    Just watched this, it was in depth. I figured a year later you would update us but I searched for GMMK on your channel and didn't see an update.

    The main issue with the G815/915 and 915TKL are the keys for me/us. I used the TKL and one of my sons the 915 and we had no letters after about 8 to 9 months and you really cant' replace the keys. He is still using my TKL but I switched to a GMMK Pro and have been very happy. I do a lot of UNIX work so I want my F keys but have finally gotten use to no numpad... taken a while but I don't have space with multiple customer laptops on my desk plus the gaming issue you mention. I'm getting ready to build a keyboard for my sister, who needs a numpad, so I've been eyeing this for a while. I have some Glorious Raptors (VERY CLICKY) in my Pro I'll probably replace with Pandas for tactile to put in hers. Those keycaps actually look great IMHO! Thank you for showing how big it is vs the TKL, don't think I've seen anyone show that!

    THANK YOU for showing side by side all the keyboards. Now i know it is similar to tkl as its size. And it finished my keyboard search. I was looking a compact size white keyboard with iso-tr keycaps. I looked %75 and tkl keyboards. There are some options but i couldnt find any iso-tr keycaps. And glorious offers gmmk 2 96 with white iso-tr layout. Now ill just buy it and im perfect! Thank you again mr!

    The reason why I chose GMMK 2 96 over mod 007 v2 and GMMK pro is because of the numpad and software support

      I'm liking it so far. I'm still trying to find wider key caps that are low profile as well. I think i found low profile switches that will work

      @@BlueprintPC Same on me, but I'll stick to the aura keycaps and noisy switches for my preference

    Less than 96% has its place. Far away from my desk.
    Honestly, I use the numpad and nav cluster on my 96% when playing games, as I'm a left-mouser. I'm just glad the GMMK uses the 1800 layout instead of cramming the nav cluster and numpad super-tight like the RK100. That little space makes SO MUCH DIFFERENCE.
    Also, I'm 100% with you on reds. Light linears are just horrible for typing. SO easy to hit more than one key per press if you're not incredibly careful.

    Loving the content and I myself recently (not even 2wks) got into custom building keyboards my first pick is the GMMK 2, wanted to know how your GMMK Pro has been doing haha

      Hey there, so I still use it everyday as it's my main KB on my personal rig. I need to do the follow up video but feel it's gonna be another rant as I am to this day still in love and torn at the same time. I have made some changes since this video( some good and bad) but overall still feel like I'm looking for the perfect KB while this is the closest I can find so far

    I just ordered the GMMK2 96 % myself (pre-built) and hence was looking for more impressions of it and found this. I know the neverending search for a perfect keyboard, lols.
    Hoping the GMMK2 especially with hotswap capability will finally fit the bill.
    I'm using Razer Huntsman V2 TKL atm with clicky switches and it's very good but the lack of numpad is felt, plus I'm honestly not sure if it's actually the "click" I like or the bottom-out feeling in this one.
    GMMK2 96 % is only one button unit wider than the TKL I have now if I got it right and I've always found compact layout keyboard the most comfy to use, the less "stuff" there is around the edges the better.
    Curious to hear how you liked the GMMK2 and is it still in use for you or did you find something better?

    Appreciate the video and how in depth you went
    I'm wanting the barebones kit as well, but what's stopping me is what I assume is the loss of the (display of) function keys (To toggle volume etc). It looks like that feature is only present on the their pre built model (with the abs key caps). Do you know if they make any other key caps for this board that do the job? If not, I might still buy it as it looks like a great value board

    • @BlueprintPC

      Hey there so if you go thru the build your own set up on their site they have multi options there. They are the same basic sets with mostly cosmetic changes. I actually changed out my keys and switches again...(more on than in a video). I do miss the media keys that were on my G815. Their are options on the market for stand alone media keys etc. To be honest the 96% board is a learning curve and will take some time to adjust. It's still my daily but I am not if I am sold 100% yet.

    I have the original GMMK tkl with Kailh Box Brown switches, "pudding caps" and thick grommets to dampen noise. I also have the GMMK Odin mouse. GMMK's sampler is a great way to find what switch you like.

    • @BlueprintPC
      @BlueprintPC  2 роки тому +1

      I ended up dampening mine and sorta go low pro switches...(follow vid coming). I wish they made a native lo pro version of this keyboard. How are you liking the kailh browns?

    • @MetalGeek464
      @MetalGeek464 2 роки тому

      @@BlueprintPC I really like them. I was a lifelong MS Natural and then Sculpt KB user along with various Ergo mice. As an IT pro and PC gamer since the 90s, I have wrist and hand fatigue a lot even with all the Ergo tech. Once I moved to the "Non" ego mechanical with the Browns and the Odin Mouse, my fatigue issues have all but stopped. Not something I was expecting, but now I don't have to use two KB and Mice. :) And I have a Tecware board with Red switches that my Son runs now. I used it to test out switches.

    • @BlueprintPC
      @BlueprintPC  2 роки тому

      Hey there, sorry for the delayed reply. I have fatigue issues as well at times. I think that is where the low pro keyboards help me the most. I think for the Gmmk2 I need to get a good wrist rest to balance out the height. (still figuring that out tho) Also I have a couple techwares as well. They aren't bad for the money tbh.

    I just bought my GMMK backbone yesterday. I did not use their official recco switches and keycap. Instead, I use Gopolar x Gateron Azure Dragon Tactile Switches and AKKO ASA Clear Transparent Keycaps (translucent black with yellow font). I felt it was a perfect heavy combo.
    I move to tactile as I still want the slight clickies and more feedback when I type.
    I love the mechanical switches, but over time, I think I press them too hard, which is abuse to my beloved Armaggeddon MK keyboard (100% layout. I bought it 2 years ago on a budget, pre-build)
    Plus, I also purchased a Keychron K7 with blue switches, which I kinda regret because I realised I am either 100% or 96% layout person.
    I face the same issues when it comes to switches that bend when you don't plug them properly.
    But do let me know your thoughts on this keyboard.

      Hello there, so the 96% is still my daily for the moment but once my new set is done I will be playing catch up with videos. Short answer for now is I like it but not sure if i love it. I also smash keys, thats why I need good feed back so I know when I hit them lol. I have slightly modded mine sooooo its still "in progress"

      Was in the same boat recently myself, I never realized how much I use the 10-key until I bought a TKL board (though thankfully I went a much cheaper board than the keychron), and I will definitely never give it up again. Ordering a GMMK 2 96% (aka 1800 format) barebones too, with Akko Lavenders. I haven't settled on a cap set yet though, what's your opinion on the Akko Clear keycaps' sound?

    • @AyuyA1320
      @AyuyA1320 Рік тому

      @@KiraSlith i think it sounds okay with the switches. It give the old 80's keyboard vibes sounds. However, I'm potentially changing the keycaps because its too bright for me as i work in the dark.

    I know I'm a few months too late, but I believe these switches need lubing. You can hear them scratching. Lubing should make them feel and sound a lot better.
    Being a low-profile-keyboard-guy myself, I wonder if you got used to gmmk 2's profile quickly. Didn't find an update video on this in your feed.

    • @BlueprintPC
      @BlueprintPC  Рік тому

      Hey there, So you are correct. I did lube them eventually lol. Which did help. I have done a few other things since then. I have not done the follow up video just yet as I am torn. There are a few "growing pains" as the keys are laid out more compressed than my other key boars which throws me off when typing fast. I have found a work around to Glorious saying you "can't" use lo pro switches... I will touch on this in a follow up video.
