-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Фільми й анімація
As a 62 year old guy raised on music from the 60s and 70s, I totally loved the 90s, with this song being one of my favorites.
Ditto here...69 and some 90's bands rocked.
Ditto ditto, 63 and this was one of my fav 90s tunes as well...loved Sandra Bernard in the video!!!
65 and right there with you.
Yeah, I'll Join in.... 60 year old here, and I love this song.
double dip: of course, I was always about 10 years late when it came to any music not from the 70s or 80s. So, it wasn't until the aughts(sp?) when I really got into the grunge scene.
Cracker is great. Have seen them live 3 times so far. Their first song released was Teen Angst ( what the world needs) 1992. Lead singer is David Lowery used to front Camper Van Beethoven.
I saw a show 4-5 years ago that was a Camper set and a Cracker set
CVB were so great. One of my favourite 80s college bands up there with The Replacements and R.E.M.
I love Eurotrash Girl too. Great band, super nice guys
would love to see them do Eye of Fatima from Camper. I just consider Cracker the later era of Camper, but with the addition of the brilliant Johnny Hickman. I think they'd also enjoy Teen Angst (What The World Needs Now).
@@Rlagow Wasn't near Charlottesville, VA, was it? I caught a show there several years before you did, I think it was near where Lowery was living while doing work in a studio in Richmond.
“Million poppies gonna make me sleep, Just one rose, it knows your name” is one of my favorite lyric bits ever.
Come on "Like a Chechen Cosomonaut"... WTF Man 😂
Love this song! I'd say it's not grunge, but 90's alternative. So much alternative from that era is amazing.
Check out Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Jane's Addiction, Sublime, and so many more.
I’ll second that, totally onboard with all of those suggestions. Killer bands from the early to mid 90’s.
@@GT-mq1dx I think these guys are going to love the 90's.
I have a playlist called "highschool in the 90s" which is the lesser known music we listened to in the 90s. ua-cam.com/play/PLxlf_yhVq6brcRW1QQsceFh26HwVOzSPT.html
@@misterkite Great list!
Next song from Cracker has to be Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now). Banger with KILLER lyrics.
Yes
Agreed, so good!
Awesome song with very smart lyrics.
Wasn't a hit of theirs but they had a slower song called I want everything that is still on my playlist
ABSOLUTELY!! The momentum build as it ends is off the freaking charts!!
@@ronparsons8786 It certainly got a lot of radio play!
David Lowery was a member of Camper Van Beethoven prior to forming Cracker. Camper Van Beethoven is one of the great undiscovered bands of the 80s. They were known for doing great covers (Photograph, Wasted, Harmony in My Head,) and one of the greatest "novelty hits" of the 80s, take the Skinheads Bowling. My favorite of all of their tunes is Seven Languages, a beautiful lyric surrounded by a classic 80s alternative groove.
yeh dont forget pictures of matchstick men i just heard on the radio few weeks ago since i live in the same town ive seen them.several times over the years always good show davud johnny band nice guys also.
camper opened for butthole surfers fun show
Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart is my favorite CVB album. One great song after another from start to finish
Eye Of Fatima is a banger, too!
"Border Ska" and "ZZ Top Goes to Egypt"
The next 90's song to check out should be Backwater by the Meat Puppets ❤
There are some things that'll never change
Meat Puppets rocked!!
YEs, good idea...
Yes. Fuckin killer song.
Yes! There are SO many killer songs from this era that aren’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc.
Loved this reaction! _Please_ do more '90s songs, and dip your toes into the '00s, as well. "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)" has to be your next Cracker song. Epic, epic lyrics!
Great song 🎉🎉
"What the world needs now--is a new Frank Sinatra--so I can get you in bed!/What the world needs now/is another--folk singer/like I need a hole in my head!" As you said "epic lyrics," and when combined with that mad onslaught of momentum at the end, well, I found at least that you have an extremely addictive song!
@@joescott8877 without question!!!
David Lowery was a pioneer of alternative music, with the 80's band Camper Van Beethoven when he put this project together. A staple of modern rock radio.
Hell yeah dude, I requested this one! I am elated that you did this one, because it's so awesome sharing in your first experience with songs I've loved for years. Thank you a million times for the shout out.
Now they'll probably do boring crap for a year.
Cracker is alternative Rock - not grunge.
@@edvonblue That's your opinion. They actually lumped themselves in with bands like Nirvana and Bush. Alt-Rock and grunge are like a Venn diagram, half the bands in either genre can easily be categorized under the other and no one who actually listens to the music will disagree. There's a lot of people who like to feel smart by trying to correct other people about things they think they're experts on, but more often than not those people end up with no friends and unable to fundamentally enjoy the very thing they claim to love. You're not even correct in your assertion that Cracker is "not grunge", which makes it even more sad that you were so focused on stroking your ego that you didn't even get any enjoyment out of the video.
@@shack8110 I'm sure they will, but at least they finally did something interesting instead of another completely random song from an unknown solo artist from the mid 70's.
I was 40 when this came out. Cranked it up full volume every time. Full disclosure, I had teenage sons in the 90s. Their music became my music.
This made me think of Glycerine by Bush. Not sure if the boys have done that one yet. A real banger. The guitar tone is insane as are the vocals.
You gotta do the whole album. This band is way underrated.
💯
they are exceptional
Track #69...
Great choice, boys! The whole LP bangs; if you like "Low", you'll like the rest (BTW: full album title is Kerosene Hat). Next 90's song with killer guitar: "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins.
Make sure you listen to the bonus track (only on some cd’s) think it was track 65 or something “Euro-Trash Girl”
@@Keith-if6zv Agreed! The secret "extra tracks" are a hoot (most are blank). Got to dig deep to find "Euro-Trash Girl", the sweetly romantic ode to sleaze, sex and selling your plasma for drug money. Ah, to be young!
Love Cracker. Low was the song that got me into them. Please do more 90s stuff guys you’re missing a lot of good stuff. Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains all wall to wall bangers.
The '90s were the last great era of music and Cracker's "Low" is one of the great singles from that decade. Thanks for hitting it and keeping great music alive.
There's been great stuff since the 90s too, don't doubt it.
@@Trendyflute here and there, yes.
@@Trendyflute Nah, a few bands here and there, but nothing like the 60s-90s
I love the 90s, it was my music decade, but there’s a lot of great music around today. I’d say the weakest decade of my life was 2000-2010. Still some decent stuff there though.
@@tricko8000 - You’re just not looking in the right places.
Always dug this song. Always had to turn the song up when it was on the radio. Another great song is The Distance by Cake!
Yes!!
Yes, I love Cake!
I love Cake. I don’t care what anybody says.
dude just week i was rocking down the road to i will survive
I saw Cake at The Troubador! Great show! Seems like a million years ago. 😢😊❤
This was a huge song back in the day. It came out around the same time as Days of the New, Silver Chair, Soul Asylum, Bush, and Candlebox were flooding the radio. The person who recommended it was 100% right, when this song came on, the radio went up. Nice reaction!
Another 90s band that deserves more recognition is Jellyfish. They only put out two albums, but they're both great, especially their second album Spilt Milk. Highly recommend checking out "Joining a Fanclub" from that one.
When Jellyfish did not become superstars was when I realized that most success in the music business is not related to talent. Two of the finest records ever released!
Great tune. I've always dug the off kilter riff and harmonies.
This ain't grunge. It's just rock, pure and simple.
It's grunge.
@@DustinHawke great song but not grunge. If you listen to any of their other songs you will see that.
What IS grunge anyway ?
@Brian Hardy pretty sure I have this album somewhere and never thought of it as "grunge". That said, I'm not a big fan of such labels. It's music LOL 😂
Grunge is marketing
I love this band. We met them several years ago when they played a show in Georgia. Super nice guys, talented, they deserved more attention than they got. For a perfectly oddball and fun song of theirs, check out Eurotrash Girl. You can't go wrong
There is a great live version of Euro Trash girl from a French TV show (if I remember right). Such a great vibe, and great lyrics.
One of the best songs of the 90's! Fantastic composition!
Do you ever hear a song and think “Andy and Alex haven’t listen to this yet”? I just realized they haven’t heard the song by the Tokens called “the lion sleeps tonight” I get chills every time I hear that one
David Lowry (singer) was also part of the hugely influential Camper Van Beethoven, which has some gloriously weird and fun music from the years preceding his solo career. Probably my fave of those is from Key Lime Pie, the sublime and sunny "Sweethearts," but Beloved Revolutionary Sweethearts is a great album too.
...oh, also, the screamed chorus and the low verses is really typical of a lot of grunge....in fact, there was a movie about the Pixies called "loudquietloud", lol. So good call. And if you want other stuff like this, knowing you've already done the Toadies, then you might try Bush ("Glycerine" is my fave) or Hum (who had 1 major radio song, but it's a good un: "Stars")
I'd go so far as to call Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart my favorite album. By anyone.
Sweethearts, awwww! Best ever!!
Great song from a great album
....this song saved 90s rock. Thank God for Cracker... Love this song. It's great for the car stereo system. The lyrics are fun... The vocals drive the song well.
Great song, their debut album is my favorite!
Kind of like if Tom Petty dipped into grunge/alternative.
Yes, I can definitely see that.
Euro-Trash Girl it’s next. It’s absolutely amazing. I’ve seen Cracker several times at Skipper’s Smokehouse. Great show, too.
Space Hog- "In The Meantime" gives me the same vibe this song does. 90s Alternative Rock 👍
66 years old. Love the strong, strong bass combined with acoustic guitar and ultra-simple but compelling drumming. Cool vocals. Nasty-great lead guitar at the climax.
Another great 90's one is Take a Picture by Filter
One of my favorite tunes. I can listen to this all day!!
Great song from an excellent album. Make sure you find the hidden Easter egg!🐰🥚👀
That right there,...thats a BANGER
The bass player, Davey faragher, has been Elvis Costello's bass player for years
“70s, or that era” - I graciously thank you for considering my generation a part of that , as we were. Elder millennial. Born in mid 80s, cam to being in the mid/late 90s as a skater punk. Beautiful time and we knew it was special.
Thanks for hitting Cracker! I was hoping you would! They are such an underrated band and great live. May I suggest Cake (The Distance) and Weezer (Say It Ain't So) as you continue down the 90s road?
Hello A&A family- hope everyone is enjoying their holidays
A LOT of bar bands at the time played this song (along with Possum Kingdom by The Toadies). Both always filled the dance floor.
Love this song and I used to crank it up in my car. You said Jim Morrison vibes; but this has more Tom Petty vibes for me. Thanks for this great reaction, guys! ✌💙✌
Cant go wrong with Cracker, So many great songs!
Cracker is still touring. Saw them a few times over the past several years, playing to 200-300 people a show. Well worth your time.
Great song. Other songs to give a listen to from the same album include “Loser” and “Euro-Trash Girl.”
The hidden track on Cracker's "Gentlemen's Blues" the song "My Cinderella" with guest vocalist Laura Pergolizzi is a banger.
This song reminds me of the band Tonic. You should check out "If You Could Only See" by them.
“Like some disgraced cosmonaut” is such a great line.
Check out "Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter" frim this era next.
The bassline is dope AF.
The excellent bass-work in this song is by Davey Faragher, who since 2001 has been Elvis Costello’s bassist in his backing bands the Imposters.
Actually, he’s the only member who is different from the Attractions, which was Elvis’s earlier backing band.
Seen Cracker about a half dozen times. Met David and Johnny in person- really down to earth dudes. Cracker made such good music. Very underrated band
Saw Camper Van Beethoven/Cracker at the Sony Hall on West 46th in NYC just weeks before COVID shut everything down. 1st set was CVB, then after a break, David Lowery came out with the Cracker lineup to finish the show
So very glad you had a chance to hear this. The 90's had some really great songs.
Funny... I was just driving home from a meeting this afternoon and this came up in the playlist I had on. I was thinking that this is such a great song and wondered why I haven't heard any reactions to it. Lo and behold... Thanks!!!
There is a sort of country/grunge sound that was around in the 90s - it reminds me a bit of Blind Melon (which is an amazing underrated group with one meme super-hit, "No Rain"). You should check out "Tones of Home" or "Galaxie" - Shannon Hoon is an amazing vocalist from the 90s up there with Chris Cornell and Layne Staley.
Great tune to cover A+A! My 90s favs are Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots. Hopefully you cover them soon!
Absolute banger. And can confirm, I cranked the volume every time this came on the radio.
I love this band, not for everyone, but one of my favorites!!! 😃
Love this song.. one of my favorites from back in the day... experienced a lot of "low" myself, so I get it. Great pick!
The lead singer in Cracker previously fronted the band Camper van Beethoven. They are well worth checking out. Fun and well crafted music.
I still play this song when im in that 90s mood
Ahh, Cracker. So awesome. The lead singer David Lowery also founded a band called Camper Van Beethoven. I would highly recommend you check them out as well.
You guys have to hit some “Candlebox” soon. “You” came out the same time period. The same type of song with a sharp knife’s edge.
Cracker's lead singer is a former member of a group called Camper Van Beethoven, you should check out one of their songs either Take the Skinheads Bowling or Where the Hell is Bill, as always I would just love for you guys to do some Tom Waits, someday you'll do it and wonder why you waited.
That whole "Kerosene Hat" album is awesome! You should also check out "Get Off This", "Euro-Trash Girl" or "Let's Go For a Ride" from it. Also the lead singer's other band, Camper Van Beethovan is pretty great also! Their 1988 album "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart" is amazing.
A 90s group i would love you to check out is "screaming trees" song ' i nearly lost you' highly underrated band !!!
I always liked this band and the lead singer's prior band Camper Van Beethoven. Cheers!
Lowery's voice sounds a bit like Tom Petty sometimes. I loved this band and it is highly underrated. Great tune and it never gets old. I've heard it a thousand times and I still love it.
Same. Before the internet became commonplace and Napster I had always thought this was a Petty tune.
This song is very Petty.
This song was on the radio NONSTOP in the 90s
I just came across this and about to watch, but I remember them as campervan Beethoven at least in part. And actually I love this album that this is from, I think it's called kerosene? A lot of bangers on this album.
But they came through my college town back in my early twenties and in fact the bass player that was later my bass player in my band for a long time was then in a band that actually opened for them at the student union, that is so funny. They were awesome. And the College radio station played their song Take the skinheads bowling all the time. We all loved it. Michael Moore featured it in one of his movies about the Columbine shooting thing in colorado.
Newer Patreon member saying that I love your reaction videos. I sitting thinking about the band Cracker and thought I wonder if Alex and Adam have reacted and sure enough you did.
Okay.....you guys......I have just had a Birthday....I'm 68...Alive and Kicking!!!! lol.....so most of what i consider great music comes from my Era....The Beatles....The Who......The Rolling Stones....Sly & The Family Stones........James Brown...The Supremes.....right? I have bands in the 80's and 90's that I really like and this bands is one of them. I just discovered this band, Cracker, on the radio 2 years ago.....and fell in love with this band....then I went to You Tube and saw the video and I went CRAZY!!! Where have I been? Definitely one of my favorite bands!!!!
One of my favorite bands. Ever. Each album is a trip. Look for the Easter eggs on this one.
Camper Van Beethoven cover of Pictures of Matchstick Men is great! The original by Status Quo is a classic too. Would be interesting to compare the two versions.
Absolutely! Both great!
This is before grunge was a thing. This was categorized as "Alternative Rock" or "Modern Rock" since "Grunge" wasn't yet establisehed as a marketing term.
Aw man, I didn’t recognize the title or artist, but as soon as I heard a few chords I was like, “I remember that song! Hells yeah!”
Having been around in the 90’s and having seen them live several times, I never considered them to be grunge- just really solid alternative rock. I would check out Happy Birthday to Me next as it’s an all time classic that I still send to friends on their birthdays. Teen Angst, Eurotrash Girl, and Take the Skinheads Bowling (by Camper Van Bethoven, the singer’s prior band) are all worth checking out.
Yeah, grunge for me is Nirvana, Soungarden, Alice in Chains and Pedal Jam. Hard to believe Eddie Vedder is the last grunge singer standing.
A great song i had almost forgotten - THANK YOU
This song was probably their best known song.. but their second best known (and arguably a better song) was Teen Angst.
A Chevette, is what this song was listened to in. Lots of 200$ Chevettes around in the 90’s
And it banged
Cracker did one of the great diss tracks about their former record label, Virgin, called Ain't Gonna Suck Itself.
Drummer from the Pixies, David Lovering's band....great stuff. Guys come on, some BREEDERS next...and, more Pixies!
Woot hoo! It's premiere time! 😸
Superb alt rock band. All their songs are killer.
David Lowery worked as a producer in Richmond, Va for a while so had a great connection here and played around here a ton. My friend’s band covered this song and it is a banger to be sure. It is NEVER not cranked up when it’s playing. I would say it has its roots more in punk than grunge. The Punk scene was strong around the art school at VCU in the 80s. Cracker played at one of our music venues for a local charity gig. They were terrific.
same here i think i atrended same show browns island
Saw Pumpkins and Cracker on same tour back in the day. Met the guys from Cracker (Bob Rupe and David Lowery) Both cool guys
Davey Faragher, the bass player for Cracker on this album, is currently the bass player for Elvis Costello.
Awesome! Great reaction.
Lots of bangers by this group: Low, Get Off This, Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now), The Good Life
I wore Kerosene Hat out when it came out.
I hope you guys never split you two are good homies and are a vibe with chemistry take it as far as you can
Saw these guys perform this song live at Harborfest in VA back in the day. Banger!
💥💥💥
Same year, even BETTER SONG:
YOU by Candlebox
Your minds and eardrums will be 🤯🤯🤯💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥
Now we're talking. Cracker is one of my all time favorite bands. Still recording and playing live to this day. Great shows. Dave Lowery's voice is gritty and great. And Johnny Hickman is a fantastic guitarist. One Fine Day is a must!
Yes!
Yes!!
Badass, but also smooth, immersive, and dreamlike at the same time. Grunge could walk that line.
Cracker was one of the hidden gems of the early 90s... Gotta do Teen Angst, among many others.
Great jam excellent band. Saw these guys live.
I do love this, sometimes I need to be reminded there was some good music in this
Decade
Glad you guys are giving some 90s songs a chance. There were some great songs from the gritting grunge era
First time hearing this song and the band. Pretty impressive. Thanks to you guys and Zero Factor for recommendation.
Their Teen Angst is epic!
Prior to grunge it was called alternative which camper van was considered. I put cracker there as well.
