The founder and leader of the chieftains and the man that popularised irish trad around the world and ireland itself sadly passed away a few days ago paddy moloney an absolute legend and will be very saddly missed

My first festival was in Elizabeth, Colorado. Estes Park, Colorado has a great Celtic Fest too!!
My wife and I will be attending the Grandfather Mountain games this July as well as doing some sightseeing along the Blue Ridge parkway.
When I first came across this channel a couple of years ago I thought I would watch out of curiosity because I thought, " Damn Yanks are bound to go over the top," and I thought it would be amusing. However I was pleasantly surprised how you presented the topic, with a true passion but in a light hearted, easy going way. This festival looked amazing and I was wishing that I could have been there. Thank god there were no See You Jimmy hats!

I went to one at fort. Loudoun, PA. Its the area we camp every year but in doing research its where my scott-irish family lived. Then add to it that the Appalachian mountains are part of the same mountain chain in the highlands it makes sense that's where people settled when they got here

My first fully Celtic Festival was the Stirling Classic in Yukon Oklahoma.
Hopefully I get to go to Grandfather Mountain next summer. I'd like to do Celtic Classic. Scotfest in Tulsa is also great.
I’m so sad that I didnt get to go and compete in this bagpipe contest this year. My band usually goes down every year to play but this year we didn’t have the numbers. Hopefully next year I will be there and meet you guys!

THIS captures the essence of why we care about our culture and what makes a Celtic/Scottish cultural fair so important. Your interview with the lady from House of Douglas Bakery (26:02) hit me (because I'm a dad and a softy) as she spoke about the child she sold the cookie to... you never can tell just how your willingness to connect will help others. Thank you for taking the time to capture the interviews, the people, the atmosphere. This video told a beautiful story.
The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is my favourite place to go. I grew up attending as a volunteer every year for over 20 years.

Being a "bit partial" the NH Highland games are still my favorite. Went this year and the following weekend was one of my sons wedding where he declared me "The Best Dressed Man". Old (me) and Zack and his wonderful wife Shannon (new). The Kilt gave me the edge amongst some very handsome men. 🤣
On the topic of old and modern have you ever heard Red Hot Chilli PIPERS? I'm sure that Erik has. They are an amazing band that will get your blood rushing.

My family goes to the Niagara Celtic Festival in Lockport NY (near Buffalo NY). I love this festival more than I can express in words. For all the same reasons you and your interviewees expressed. It's just magic. We get many traditional kilts but also a lot of Ren Fair type costumes. Whatever you're into is fine and accepted. My girls went for the first time and came home with kilts in the family colors! A proud day for me. It was very inclusive as well, which made it feel even more special. Like the lady said it's about family!
We loved Green Lane! We probably saw you there. We were sad when they stopped having that one. Nevertheless Celtic Classic has always been our first and no. 1.
I have a beautiful Camelback that I carry. It’s also a backpack. I usually use them on my hiking adventures. And to me they’re perfect for anything.

I think Loch Norman is better, Grandfather's only plus is the setting, other than that it's become stale over the years.
Reflection: The Pleasanton Festival averages 45,000 people a day. This year, due to Covid, attendance was limited to 4,500. I hate to say it, but the experience was more pleasant when you could walk freely without being mobbed everywhere.

Yes, agree fully! Wearing Ghillie Brogues all day is awful! I rake a pair of comfy black slip-ons and change after competition is finished. As for food we take some food to share at the Clan Stewart tent, but I always buy something from merchants.
Payson UT and SLC UT festivals are both really good. The Moab UT festival recently faded into nothingness. It’s so sad.
My first celtic fair happens to be the Celtic Fling. My biggest disappointment was the Celtic weekend in Tuxedo, NY. Very few people in kilts
I think it would also be good to carry extra anti-chafe. As well, instead of a pocket knife and can opener a multi tool is my go to at events. Less hassle at “No Knife” events.
Sadly we have lost at least 2 Northern California games, Campbell and Felton.

I want to find a Celtic festival in northern Georgia but have no idea where to look. I don't know what would be practical for me to attend.
I helped put on a Highland games event at my church last weekend…does that count as a Celtic festival??? I’ve never been to one but I really would like too.

I only have the Loon Mountain Highland Games near me in New Hampshire. I actually have two years of it in videos on my channel. I loved going to the Highland Games.
I also feel it's strange so many people act like the line ends with them... Part of keeping the clan heritage alive is inviting new people into the clan who are passionate and active who will help keep the traditions and stories of the clan alive and pass it down to the current and next generations. It's not all DNA tests and bloodlines.

Usually over 100,000 thru the weekend. It's pretty huge!
@@USAKiltsOfficial wow, we just had the annual event in Australia, Perth. Around 20,000 and it was manic busy. I can’t wrap my head around 100,000 !
