Pooter Stomper - Great job. Be proud of yourself for learning & finishing the class & EARNING the patch. And like I said, BE CONFIDENT and go to the intermediate class and CRUSH IT!
Congratulations again brother on patching! It is a great accomplishment indeed. I am glad you had a good experience there and are coming back for round two. Thanks for the shoutout as well! I hope to see you there for this next one if at all possible. Take care and stay safe.
I took the basic class in 2021 and was fortunate enough to have pooter as my instructor so for all you guys watching this video thinking about signing up do it pooter is an awesome instructor and when I sign up for the intermediate I sincerely hope I get him again as an instructor
i know someone who went to the school and had a wonderful time. so glad you liked it and are going to next one. ive read dave canterbury is a great instructor. i think he is an instructor. but anyway glad you loved. looking forward to more videos.
Pooter!!!!!! I found you bro. I used to watch your videos back when you only had a handful of subscribers! I am so glad I found your channel again I am subscribing as we speak
Pooter Stomper I am so glad your channel is making it! I loved it since the start. I accidentally spelled your name wrong years ago and I couldn’t find you. I’m glad to be back, you inspired me to start my own channel It’s different than yours but I am still small and just having fun getting started.Man your kids are getting big. Best of luck to you and I hope the family stays healthy
Congratulations on passing the course. We knew you could do it! It sounds so interesting. I can't wait for your next video and see how you made your pack. Take care and stay safe. 😊
I might watch a UA-cam video once a month, maybe. I was looking for info on the intermediate class and stumbled upon your video and had to watch it. My brother, I am humbled and honored. Thank you for the compliments! I'm blown away, again. All I do is try to teach and inspire and now you are returning the favor. You are a humble man and have my ultimate respect. 💪👊
Hay Pooter, just found your channel great job I bet the talks around the fire where Outstanding I wish I could have been there keep up the good work Rick From Massachusetts
Nice video showing your appreciation for the instructors, glad you had an enjoyable time, may you, your family and loved ones remain safe during these uncertain times, till next time :)
You can be the best. Especially when we know how "small" we are. You're very humble even so you know so much already. It's refreshing and I look at your vids a lot. Btw...you look less like someone during the civil war...;-)
Thank you for sharing! Sounded like you had a great time there! It was very intersting to hear about starting the fire and all the things you learened there. That would deffenetly been something for me too!! It seems to me that bushcrafting is for men only! And here I am sitting at my cabin in front of fireplace , listening the cracking of ice in -10 C weather , and Pooter I must tell you it ain' t easy to be alone in the forest for a long time. You must know how to take care of everything, there is no- one to help if you get into trouble. So far doing fine and loving this! Anyway looking forward to seeing more of your videos and learning more from you! Love the way you present things! All the best from freezing cold Finland!
Hey pooter... glad to see your back and made it through the class... I knew ya would... a lot of hiking and a lot of picking up sticks like I said... but it is all for a purpose... glad you enjoyed yourself... keep up the great work 👍💪👊
I completed the Basic course after you did, and this is spot on. Looking back on it, things that seemed challenging at the time now make a lot of sense. I also felt the same way about Kevin and bacon. BTW, congrats on the Advanced patch.
That’s a pretty accurate introduction... I had a blast. The instructors are top notch and you can tell they love doing what they do. I’m glad I got to go through it with ya brother!
It’s kinda like that but if you want to be a certified instructor you have to patch in every class. Certificate means finished the class. Patch means you did very well in the class
Congratulations on passing the class. Thanks for the info, attending a class is definitely on the list. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you!
Great video brother! Congratulations again on patching! Dave and his instructors got me to where I am today hope to run a class with you one day in the future. Subbed to your channel as well man good stuff! 👍
Thank you brother! Hopefully that will happen one day. Just gotta keep putting in the dirt time.. just subbed to you as well. Get them videos out so I can learn a thing or two!
Alright !!!! Glad to hear you Patched ! .. sticker bushes everywhere ,, .. that’s some good to know info for anyone attending !, had just finished watching corporals corner solo video and seen yours pop up .. I’ve been busy building a chicken coop.. I hate chicken wire !, that stuff looks harmless in the rolled up package ,, that stuff is like a briar patch when you start trying to cut and nail it.. stay safe ..
Hi Pooter. Sounds like you had a great time. I always seem to ask questions! But what is a sticker tree? Hope you're well and likewise with your family. Regards Luke uk.
A sticker tree is a tree that will stick you with sharp thorns or barbs, I've grown up in Oklahoma and I've always heard the term sticker tree or sticker bush... instead of thorn trees or thorn bush's
I'd ask Cpl Kelly 'are you going to have bacon and rib eye for supper tonight?' He loves cooking bacon and other goodies together. Glad you passed and had a good though strenuous time - can't learn much if it's easy.
Great job, have been contemplating on whether or not to do this course. But listening to your experience made me more assure of my decision. Hopefully when COVID-19 mess is over with, I'll be able to travel and get my patch. From Trinidad with best wishes..
Great, will look forward to seeing your videos. Presently our country is on a lockdown due to the present situation around the world. They're taking all necessary precautions to not spread the virus. So I'm hoping that someone finds a cure soon so I can join your ranks as a survivalist and bushcrafter. Where I'm from it's a tropical island, so the need for this type of training and experience would be helpful. Would look forward to what you have to bring to the table base on your training and experience. Keep safe.. And keep expanding on your training and knowledge on the outdoors.
You mentioned you didn’t bring a tent for the first night bc you weren’t sure if you’d be able to return it to your car? Would you have had an opportunity to return it to your car, now that you’ve been? Would you still just recommend a tarp set up for the first night? Thanks!
Pooter Stomper Thanks for the insight I appreciate it. I’m going to the upcoming June class and thought a tent and sleeping of might be ideal if it was practical.
I’m planning to take the basic class in March. I am new to bushcraft & am concerned about being paired up with someone & hindering their performance. Any pointers on how to be a good partner? Also, any recommendations on pack size? I see a lot of videos where people are taking 50L packs. I was planning to take my 27L Mystery Ranch 3 day pack.
A good partner will be patient and do everything they can to help you succeed! Just do your best..I would bring as light of load as you can. Only bring what’s on the equipment list and you will be fine! Hope to see you there
So I keep hearing everyone tent camps the first night, but do you have to break camp and carry that tent with you the next day(s)? I’m taking the class this year, any info helps. Thanks.
The first night you can sleep in a tent or hammock. You will break camp but will be able to take it back to your vehicle.. the second night you will be sleeping on the ground
Hey brother, very new to your channel. I'm hoping you can try something for me. I'm not able to get out and try it myself for a bit. Can you try to ignite charcloth from a friction fire? I know the point is to make a dust that heats up and turns to an ember but was thinking if it's hot enough to do that, it should be hot enough to ignite char and that would really increase chances of success if friction fire was what you were left with plus it would definitely be in the lines of "next fire mentality". Looked to see if anyone on youtube has ever tried it and haven't found anyone yet. Thanks bro! God bless!
That’s a good question. I think the reason nobody has tried it is because it’s so easy to create a spark to ignite it that it would be wasting time to use it in any other way. Plus it’s so brittle that if you put any kind of stress on the charcloth it would probably break apart and disappear into nothing.
@@TonyPowers_Dirtbound I get that. I often think about the scenario of being caught in a bad situation and you've lost your means of making fire so left with friction fir as the only way. But if you can make one, then you could make some char and whether or not that could be used somehow to assist in making another fire. I've seen times where friction couldn't work because of wetness or humidity, they could get smoke but not an ember; just wondering if in that situation, char "material" could be the saving element. Just curious. Thanks so much for responding brother! You are a rockstar! :)
Most students go from the basic straight to the intermediate but it wouldn’t hurt to take a NAV intensive class or bushcraft 101 class beforehand. But not required of course
