Thank you, great video. I'm about to buy one of these and have concluded it's better than most options for IDE drives. I doubt anyone will see this comment, but maybe it can help someone in the future.
-As you've demonstrated, the width of the unit doesn't block the 4-pin power socket on drives where it's directly beside the IDE connection. Many others are too wide and make it impossible to plug in the power cable.
-All photos I've seen show that the power supply is UL certified. It should theoretically be safer than a power supply that's only CE certified as that's not exactly a strict reputable certification. A very important thing to consider when dealing with fragile old drives containing irreplaceable data. Also gotta give Fideco credit for showing the labels on the power supplies in their product marketing.
-The price. Hard to beat for ~$20 plus the pros mentioned above.

Thank you for this video! I've been searching for years this kind of solution for my old DVD/CD writers (IDE).

I ordered this today for looking through some old drives. Only 24 quid, so not gone up much...
Will let you know how I got on...

Arrived today, both desktop and laptop not responding at all. Instructions tell me to connect two old hard drives, I understood it to be able to read from my old hdd , probably send back asap…

I really want to love this, I got it because my old PC went kaput (for whatever reason) and I needed to get stuff off of it. I wanted to try the SSD and the HDD. I am trying the SSD first, it shows up in the This PC section, as it says it will, but one of two things happens
1- The loading green bar in IE either KEEPS loading and never stops
    or
2- It shows what's in the folder ie; D: / Users / Kristi and then when I click ANYTHING it freezes the explorer and I gotta turn the adapter off and start all the way over again.
Is there another way to do this? CMD? Safe mode? There has to be a reason why I am the only one complaining about this. I've seen other people complain about it taking a long time and working in the end and I've seen people complain about explorer freezing but it works eventually.
Mine will literally FREEZE the entire PC. I just want my files.

Hello, how lucky you are that it works. I have bought a POSUGEAR adapter. I have windows 11 and I have tried with 2 different DVD writers and impossible to make it work. It drives me very upset. Thank you anyway for this very clear video. Good evening

If it's IDE or SATA (standard ports) then it should do.

could you use a sata dvd writer with this?

Hi Lumpy Biscuits, Yes it works with a SATA DVD writer. The SATA adapter just provides a converter mechanism so it appears as a normal drive within Windows.
