You might want to try a different route home. 20 East out of Dallas through Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama into Atlanta Georgia. I 85 N toward Greenville crossing into South Carolina I 85 North toward Spartanburg into North Carolina then I 95 Toward Richmond Virginia keep right toward DC (Cest Pool Stadium). I was thinking the same route. Bc if he came out of Tennessee the best route would be 40 East all he way thru. Then catch 85 in Durham or go to Raleigh and catch 95 all the way up thru DC. But the route you mentioned is the smarter way coming from that side of Texas..it runs into my route right at Greensboro NC is where 40/85 merge.
