What is the difference between random rotation and expanded trail?

On the Expanded trial you have target then 1 distractor then target then 2 distractor then target then 3 distractor. The target was Daniel and the distractor was the other 2 pictures. The distractor can be anything as long as it is mastered by the learner for exemple the tutor asking the learner to touch his nose. So we had: Touch Daniel (target), then touch e.g patrick (distractor), then touch Daniel (target), then touch Patrick then touch Joe (2 distractor Patrick and Joe), then touch Daniel (target) then touch Patrick, then Joe, then patrick (3 distractor). The random is not as structured as the Expanded trial. The target can appear anytime. It's random.

The rules are different. For instance in Expanded Trials (ET) trials are in a sequence order :
      1. Target stimulus (TS)
      2. Distractor (D)
      3. Target stimulus (TS)
      4.Distractor (D)
      5. Distractor (D)
      6. Target stimulus (TS)
      7. Distractor (D)
      8.Distractor (D)
      9.Distractor (D)
      10. Target stimulus (TS)
Notice that your distractors increase from 1, 2, 3.
In Random rotation phase, your trials are mixed and varied the only rule is that you must target your TS at least 4-5 times. Key is not to have any pattern.
