That first man was almost to drunk to stand
So hilarious! The lady interviewed all the drunks! LoL😂♥️
Nora matuszewski I know right? The first man was sloshed. .lol...still he got the words out :D. But really what a great building.
@@kangakid5984 lol! The first guy hilarious! Ladies should not go into "Baaaszz"!😂
Yes..I watched again 'do you ever tell a story? Him...'I DddoooOo I love to tell'emm! ( he was the person he warned about) lol
@@kangakid5984 holy cow! Yaasss! They say he's STILL DRUNKARD, & telling his "stories"...
shes irish she's heard it all!
To this day they still have this bar and all its original furnishings so beautiful
Let's go
my qveen i will take you there and buy you a soda. then you will feel very sleepy
With all that marble and statues you knew the bar was there to stay apparently it worked for Greek temples too.
Im 51 years too late, but just wanted to say to that first guy with the glasses.... "Go home old man! You're drunk!'
😂😂
Yes, and when he arrived home his wife said: "Go away old man! You're drunk! That was the beginning of homeless alcoholic people.
He's just getting started
@@lienbijs1205 His wife said: " Drunk again! "
He said: " So am I."
"They have been drinking for years." I totally agree! Never stopped! That first guy is up to his tenth year of straight drinking.
I visited this bar on my birthday not too long ago and I loved it so much. So cool to see it in footage from 1967
Gosh that woman is so beautiful 💖
*was
Absolutely stunning
she *is.
She was Irish
Name Claire Dunne
Some of these men are drunk as hell! Lol
What!! how did that happen?
Omg I love these video's. I've saved them all. Can't wait to show my Mum. 😻✌💖🌍
me too, they're all uplifting compare to how people are now.
All these people are hammered.
*INCREDIBLY DRUNK* And I think that's wrong for ladies to hear those filthy yarns. AHHHHH
Something tells me that those ladies would’ve been pretty bored around that calibre of male drinker.
Love the Marble Bar
1:11😂 🤣 It's 7pm & he's already three sheets to the wind.🥴🥴🥴
Funny how the guy at the start was explaining to her the 'shout' system. She clearly never passed the message.
omg first guy was SMACKED
Is there subtitles for the first guy?
@loarrr Try x2 speed
Gagavshsu uidjhdbdh bajahav g so kabsh hshsgsgskal
Put the playback on 2x and the drunks actually sound normal....
The painting at the beginning of the shot 0.48 definitely would not be allowed today.
And yes nearly everyone interviewed was pie eyed
Pie eyed?
Wow shit are these naked children? O.o so weird to see that in a bar
@@tastycookiechip very drunk. Google is kinda cool
Was that an Irish accent she was modifying?
Sounds like it.
Definitely.
I was just about to comment that her accent sounds a bit Irish haha
The second dude is off his face, and I love how he says a bar should remain a boys club lmao
That Irish Australian was fine
Bugger that is the bar still there
I was trying to figure her accent out. There's definitely an Irish sound to it, but perhaps she emigrated to Australia young and took up (what was then) the main Australian accent.
1:11 - 85 year old Chris Farley.
Can I find this video on your abc/original website? I cant find it myself. If any internetpeople could please point me to it the help would be massively appreciated!
When he said "Ashbolutelydinnalikeit"...
I felt that
This is the bar I'd want to go
Title should specify that is for that specific bar, the Marble Bar in Sydney.
I’m unsure as to if this was the first ever bar to drink for women in Australia as I wasn’t to be born for a few decades.
Good point Bzeager, amended.
Were women allowed in bars?
Do you have to be around at the time to know what happened?
ABC News (Australia) why do you guys kill the comments on some videos? Like the bikini one that could be huge
Drunks ~
say no more
I like the movie "They're a weird mob"
Did Australia have restrictive opening hours at this time? I was told that the men would have to go straight after work and had to drink quickly in the restricted time allowed. All before they went home to their families. Please enlighten me.
Yes 6 o'clock closing . Kust before six was called the 6'oclock swill.
@@joanie1257 Thanks for the reply Joan.
2 : 35 it's jeff Kennett lol even sounds like him
imagine today if u tell someone theres no women in the bar lol
when people wouldn’t lie...
What an Irish beauty I’d happy to have her in my Pub
To be that fat when processed food wasn't as widespread took incredible effort!
At 1:35 that guy is boomed out of his mind. To bad the krays didn’t walk in during this video.
Claire Dunne's still going strong but that Irish lilt is all but history.
hawkesworth1712 is the interviewer Irish?? I thought her accent is a mix of Australian & Irish.
@@georgewoods99 yeah mate her Irish accent been washed with little Ozzie slang .
She has a beautiful Irish accent
she is trying to speak posh English
Invade. Great choice of word.
A SAD DAY FOR MANKIND!!
I'm glad they let us girls in; we was getting thirsty!
Hahaha, at 1:30. Look at that OM with oily barcode sticky hair on sounds like he had drunked. Hahaha, wondering this bar still open or close. Guess I had seen it once around CBD.
It is still open (Hilton hotel Sydney) and never been touched. ♥️♥️
Three words ABC
Nineteen Sixty Seven
52 YEARS AGO!!!!!
In Melb we have ponys, pots, scooners and pints. There is only one pub in the Southern Hemisphere that can legally refuse women, it's in Melbourne and no suprise, it's a gay bar.
Melbourne’s lame
@@disobedientavocado5959 Says you 😎
Yup 😎
@@deletedchannel9945 How nice for you. 😎
Perth best city 😎
What part of 🇬🇧 is this at??
Should have Updated the sign to: ADAMS & EVES
Why are the comments disabled on some of these!? Very annoying.
in australia don't they call it a 'pub'?
MACABRE L.A. They do, it's because the interviewer calls it a bar so they just answer the question as it is
@@theshape3222 i've since heard they use both terms now but before american english really started to saturate the language the term would always have been 'pub'. kinda sad really even here in the states our regional accents are disappearing but i guess it's an inevitable part of the internet.
@@NoirL.A. Youre pretty much spot on. And i 100% agree, its always good to keep what makes your culture unique. As long as its a postive feature hahaha
MACABRE L.A. regional accents aren’t disappearing you just need to get out more
Nah a pub you eat at and kids can sit in some areas
Is she irish
Yeah with her accent abit mashed up with Ozzie accent now I think
Women have their own language
.....1967......" all you need is love....".....It was the arse of the world, wasn't it ?....
People today are starting to forget how history has been cruel and harsh for women. How far humanity has come. But more work needs to be done.
History has been cruel and harsh for everyone, unless you were very wealthy.
@@anneb889 True, to different degrees for different people, very true. And we certainly don't need modern feminism lmao that shits a pointless joke
6.O.CLOCK SWILL ....
This is where the downfall began.
Who said chivalry was dead?
BANNA it is. Women killed it.
@@mc8627 no low quality men like you killed it.
the big ones are pints, not schooners
How can you even tell, these days,if the 'ladies' are actually female?
I know some of them have male genitalia now, it is so confusing.
joseph faulkner pull on it
Wtf
Irish accent
White male privilege in black and white
Oh shut up, you tiresome SJW.
Yeah, and now it's gone...
The days when it was ok to pay a woman a compliment
One thing is make a real compliments with respect. another thing is making sexual compliments or whatever. I feel completely uncomfortable when a complete stranger use catcalling
@BANNA with that remark, you obviously cannot make a clear difference between a genuine, respectful compliment and a sexist or sexual remark. Every real man can.
@Maleficent Um... it's very difficult since 99% of what you say is offensive now.
How incredibly backwards we were and still continue to be
So is this to show equality has made things better or worse? Now that women can do "anything" a man can do is the woman better off? Remember the culture in those days where it took only one income to support a family and a man was happy to work six days a week hard labor for their families. The culture shift to having women outside the home more often and working was for the government to be able to inflate the currency and tax us to death. The government didn't care about women and still doesn't. It's all about currency....always has been. Andrew Jackson was likely the greatest president because he stopped the bankers....something Trump would have done were it possible.
Will you bring your wife here?
Hahaha now females got the same equal right as men had in the past.
Some female now are even powerful than men from the pretty luxurious convertible Maserati car and cruise alone.
Hahaha
Most of the men’s reasons for them not wanting women In bars was to protect them. Now we have women fighting, getting knocked out by men, laying in gutters (I’m from England this is a weekly thing I see)
BANNA women getting taken advantage of sexually nowadays in bars. I think women had it easy back then. I wish I was alive back then
Kay Kay imagine if we could teach & enforce that men should not harrass women
Jagir. The vast majority of men don’t harass women, but there is never going to be 100% for anything.
@@indiaxlovee you really think men harass women because they don't know it's wrong? hahahahahaha
They insist on invading every male space, while still demanding their own.
Go home you're drunk @Jeffery
Jeffrey KRUPA literally everywhere was a male space lol, how is that fair? Oh wait men don’t care about fairness just themselves
@@indiaxlovee Yep. They've always kept the best of everything for themselves, AND dictated to women how they should behave: don't smoke, don't drink, don't swear etc etc etc.
bad mistake.
We should never have gave women the right to vote.
you edited that? Bahahahaha 😂😂
@SRM Solar radiation management fortunately, you have no power in the world.
IT NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THIS WAY, MEN HAVING A PLACE TO GO.and not having women there to pit us against each other.
It's called your house!
Not a public bar on the corner, that's for everyone.
manspaining then she gets hit on. Gross
You just upset that not even a drunk would hit on you 🤪🤣
Mansplaining!? She asked them for their thoughts. Not the definition.
"manspaining"???
🤔
Mansplaining is a term doesnt actually mean anything. Didn't you know?
can you exSPAIN what you mean Manuel?
