Lol watering down your whiskey That’s interesting how your relationships in the hierarchy at all 3 schools has differed. A couple weeks ago I told my Mom that Corwin, his bro, Monica, and I went to go see Gladiator II. We got carded lol. My Mom told me that the first one was one of your favorites growing up. Corwin never saw it until this weekend. Did you see the second? I hope you and Flo are having a wonderful week 😀
I didn't even realize that theaters carded people, well chalk that one up to looking young! So your mom must have been thinking of Josh, he absolutely LOVED Gladiator. I liked it but I was much crazier about Braveheart. That said, thanks for reminding me about Gladiator 2 as I definitely wouldn't mind seeing it. Thanks as always Sis, hope you and your hubby are having a great week as well!
@ Haha, I was under the same impression, too. Oh I see. That’s a nice memory of Josh that my Mom will appreciate :) Oh cool, I’ve seen that iconic movie poster. I’ll have to watch it soon. Looks epic! Yeah, it has many flaws, but still entertaining and worth a watch in my opinion. Have you been watching the Dune Prophecy show? Thanks bro :)
@@DianaGrigg OMG, I had no idea there was a Dune series, I'll definitely check that out. I'm still down to watch a movie with flaws as long as it has gladiators and takes place in ancient Rome lol.
@ Oh how surprising. Yeah, it’s a little slow and cheesy at times, but we’re still enjoying it. We saw the first episode of The Penguin and loved it. Haha, yeah it’s a good mix
Thanks for sharing your life with us Ryan.. I hope all is well with yourself and the new girlfriend .. I hope you have a pleasant Holiday and good new year if I don't see you beforehand .. take care friend ..
@@ryfree Thanks Ryan.. I will let you know everything once I get there currently looking at bicycle from Giant to get back into shape also cannot believe the prices for somethings compared to the west in terms of costs .. Also as my girlfriend is a business woman in the education area. well i'm trying to protect her with the recession happening in China and told her not to buy into any type of property investments at the moment because its too dangerous.. she enjoy knowledge about things and the way I see things differently which is a plus she says.. she also has a kid and I said if we are together long term and taking her son out of boarding school because it isn't good to send kids away for 5 days week plus she can drop him of at school and I can pick him up.. hell I was thinking back in the day I had to get myself to school on my own without any type of support from anybody that's why I have good life skills today also we share similar hobbies for the outdoors she enjoys snowboarding while I enjoy mountaineering but she says I must take care of myself much better with a harnesses instead of not using one.. well I think I found my soulmate because I feel so differently with her like we know each other for such a long time ..
The hierarchy you laid out is pretty much similar to mine but I have two separate coordinators which are my Teach Taiwan coordinator and my FET (Foreign English Teacher) coordinator. Since Taichung is huge we have separate FET coordinators for different areas of the city. What I find curious is they don't have vice-principals here (at least from what I've seen) like they do back in Korea. Just an observation.
Always good to hear how they do it in other parts of the country, thank you for sharing what it's like in Taichung. In every school I've been at, the director of Academic Affairs is the de facto vice-principal. Hope your December classes are going well!
About 30 years ago, I asked myself two questions: why am I self sabotaging and how is it even possible that self sabotaging can exist? I still think its a worth while question
A great question indeed my philosophical friend. It reminds me of what Dmitri told his younger brother Alyosha in The Brothers Karamazov: "Yes, man is broad, too broad, indeed. I'd have him narrower. The devil only knows what to make of it! What to the mind is shameful is beauty and nothing else to the heart. Is there beauty in Sodom? Believe me, that for the immense mass of mankind beauty is found in Sodom. Did you know that secret? The awful thing is that beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and the devil are fighting there and the battlefield is the heart of man." Did you find any good answers with the ancient Greeks?
@@ryfree There is indeed a battlefield. The irony is when things are self-inflicted; not through external attack. That's what is incomprehensible in my own life when I view such situations. Just a comment. As for the Greeks; they seldom agreed on anything which means you can cherry-pick if you want.
@@toddswanson2822 Well perhaps if you give me an example of what you're talking about, it would be easier to comment on. In my own life, I have noticed that my left hand often has plans that my right hand knoweth not about.
Hey Ryan, I've been lurking the channel for a few months now. I was wondering between a buxiban or a public school which you would recommend for someone teaching English in Taiwan? I've heard varying opinions but thought you might offer some insight as you actually live there and work teaching English. Thanks.
Hey Michael, questions from lurkers are always appreciated. When it comes to pay and vacation time, I think the public schools generally offer a better package. That said, with buxibans you can usually go in, do your job and get out while at public schools you're expected to hang around the office even when you don't have classes. I think you're less likely to deal with contract shadiness in the public schools. And there's the obvious question of which type of schedule you prefer, a more standard 8-4 at a public school or an afternoon/evening gig at a buxiban? Short answer: public schools are better unless you get into the right buxiban and it suits your lifestyle and personality.
Thanks again! Enjoy your night
My pleasure, thanks for watching D--man!
