I remember watching this when I was a kid and I read the book a few years later. I remember both book and TV show giving me the willies back then and nothing has changed almost 40 years on. Thanks for helping me relive my childhood terrors, lol.
Fantastic! I loved this growing up ,my other faves were Saphire and Steel, Dr Who,,Book Tower ...not forgetting Hammer house of Horror and Monkey! This has been on my mind for years never thought I'd see it again. Thanks!
I absolutely loved this back in 1978, and was searching for years to view it once more, not a lot of people remembered it when I asked, but persistence always pays off. Naturally it would be great to have the entire full episodes and I know the German DVD version is out there also. This is a Gem, and made my childhood all the more uplifting, it's one of those rare programmes with special feelings attached to it, another one similar was 'Traveller in Time', made around 1979, many thanks for the upload, this has made my night.
I loved this as a child even though it kind of scared me at the same time :) I can't believe it is almost 40 years ago :o where has that gone? Funny that this always stuck in my head like The Children of the stones and The Enchanted Castle great scary children's Television lol I think today's children would be traumatised lol :)
Thank you ever so much for putting this on UA-cam! Wherever did you get hold of this? I have watched all six episodes over two nights and REALLY enjoyed it. (I could not find episode four, part one, but saw all other bits in sequence.) I was unaware of the television series. But a few years ago I was in a second had book store and a paperback copy of the original book by Pamela Sykes jumped out at me. I intuitively realised that it was the sort of book I would like, so I bought it, read it right away, greatly enjoyed it. I have re-read 'Come Back Lucy' several times since. The front cover showed a still from the TV programme, and the back cover said that the book had been televised. So I was really glad to see the TV version, which is remarkably faithful to the original book: even the actors do not look too different to how I could imagine the characters in the book. Thank you for putting this on UA-cam for people to share!
+Robert Halliday I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know how much I enjoyed it when I first saw it on You Tube for the first time since my childhood, so I thought I'd upload it for other people in case it would please like-minded fans! It used to be on You Tube some years ago , and that is where I got it. Unfortunately, when I came to upload I discovered I'd accidentally not downloaded the episode section you missed, so I obviously couldn't upload that; however I think and hope the story can still be followed. I also had the novel as a child, and re-read it many times later on during my teens, as I was such a fan of it. A fantastic book, I agree, and I like how the series was so faithful to the story.
Excellent! Fascinating to see the constant references to communal living & communism intermingled with the more obvious spooky story line. Thanks for the upload.

OMG it's all coming back now. A fear of mirrors for a while as a child.
I loved this as a child - I'm amazed it was as long ago as 1978. I always wanted to dress up in victorian clothes. Thanks for uploading this :)
Me too. I had the book, as well. I was so envious when they found the clothes in the attic. I didnt even have an attic.
Why am I even doing this to myself... this TERRIFIED me as a child...

I love weird stuff
This was honestly super horrific and frightening when I was a child I think it caused me trauma
what's the deal with the stop clock
still can't understand why no proper uk release dvd just german version with english soundtrack but edited
It reminds me of sapphire and steel in a strange way
it was made by the same company (ATV) and had the same producer - Shaun O'Riordan.
This is similar to horror film don't go to sleep about a ghost girl haunting her sister under her bed I think they copied this series
