Oh, that new Sections functionality is literally exactly what I was hoping would be added eventually. Definitely updating for it!

Yes, that's really big improvement. And from what I know we can expect 1-2 similar new features in next few months.

Now the Energy Dashboard just needs to show the costs of the electricity of the device

You can do this already if you add the devices individually to "Electricity Grid" Grid Consumption section rather than Individual Devices section.
This does mean more planning as your bulk usage would need to be removed in favour of individual circuits or appliances, but it does give that option of cost per device if done that way.
Alternatively, the individual devices section does show how many kilowatt hours are used, you can just multiply kilowatt hours by your electricity cost and get it that way. The math is pretty simple :)

I keep seeing videos about the update and my system keeps telling me “No Updates.”

    Thanks for the quick summary.
This 2024.9 will be those release that I will entirely skip. Maybe the 2024.10 will contain something useful too.. :(

Unless there are major changes to back end stuff, like services, calls, or add ons, I often skip a lot of updates until one has items in it that I find useful. Like most things, if it isn't broken, don't change it. :)
I agree with you on skipping ,though I like the Sections updates and I want to redo my dashboard, so I will likely update to 2024.9, but I am still on 2024.6 at the moment :).
Sometimes I wish Home Assistant would update less frequently, like maybe once every 2 months for major releases so there is more in it at one time, rather than lots of what are essentially incremental updates, but I know a lot of people don't like that idea. Home Assistant users can be a bit fanatical at times.

Sections will be really great for my use case. The AI voice stuff, not so important to me. I guess I see a smart home as doing things on its own in the background and only be noticed if it stops working. I see voice assistants as just a glorified remote control, which I feel is not as smart as some like to make it out to be. That said, I do like wall switches and things that can be used by guests or other household members as automations are never a one size fits all. Wall switches need to be in the way they are programmed so automations don't override the manual control, and also so manual control doesn't kill automations permanently. It's all such a fine balancing act.
Off topic for the video. I really like that you use the full word Merchandise. All these other channels that just say "Merch" make me cringe a bit. Just the way I am I guess.

True about voice, but AI is bringing something in future that we didn't have before. AFAIK - if for example you open the door, voice assistant will welcome you and offer to do some standard routines/automation - that's going more in line with Smart than just replacing remote/switch with voice.

@@BeardedTinker Yes, Welcome messages and weather reports and traffic, that is different for sure. The thing is, whenever I see people highlighting the voice capabilities in Home Assistant, even Nabu Casa staff, they are only using it as a remote control for lights and things like that. It's not really a great showcase for it because every voice assistant can do that stuff. Does that make sense?
