First, modern humans carry neanderthal DNA, our subspecies interbred, second modern nutrition embues you with a potential frame that a neanderthal couldn't dream of. A typical modern human isn't shit physically compared to a neanderthal, but the strongest modern human is basically at the peak of what we know of human capacity, whatever the subspecies.
That reminds me of the season of survivor, i think it was all brits. Average men and women taken out to two islands and a boys v gurls style. Sequel with a bit of Grug's perspective please? By the way, Neanderthals were about 2 inches shorter on average than modern Homo Sapiens. They were stockier though, and it is noted how tough they had to have been due to the fact that each specimen skeleton has so many healed fractures that the only thing they could compare to in modern terms was modern bull riders. They lived rough, took their lumps, kept on trucking.
i love some good skull bashing but the neanderthals were shorter, but smarter. this was a backwards representation of them. humans were a good head taller, and had more endurance, while the heavier neanderthal was faster in bursts and physically stronger and able to take more damage.
Keep in mind my story is set in the fictional Cryoverse. It is not representative of reality, as that universe is literally about false myths and histories rewritten by demons. Like, literal demons.
Don't forget that if a primitive human is alone it usually means he's hunting for his tribe, so if both of them don't die quickly by the human just out classing them in everything, they'll be chased for hours on end before finally being speared to death or have their heads bashed in with a sharp arrow or large rock :)

Yes, that's my understanding, too. Neanderthal evolved in colder European crimes with more snow, etc, hence the shorter broader stature just like the native people that live in cold climates. Mordern humans, on the other hand, evolved in the much hotter plains of African, as now they people there are tall and thinner on average.

Only five hundred million modern humans? That’s extraordinarily small population numbers for a species well known for an incredibly high repopulation rate due to millennia of war and virtually no real lasting peace time. I would’ve expected the population to be somewhere in the range of two hundred to three hundred billion.
The crocodile commander did mention that humans had only recently re-emerged. Perhaps there were only several hundred thousand left scattered among colonies or in stasis pods and even now there's only a half a billion. Or, that's all that they know about.

I would’ve expected the population to be somewhere in the range of two hundred to three hundred billion.
The crocodile commander did mention that humans had only recently re-emerged. Perhaps there were only several hundred thousand left scattered among colonies or in stasis pods and even now there's only a half a billion. Or, that's all that they know about.
