Dang nice job on a real nice colt.
Nice approach with Silas, "firm but fair." Reminds me of watching Ray Hunt back in the mid 80s, back when he was bringing his/Dorrance's approach to more eyes. I always appreciated not just the technique, but the emotional composure that is needed for it to work. I always preferred to work cattle and ride horses with folks that had that type of approach. I sure saw different approaches (with uneven results ) as a non pro who showed reiners and helped out rancher friends over the years. Has it really been close to 40 years? Yipes. I appreciate your work with Silas, making a well-bred capable horse for ranch or show. Hat off to you man, keep up the good work that makes this world a better place.
Silas is gorgeous! Did he ever rear with you on him or was that just his refusal/frustration outlet on the ground? Rearing wouldn’t bother me once in awhile as long as it wasn’t while I was on him. Seems like a great horse, nice job!
Silas always kept all 4 feet on the ground once I started riding him. He never gave me any idea that he would do something dangerous. Thanks for watching! Richard

Why post in a western saddle I’ve broke and rode a lot and have never posted unless in English
Because anything faster than a slow trot can be hard to sit, and it's easier on the horse and rider to post.
Lots of people post in western. I got a new job working with cutting horses and I've never posted before. They taught me and gave me time to learn the post. Now that's all I do. It's smoother and doesn't freak the horse out
