories from them time to time, but I enjoy seeing videos on youtube.
That's sooo cool!! I grew up watching Annie and Molly's just a sweetheart in the film! 💖
Mary Kathearene 💙 you can find her here on UA-cam ☺️ Search for Toni Ann Gisondi
Wow that's so awesome, she was such a cutie in this movie!
Your sister was fabulous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🎶ya never fully dressed without a smile🎶
@@funthingswithjustin8972omg ur so lucky i love annie! pls tell ur sister that everyone still loves her and no one will forget her performance as molly! ❤ also dyk if she still has contact with the cast?
I went to college at Monmouth in the 1980's. Good to see ol WW Hall still beautiful. The movie gave them the money to make much needed repairs. Many of the rooms were closed in 1982 because they were stil filming the movie or had sets left over. Makes me so happpy to see it in good shape still
As a child it blew my mind that people actually lived in mansions like the one seen here; might've inspired my life-long fascination with Edwardian architecture. Gorgeous mansion but, I did have to sigh at the main entrance which is now filled with office equipment! :( and what they did to the swimming pool area should be illegal under the local Heritage Preservation Act. Tragic.
Only reason it was allowed probably because all of said offices can be removed, to uncover the pool if needed.
This is awesome! I must have watched Annie over 200 times as a kid. How nostalgic 🥰
I'm delighted to see that this building did not end up being neglected after filming Annie, unlike some of the other former filming locations that you've explored :)
Also nice to see that they've ultimately decided not change a whole lot around in the 35 yrs since then.
Because they used a school for mr warbucks mansion
This was soooooo much fun to watch! I am amazed at how beautiful the school still looks and that it was all filmed there ( as opposed to a mixture of sets/studios/ indoor, outdoor locations) Thank you so much for taking me down memory lane, this was really enjoyable!
maudale Hey thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Great video! Just remember this is located in WEST Long Branch, lol there’s a big difference. But anyway, words can’t describe how much this place has been has impacted my life. As a lifelong resident of West Long Branch, I grew Up taking bike rides and walks through Monmouth.. years later, going to school here getting my bachelors and still living in town to this day. What a magical place, walking through this building to register for classes was always my favorite
Hey Chris, I saw this movie when it was originally released in theatres back in 1982. For some reason "Annie" really struck a chord with me, and I even had the soundtrack on cassette because I loved the music so much. At the time I kept that to myself thinking it was weird for a little boy to enjoy this type of movie, but I realize now that it had to do with my love of music and it simply left an impression on me at the time. There is so much talent there: Carol Burnett (got to see her here in Toronto back in October!), Tim Curry, Albert Finney, Bernadette Peters, etc.... what's not to love? Plus, after having seen this in the cinema, then rental video in the 1980s, then on a plane coming back home from Texas, it was by sheer fluke that I discovered your video of the location where the "mansion" scenes took place, where it mostly looks very much as it did back in 1982! So well done, loved every minute of this!
Normand Authier 🖒Ive Still Got The Soundtrack, On CD, Carol Burnett was brilliant as Ms Hanagan
Me too! But I don't think it was or is weird for a boy to love the movie or the stage show. Glad you realised that yourself.
See my comment, up-thread. I was the exact same as you 🫶🏼
I'm an east-coast native, and I really wish I knew about Annie having been filmed at Monmouth! I'd have definitely visited there before moving out West. Thank you for the awesome video!
A true Aileen Quinn "Annie" movie fan here! Loved this! Thank you, only a true Annie fan can appreciate this! 😍
Very cool, love history. Kinda sad too, the past is to me. A shame they covered the pool area.
I saw Annie in the theater as a kid. You did an excellent job recreating the scenes. This video brought back many memories. Thanks for posting.

This was a revelation to me. I only ever saw Annie once sometime between the ages of 9 and 13. I always thought like Hello Dolly! that it had all been filmed on sets. If I ever do go back to the US again, I would love to take a walk around Monmouth University.
I love how you did the video - seeing the film then how the house looks today. Great job thank you!!
Thank you for the tour. This is one musical I loved and still loving so much..

This was an awesome movie. I sang the songs “Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow” at a school performance on stage. I was an orphan too at an orphanage in Colombia (S.A.). Was adopted at age 6!
what an incredible building!!! the ceiling, steps and the tub all amazing. you did an excellent job of recreating each scene. I was waiting for you to play the organ lol.

This was awesome! You did a phenomenal job editing! I wanted to see more. Can’t wait to see your next adventure!
nice! by the way, the song "we've got Annie" was adapted from a "we've got Annie" song written for the broadway production that didn't make it into the final score. it's on the CD, sung by the song writers as a demo.
GREAT JOB!! Very cool video and thanks for sharing!
Love these videos! You do an amazing job!😀
Just watched ANNIE again and love this video!!!

I love your video to a movie I enjoyed when it was released on video in 1983 & still enjoy it to this very day & you did a fantastic vlog & good to know that a lot still stays pretty similar.
I don’t expect you to reply as you got a load of comments.I was confused if the pool was filled in and the entire area was made into offices.I am glad I bumped into this video.I can’t believe this movie was shot 40 years ago & I was 9 then,I feel old.I will definitely subscribe to your channel cause I ❤️ movie locations!

That was great to see , Annie is my favorite movie, We have some filming locations but there in Melbourne Australia, Shows like " Prisoner " , theres a lot of historical stuff where they filmed. Great vid though. I pressed the sub and like for you
this is my favorite childhood. movie, I love watching this video.
Hey fella, 'm the guy that was truant from school that day and went to our "monkeybars" hang out bridge (a Conrail Co. basqual bridge built in 1929(it had a plaque) when we thought we saw officers walking down the tracks towards the bridge.Turned out they were the location scouts, with 35mm in hand, that said "we're filming a movie here! Where Daddy W. is going to come up the River and save "Annie" in his luxury yacht at the pier." And then they left. As a fire raged in Newark, we climbed up the trestle to the very top to see the smoke. As we looked down to the bottom of the trestle. There stood the two location scouts again! The scene turned out: Annie climbs to top of bridge and gets rescued by Daddy W.'s helicopter.
Paul 33 John Street Kearny NJ
I got saddled into taking a couple of the nieces to see this back in the day.
Bernadette Peters as Tim Curry's 1920's flapper made it worthwhile.
The Don Budge crack was pretty sweet, too.
Wow thank you for showing us that whole beautiful place and all the shots. I am curious about the tall railroad track bridge is it still straight up in the air like that?
I adore this!! It's all real!! Pre- CGI days. ❤❤
Such a fun movie good.
That is one gorgeous building... Certainly don't make things like that anymore... Not like they could either! The details are amazing!
This was good. Main the wood work in that place is awesome. I like these filming locations, I haven't checked your others yet, but was wondering if you have done or maybe planning to do Young Guns filming locations
Thanks Ron. Id like to do some Young Guns locations next time I'm in New Mexico and Arizona. Ive been to the actual old towns where Billy The Kid hung around. Pretty cool stuff!
Thankyou Chris...lovely to see this estate. Such a heartwarming movie. I was wondering if you ever are in the area of
Lindenwold Castle / Mattison Estate Property in Ambler Pennsylvania...this was the film location for an old movie called
" The Trouble With Angels " starring Hayley Mills and Rosalind Russell. I'd love to see the grounds and interior of this house.
Mind you...I think the movie interiors were filmed at Columbia Studios...Thankyou for your great work...!
Great!! As usual...but where was the bridge located ?
i love this movie so much
BRAVO!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Annie is a timeless classic! I watched it last night for the first time in 20 years but grew up with it on VHS and saw it’s theatrical release in 1982 at age 9. Also I was an IATSE Set Dresser for 16 years in Hollywood. The exterior NYC street scenes were likely shot on the old backlot at Universal although Warner Bros also has an “old New York” 2 block lot, as well. It’s possible that they used both (they’re across an actual street from each other, Pass Avenue, in Burbank) Regrettably the NYC property at Universal was utterly destroyed by an enormous fire in 2004. It was rebuilt similarly but some of those beautiful brownstone stoops were completely incinerated in that 5 alarm fire that drew resources from as far away as San Fernando and Santa Monica. Lastly the initial theatrical release was a failure. Can you believe it? It lost money. $40M production budget in the early 1980’s is akin to $175M today. Making Annie on par with a Marvel movie, budget-wise. If I’ve got my facts straight the film broke even in rerelease and foreign markets but the initial financial failure precluded the making of sequels. Which was the original intent. (sigh) I can only say THANK YOU to talents like Carol Burnett, Tim Curry and of course Aileen Quinn, who went on to a wonderful career on stage in productions of everything from Wizard of Oz to Fiddler on the Roof. ☺️I credit Ann Reinken as one of my early moments of “yep I’m definitely a brunettes man” And credit John Huston with giving me an early and lifelong love of Depression Era stories and Production Design.
Again, BRAVO 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥳
I love this
You are fantastic with that camera
GOOD JOB!!!!
dude, this is cool
That is sad that the pool was covered over; I imagine the upkeep was pricey.
Excellent video; the editing, splicing together the movie and the footage filmed by you was immaculate. What would have been truly spectacular is if the dance moves had been recreated in those shots! What, you can't do that high kick and spins that the gardener does?
