It's a combination of both there is no I in team. The defense coordinator job is to draw up a scheme to fit the players. The d-line position coach job is on a more personal level by developing players to reach their full potential.

If you pair up CU with the other BIG12 contenders like K-state, Utah, Iowa state , BYU, and possibly Arizona. CU has the better skill players so we know CU has that advantage so it will come to guys up front and I think CU wins those games 8/10 with O-line and the front 7 . Ps K-state and Utah play at Folsom field 😅
After watching Utah yesterday I fully believe there isn't a team in the BIG12 that CU can't beat. That doesn't mean we run the table or win the conference, but CU has a chance in every game.
It’s funny that the media had no problem questioning CUs ab based on their weak schedule. But they had no problem touting UCF as the top rushing team in the country after playing New Hampshire, Sam Houston and TCU. They’re a good rushing team, sure. But…really???
I’m excited to see Shilo’s return with what we have seen from NHG, Bentley, & Cam S-C relentlessly running to the ball & laying the stick. Defensive chemistry is lvls above the first couple games before Shilo got hurt.
You guys know CFB and are way, way better than the cartoons on ESPN. Keep on putting out your great content, and we will keep on watching, liking, subscribing and sharing!
What was lost in last year’s 4-8 is that CU had the biggest improvement in point differential in CFB in 2023. The program was so down that even a massive improvement only equated to 4 wins.
Shurmur is mixing up the Offensive gameplan like a wizard right now. Coach Loadholt and Coach Flea + Coach Phillips are also doing a great job on the offensive side. Once they get the TE 4-5 touches a game it’s a wrap.
Just realized Us & Kansas St both have Bye weeks which I prefer cuz idk if it helps teams coming off dominating Big12 comp like both teams did & taking a week off could lose momentum cuz we played our best game & they played maybe there’s as well or the Arizona game.. hope the game is 2:30 kickoff instead of late game. TCU & Nebraska we’re day time game last year as well as UCF this year… all 4 to start been night games & only time we dominated last year @ night was Stanford for a half & lost. We played our best then & that may affect guys differently depending.
Nebraska’s “D” crushed CUs O-line for sure and was responsible for half the sacks on CUs season. But, Sheduer does not like to throw the ball away, he’s supremely confident in his receivers getting open along with his own escapability. Therefore it’s important to separate the “sacks” and “pressures” when he has the ball in his hands for over 3 seconds. Do you blame his O-line for a sack or pressure after 3 seconds or do you credit the other teams secondary. Nebraska had plenty of socks and pressures under three seconds for sure. But it seems like it’s a blanket statement that CU has a bad line but they’re not pointing out how long Shor is hanging on the ball. And how many seconds he typically has before he gets sacked. That’s a huge difference.
What needs to be discussed is, this was NOT a fluke. i.e, it wasn’t a bunch of special teams mishaps, interceptions, bloopers, and odd plays. IT WAS BASIC FOOTBALL! Running the darn ball! BLOCK! Tackling (wrapping)! Gang tackling! O-Line playing with a CHIP!!!! Receiver getting OPEN! Defense played LIGHTS OUT! This is football… any coach knows, if they play their EXACT SAME WAY from here out, they can beat even the mighty Alabama! Why? Because that’s football. The losses come from boneheaded indiscipline! Missed assignments. Lack of focus! And INCONSISTENT PLAY! The teams better them rely heavily on DEPTH! Decades of recruiting dominance and years of depth from high schoolers being developed. Hard to overcome that. I love football because Appalachian State can beat Michigan if they are willing to commit to playing FOOTBALL! In the trenches, every down!
