This Magnus guy seems pretty good, he should try going professional.

You got an “this is hard” and a “oo, good move” and a “you’re playing better than my liking” out of him!!! That’s a victory in my book.
Which basically means she won and he lost because hes not as good as he thinks he is 🙂
Edit: Guys i had no idea how chess worked plus i just learnt carlson is that guy in the chess game leave me alone im at work and yall harrasing me. Carlson the best 😭😭😭💀💀💀💀

@@poopystoopywoop8308 not only is this a moronic, but a terrible attempt at sarcasm.
What I found particularly impressive was his comment at the start, how he would talk to the streaming audience, "If I win," not when he wins, but IF he wins. So respectful.
Anything can happen in blitz
Kind of a forgone conclusion.
He is Norwegian, a man of the people.
I don't follow the man's career. Has he always been that way, or has he been humbled over time?
Come on, he knows he's going to win!
0:45 When he realized you opened with catalana and he smiled because you are good 🔥
His mood dramatically improved when he realized she can actually play.
I mean she is a not a GM but still a well know player. Pretty sure Magnus knows who she was from the get go.
@@phoenixav9550 She literally mentions something they talked about in a previous encounter in the video.
Magnus knows her already… can’t believe the likes idiots give the OP.
I noticed that too. Guy might be likeable, but does not like to lose!

That "this is not easy" from him, is a huge badge of honor.

pretty obviously a lie tho
Couldn't be more of a lie tho. He was ahead the entire time

I like that this is our world champion, someone with a good sense of humor and who is not so serious, he even makes jokes in the middle of the game, he completely breaks the stereotype of a calm chess player who just spends his time in silence studying
The stereotype applies only to humans: Magnus is not human.
Hes the peoples champion. Just arrogant enough just light hearted enough
He is not a likable as Hikaru kinda a bit arrogant but not much
Never knew there was such a stereotype. At least I never consider chess players to be anything like that.
Fr like I expected some old fart who is always negative and needs to be humbled
He is not shy to acknowledge a good move..... Benevolent to offer advice. Good champion.
Is he a club champion ?
@@anthonyfereday9991Is this a joke?
@@kevinhougesen1473 I really think that I could have a chance to beat this guy. So he couldn't be very good.
@@anthonyfereday9991 if you didn't know he has won multiple world title, he is probably the best player in history
Aw I love that he really had the game in good faith:) whenever she asked questions or got stuck he did try to give her genuinely good advice. When you’re so good you can help people and still win:)
4:45 Anna: “is this losing if I just go back?” Magnus: “yes but it is also losing if you do other things” 😂
at that point it was true
@@toriless he was when she sit sown

Look how he stare at her after she laughed 😂😂😂
She played really well.. at first magnus did not take it seriously but after sometime magnus realised that it would not be a silly game. So he focused properly
Yep, it finally occurred to him that he should probably focus his eyes on the board instead of her chest.
@@Wyl7 a valid tactic!!
I'm from Madrid and I can't stop watching videos of huge people playing chess in El Retiro, which is happening in my city that I never thought I could see Nakamura or Carlsen among others at the humble tables of the club in the park. amazing video.
When you're competing against the person who is literally the best at something *in the whole world* , and they tell you you're "doing a little too well for my liking"...I'd say that's a victory in and of itself.
yep! she held her own for quite a while before making a mistake when she wasn't sure what move to play
correction: best at something *OF ALL TIME*
I'm pretty sure Magnus just said that because he's well-mannered
Yes maybe Magnus didnt play so serious in the start, unitil he started to play more serious, that he was abel to win the game.
If he struggled with her, hes not best🙂 it’s pretty obvious🙂 he is overrated🙂
He’s like an anime boss, who is bored for centuries until he finds a worthy enough opponent, for him to entertain himself.
Pregganandha has defeated him
*HE HOOKED UP WITH HER FOR SURE*
I’ve defeated him, with black pieces
Honestly laypeople watching Carlson are often too hung up on whether or not an individual game is won, while what makes a person world champion is how consistent their winning is.
@@organicliving5445 Pragganandha no? lmao
Okay, that was so dang fun to watch. As the game went on, you eased him out of the mildly awkward mega-genius to a having-fun mega-genius. I'm a huge Magnus fan, and I'm really enjoying your channel, Anna!
What I like about you Anna, is that you play until the end without surrender, so we can follow the moves and know how the checkmate was made.
Anna: "Is this just losing if I go back?"
Magnus: "Yea. . . but it's also losing if you do other things"
Hilarious
@TaZeR Yeah, Magnus is a rather common Norwegian name.
@TaZeR In Scandinavia I wouldn't be surprised if it is (or was till the 2000's) top 10 most common name. Refering to the fact that since the 2000's most people (in Sweden at least) seem to start naming their kids nerdy names their grandparents had, that went out of style...
@TaZeR there's a famous climber called magnus mitdbo who's from Norway and since magnus carlsen is also from Norway, I assume it's a common name there.
@@LxquidVFX I am norwegian and yes, Magnus is a common name in Scandinavia.
I'd be one of the spectators with my hand on my chin watching the game intently while having absolutely no idea what you guys are doing tactics wise.
Busted! 0:33 "Someones coming to my left. Oh a hot woman, quickly look away. Let her pass you, but check her ass" :D
😂
I make it 400 people who are just the same as you.
I'd do the same, but instead, I'd be nodding, just like in my Math classes :')
"Hmm, yes, the bishop does move diagonally. Excellent move"
Legend says that she let him win to hear "hi chat"
You did amazingly well. He was impressed by quite a few of your moves. Excellent job! And on top of it all you were happy, fun and commanded his respect. Well done Anna!!
Magnus is this weird combo between awkward and charismatic that I can't quite figure out.
He seems like he constantly would rather be somewhere else.
he's awkward af but funny and pretty genuine. which totally works somehow
I have been following chess since Karpov was WC and Magnus is by far the most mediatic of WCCs
To be famous as a kid for being a genius and then continuing to be as an adult is fascinating to witness!
And always has good hair
You got a "this isn't easy" out of him!
Lol. Magnus starts saying “I think I’m worse here” after like 2 moves in every game.
And he proceeded to laugh. Obviously he was joking.
I think he meant for her haha
Ikr? Pretty good

I've watched this 3 times now. Each time, I feel really proud! Love it. You did really well!! 😊
It's the little interaction and smiles for me cause we're so habitual of watching him Stoic face in tournaments and he doesn't feel like human but this was so wholesome 😂❤
He respected your game. That's a compliment and a half. You could just tell from the start that he was thinking 20 steps a head. Guy's a genius
Kinda a shame he doesn't have the ability to apply that brain in engineering or some other profession.
@@SkaterStimm Same with artists and sports players. If only they applied themselves to something useful, what a world this could be.
@@ClarkPotter what are u guys talking about, I think that is a talent for chess and football for example, and that can not be used in any other realm, I mean if he tried to use his abilities as well as he does in chess he would fail
@@ClarkPotter a dystopic one
First, Carlsen should not have been tapping the metal table which is distracting to the opponent. Second, this just proves Fischer was right about how classic chess is too much about memorization. I call it "memorization through familiarization"!
That guy has the potential to be great if he takes chess seriously.
Im not sure if this is sarcastic
I think he's a little old to become competitive though
@@austinhenry1363 agreed he should definitely just keep playing as a hobby
the dude might become an FM but higher than that… man he’s too old
Nah this ain’t sarcastic
Everyone is talking about how fast Magnus moves his pieces but I'm stunned by the fact that shes able to hold her own and actually push the literal no. 1 person in the game for over 6 minutes. That's a huge W
Better than Bill Gates that's for sure lol.
He could have won faster, he’s way more agresiva
I mean if we are being honest I think Mr magnus was extending the game because he liked the company
She took 5:45 to make her plays
That’s the only reason it extended
Granted she would beat me in 20 plays or less
@@ronaldbennett1655 You need to practice chess if she would beat you in 20. At least try to reach 1000 rating. Her current, not even 2000, rating is frankly not very impressive.
Que el jugador más fuerte de la historia te alabe 3 veces en una partida lo dice todo! Ana es una jugadora muy fuerte y siempre es tan dulce, Amable y simpática, además de bella 😊 al igual que sus padres es una crack!
I enjoyed how they discuss the game and tactics during, obviously, improvement is a never ending journey.
I love how he broke into smiles whenever Anna made things challenging for him. He loved to face a serious opponent.
Well, Anna is not a serious opponent for him.
I think it was that added to the fact she's a pretty girl with a great personality. She charmed him. We saw his warm side haha. Defintely wholesome.
He wasn't taking her serious until 3 moves in as someone said. He also was helping and smiling. I doubt he'd consider her serious. She's good though obviously. Very good. Just not a serious opponent for the 🐐

Magnus felt like he really had fun playing. Even accepting to play against Anish without being on competition. This is the real Candidates

2:45 That “don’t be scared” was him acknowledging your ability and wanting you to be as sure as he was. I love that 😭😭
It’s always cool when you see people at the top of their craft have these humble moments. Probably pretty cool for Anna too to have that respect from a champ.
Don't be scared, cause I would like to win you by my skills, not my reputation of my skills. Do your best, don't be scared, cause you are gonna regret to spend your match with me in such nervous way.
Right...he was enjoying a worthy opponent.
He said don't be scared because she bumped his queen with tempo winning a pawn, and then second guessed whether she should accept a free pawn from a world champion lol.
he seems like a very kind person
She asks: Do I lose if I make that move?
He replies: Yes, but you also lose if you make other moves as well.
He's straight gangster. 😂
That was amazing! He complemented quite a few of your moves. I wish we had the clock on the screen. He said he was going to try to win on time at some point.
You'd think that after beating everyone in the world for 20 years he'd get a little bored with the game, but he's super cool and really seemed to enjoy himself. Well done on both parts.
lol,,,,not everyone.
very difficult to get "bored" with chess in my opinion as it seems to the the better you get the more there is to learn
He's playing poker more nowadays.
@@veidec obviously he hasn't played all 7 billion people but he's beaten all the best players

What suggestions could I use during a match, when there´s a "smarty cheater" at the Openings that uses the Queen either on H5 (in case i´m Black) or A4 (in case I´m White)?
I always try to defend with Knight G1 on F3 (In Black) or Knight B1 in A3 (in White) - so I can protect my Tower in A1 somehow...
The problem is that the "smartty" guy/girl will lead the Queen at the diagonal, either on F2 (checking my King on E1 - In black), or D2 if I´m in White.
It´s harder if the opponent is in Black, but when he´s in White, I always suffer that kind of attack during the openings.
And the King can´t catch the Queen when it´s "above" him, or something like that... I´m still studying...
Of course I´m a starter player, but I love chess...
But I´m really tired of losing to these "smartty" ones who don´t like to play Honestly...
I mean... Instead of doing good openings and Developing a good balanced and fair game, they only use the Queen to kill all my chances, you know?
I believe that´s not Chessing. It´s just joking.
Anyway... What suggestions could I try? Could you please help me on that questions?
Thank you so much!

Quite an honor to play Magnus, and you held your own pretty well.
Anna Cramling is probably the top female player in Sweden. I hope she gets IM one day. All she has to do is get her rating up a little more. I can see her improving from 2200 to mabe 2400 in the future and getting into the lower end of IM.
He is a chess legend, what an honor to get feedback like that from the best of the best.
I think the sealing miss was at 4:32 e.g. Knight D1 to C3 after that knight c3 to e2 with help Bishop for check a4 to a5.
It would still be a difficult position but not yet a definitive loss. But I have a good point, look at the "recording". It was a nice game.
After Nc3 Bxe4 just looses a pawn... and you don't have time to reposition the bishop from a5 to a4, because d7 is very fast and deadly. Game over!
"Don't be scared" followed by own quick move and a little happy dance with his head. Yup, nothing to worry about there :D
Great game, thanks for bringing it to us!
He saw how the game would end from after the queens got traded or earlier, and then he was just teaching 😂 Gotta love him
