- How choose a location & gather super shelter materials in a responsible way. The first of two videos on how to build the Mors Kochanski super shelter in it's classic form.
very useful information. you seem like a responsible bushcrafter. i would never worry what so-called no-tracers think. they would set perfect examples for the rest of us if they neutered themselves
Hah. Thanks for your comments. Take care
GREAT ! Mtn Mel here in W. Colorado, tipi camp. .( Ret.59-82 USN SERE -POW Inst . ) Really miss my ol Pal Mors . Met him yrs ago at Rabbit Stick , then we shared the Internatural Conference.in Sweden , excellent info / Comradeship by 17 countries ,Thanks to Capt Lars Falt ! May Mors RIP and I hope he's still
teaching . It's so sad when I recall. Ha, they always ask Mors & I to have a talking contest , Ha. He was 110% pure knowledge ! Not sure if he had ever been in jungle areas ? --- Wish he could have went with me to the P.I. Negrito village - where I had 3 yrs duty. I know he would have invented some great idea for us ( The Amazon was unique, ho hum, but it is a rainforest. ) Thank You all for sharing the super Mors K info ! Mel Deweese & Molly Blue ( my true , faithful Aussie Heeler pup ---- " heater " in my snow cave. )
Thanks for your awesome comments Mel. I remember Mors mentioning you in the past. It is really incredible that you were at the International Conference in Sweden. Wow! That conference, and Mors, inspired us to start the Global Bushcraft Symposium in 2019 - and again in the UK in 2022. Everyone really misses Mors for sure. I feel fortunate to have been mentored by him and be part of his teaching lineage. Thanks again and take care. Dale
Incredible! I had just discovered your series on the super shelter yesterday and I was wondering when you were going to post the rest of the series you promised was coming, and here the next day, here it is! How nice for me!
Very much enjoying your series so far, and your karamat videos. I did the summer course in 2017, so watching these brings back so many great memories.
So great to hear your comments Mr. Timthetoyman. My apologies for taking so long to complete the series. I pretty much move when inspired to do so. You know....... Work on a project when the motivation is behind it. Take care
Hi Dale : Glad you took the time to explain the reasons behind each part of the process A job really well done. Stay Safe & thanks Brian 80
Thanks Brian. Today I finally uploaded the second part of this video series. It sure takes time to get to all the video editing on my list. As always, it's great to hear from you. Take care
Great video Dale. I enjoyed this one a lot. Good advice as always👍
Thanks Scott. Great to hear from you. Hope all is well and you are squeezing out adventures when possible. Take care
Great video and series Dale. Looking forward to it. Your messaging is spot on as well. All the best. Rory
Thx Rory. All the best to you as well.
You’ve even got the speech mannerisms of Mors Kochanski
It's always blown my mind that people complain about someone removing a few branches or a few small trees to build a shelter such as this. Meanwhile your local logging company levels 50 acres of forest per day and no keyboard warriors in site...
Nice !! Looking forward to the next part .. gubs
More to come!
I’d say as long as the man made materials are not left out to litter the landscape your small shelter will provide homes and shelter to a variety of wildlife.
Salamanders will use these , rodents will store food in these , insects will overwinter in these , raccoons frequent them as an outhouse lol and mushrooms will grow outta the stacked logs in the right conditions .
Thanks for your comments. Agreed. Bring home the garbage, and nature will take care of the rest.
However, in many cases, its not appropriate to leave shelters behind for others to encounter. So in this instance, we return everything back to better than we found it. Take care
I don't like the way you leave those sapling " stumps " like that. My big husky dog was injured by that type of cutting while we where prospecting. Stabby in his foot.
