I have several chiming clocks, including a lovely grandfather with the Westminister chimes...I was going to comment that you would not likely notice the ringing after a bit. We tend to habituate to certain sounds in our house. I used to jump every time the ice maker in the freezer dropped a load of ice and refilled the moulds! After awhile, I never noticed it. Dittos the sprinkler system (I had one of those when I lived in Florida)! It would come on at 5:00am -- that one took a little while to get used to!

Us older generation remember having a special shopping bag or basket for the veggies, potatoes went I’d first then the greens and root veg, the only items in paper bags was mushrooms and tomatoes.
I was from a large family and only one old style dustbin was used each week, no black bags. We were far more environment friendly than today.

Just thought I should mention that a friend of mine once tried repairing a grandmother clock and it terrified him because he didn't

Your new clock is beautiful. One of my fondest memories from my grandmother, she always had a clock in her bedroom that had been in her family for a long time. All night, the soft sound of ticking would put me to sleep. She passed away in 1983, I miss her very much.

Ive had Sarah Raven plants for the first time this year. They were beautifully packaged and even though I thought they were more expensive, they were better, bigger plants with much better roots than I've had from other suppliers. I think you were just unlucky Sean.

That’s a shame about the Sarah Raven plants, get in touch with them, they’ll send you out new ones. No small company deliberately try’s to send out damaged goods. I know you bought from Crocus last time and your rose was nicely packaged, also try Rosys Cottage garden plants , really nice plants and so well packaged, she has a UA-cam channel too, Rosy Hardy Gardening.

I live in Georgia in the US near the Appalachian mountains, and our wilderness looks identical to your wilderness. We were once all one piece of land stuck together in the Triassic. A lot of Scots settled in the Appalachians as it reminded them of their homeland. I made the butter soup you were talking about, it sounded so good, and simple. But I added green beans, celery and carrots. Haute cuisine for the poor man! Hey, it was superb!

White Flower Farm is a mainly mail order garden center in Connecticut, in the States. They are reliable, have only quality plants, and always ship in a timely way. There are many others.

What a lovely clock at such a bargain price! Well done 👍
I always use Google picture search, if you've never used it you just take a photo of whatever you want to know about, click on the Google icon, then click the little camera icon at the side of the search box, that will take you to your photos, click on the photo you want to search and details will come up.
This will be handy for the plants without the label. You could also take one of your new clock and see the prices 🙂
    Take care 🙂

I think the sleep apneoa is more likely to be to do with too many carbohydrates especially before bed.
My husband said make sure you fix the clock to the wall with a bracket as they are top heavy.

  • @chrisrey572
    @chrisrey572 4 місяці тому +1

Beautiful clock Sean. I would move the smaller clocknto another room and set a jar up for spare change. When you hit 100.00 go get her fixed.
Sleep apnea is a scary thing especially living by yourself and no one is there to punch you in the ribs to get you breathing again. I have found with my hubby that if he doesn't eat anything at least 4 hoirs before laying down and only a sip of water for his meds an hour before bed he doesn't have as bad of a time. He's had his machine now for 7 years and at least it does help when he has an episode. Also if you have sleep apnea weight control is extremely hard because you dont get restful sleep. The machine helps once you get used to it. Your garden is going to be very pretty with all the flowers.

As you mentioned before, and because my sons have had allotments and have had sheds put up, it seems better to put a shed at the start of the plot rather than the end. You can put your tools away and lock the shed at the end of the day, rather than walking up to the shed and back down, plus it’s more neighbourly as people pass by to chat, if you are not in the mood for chatting shut the door or have one of those rainbow plastic streamer strips curtain for privacy!

Hi Sean, lovely clock! I used to volunteer in our local repair shop alongside a guy who was a clock repair expert, and I remember him saying it was very important to make sure your clock is completely level (get your spirit level out of the cwtch!) and stable, to ensure that it works perfectly. I noticed when you were winding it that it was rocking about a bit, so might need a few wedges under the feet to make it absolutely solid. Good luck!

It will be passed on to our oldest son and then to his grandson. It's huge. and so precious. It's too bad about your damaged plants but I'm betting they'll be fine and come on like a house on fire. The trees are finally budding here in Alberta, Canada and I can hardly wait to plant things but not till the 24th of May. We are a zone 2 - 3. Best wishes as always. Fondly, Dorothy.

It may be the chemical added to non organic baking powder. I find the various ingredients added to items for shelf life or other various reasons have an effect on me personally. I have found using Bob's Red Mill baking powder or baking soda help me. Not sure if you have that where you are. It is a company here in the states that does organic products without added chemicals.

My first order with her of dahlias, was very good. My second order I had trouble getting the order delivered, they sent one item, others came in drubs and drabs, took a few weeks before they told me they can no longer supply. Was not impressed with the service. This year I have ordered via Farmer Gracy, very prompt delivery and excellent packing.

Love your grandfather clock. Reminds me of my Nan and grandads clock they had in South Wales. We were never allowed to open the door were the pendulum was. My grandad said a rat lived in there and didnt like being woke up. So we never touched the door.😊 Lovely birthday present to yourself.

Everything about this video was so very fun! Planting, shopping, cooking and the clock! I enjoyed your comment at end with regard to readying the allotment first with the shed to follow. Sounds the proper order to me. Whilst things are beginning to grow, you can then have the time to put the shed up at your leisure.

i received a plant arrangement a birthday gift, it arrived with the plants and soil all over the box, this is the package not being treated with care and you need to make the seller aware. they could choose different packaging which is more resistant to water

Hi Sean, another fabulous vlog. Plants to garden do lovely plants and well packaged in greenhouses. The plants you didnt have a label for looked a bit like Nicotiana? What a fantastic find with the grandfather clock, like music to the ears 😊

Another great video Sean love the clock so reminds me of one my grandparents had and like you said lovely workmanship. I’d definitely just drop the plant people an email stating the way the plants arrived, but looking at them a bit if tlc and they will survive. I’m always buying half price plants from my local DIY store .
Do you have a local scouts group maybe they might like to come and help clear your plot for the shed and you give a donation to the group for future events or give them a gardening lesson or two…they earn a badge and who knows a future well know gardener could be born.
I’m now into the freezer to find my Welsh cawl that I made and saved for another day it always smells so good.

I love your clock, and I’m sure that it will provide you with many years of companionship. I’m currently having mine overhauled - it stopped working just six weeks before my dear husband died. Not bad for nearly three hundred years. (Clock, not husband!)

I must've missed this episode and thought your new clock had been in your family for years, it's beautiful! The price you paid was amazing! Is there a reason it's so close to the door? I'd be in Too Good to Waste every day lol.
