When James comes out with suspenders and no coat, you know shit is about to hit the fan.

If the sleeves come up just run to your safe place. Don't think about it at all. Just get there.

I live no where near Alabama, but I love to stick these long severe weather coverage videos on a watch/listen to them. Just find it so interesting.

I live in Iowa and it's so interesting not only to see how different the weather is here versus there, but how differently meteorologists convey what's going on with the weather. James by far has always done an amazing job of conveying things in a way that's understandable and fun but also informative.

I watched all of this coverage yesterday, excellent job by James and the rest of the team!
RIP to the three in Pickens county :(

Two of the victims were an elderly couple that couldn't move to a place of safety in time. :(

I love the fact that James and the severe weather team of ABC 33/40 take severe thunderstorm warnings as seriously as the tornado warnings, especially when they know the straight-line wind is going to be severe. Though events like this are rare in Michigan, where I am, there was a very similar type of squall line that went through here near the end of August in 2018.
The straight-line wind damage brought down large trees and there were power outages in multiple locations, but the most my local station did was go on the air for about 2-3 minutes to briefly mention that there was severe weather happening, but because there were no tornado warnings in our immediate area, they just went back to regular programming and that was the end of it, even though the map behind the meteorologist that was speaking had severe t-storm warnings all over the place.
It was very frustrating, because any of those bows in the line could have produced wind that was as strong as EF0 or EF1 tornadoes, but because the local forecasters around here prioritize tornado warnings, while just about ignoring everything else, it meant that some people probably assumed they were safe, which would have put them in danger if they didn't pay attention, until the 70+ mph wind affected them. It was really only because I watched James Spann's coverage of past severe weather events (thanks to me being a weather weenie) in Alabama, that I was more cautious about storms up here. I just had to do the work myself to figure out where the storms were at and whether I should go somewhere safe. Some other people might not have paid as much attention, which could have cost people their lives if a tree happened to fall in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Weather weenies unite. Same story by where I live (eastern PA)

Central Iowa weather weenie here. The weather is the same here, they just pick and choose which ones to cover over others and with the way the weather has been over the last few years, you can't drop your guard. July 19th, 2018 here in Central Iowa will always be a perfect example of that. James has always treated every severe weather event the same: it's a threat to life and property until it's confirmed no longer a threat.

As serious and tragic as this event was, I lost it at 9:06. 😂

Watching James on TV is always a treat. He knows how to present the weather in a way that's fun and understandable, but he does not mince words when it's time to be serious.

Yesterday was a reminder that you should take any and every tornado warning seriously. Most don't expect much from a tornado from a squall line, but that Pickens Co. tornado looks like it caused EF3+ damage in its 5-10 mins. on the ground.

although I know James or the other meteorologist dont have much say in something like that

Generally speaking yeah, they dont have much say in advertising on TV, however, I would assume that if it was absolutely necessary they could ask to have it removed for the broadcast.

@William W. Campbell-Shepherd IX Plenty of good folks! Dont lose faith. We hear mostly about the bad apples these days. Coverage of bad news is way more common now, that's all. They're all over social media, but there are tons of normal, good folks.
