Yes with a little bit more planning you could try asking and sending your stuff from a convenience store such as a 711 or even trying at the lobby of a hotel even if you are not staying there. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

@@matthewchristian1591 My understanding is that its a seat reservation regardless of it being standard or green. If your luggage is larger than the stated 160cm then you'll have to reserve a seat. I'm not too sure if there is a limit to the luggage and perhaps you'll need no pay for the extra one. Remember that the JR pass includes free seat reservations so take advantage of that if you are using the Pass!

I have 2 luggage’s that I can manage to push and I do believe they would fit if I am able to sit at the very back of a Shinkansen with the extra space behind those seats. That space at the very end of the Shinkansen with the extra space doesn’t have to be reserved, correct? Thank you so much for this video. I’m hoping to save money by taking the Shinkansen.
I’m not 100% sure anymore! I believe that that space at the very end of the Shinkansen is actually the area that you reserve now and that it’s over head luggage you don’t need to reserve but that needs to be a certain size. With covid things might have changed.

Perhaps .. I don’t think it was Olympics related I think it was related to how many tourists keep on going to the country and how it increased each year.
I´m going to Japan in the winter. They have luggage shipping services that can forward to your next destination and lodging. Since I´m practical, I´ll forward the big mamajama from Sapporo to my next spot in Tokyo. Then from Tokyo. I plan to take the Hotel Bus from Tokyo to Osaka, so I think I can put in the hold there.

You only need to make sure you have a seat with luggage and yea it should be possible

If you don't have oversized luggage, but you have two small suitcases, can you put them both overhead without a reservation?

28 inch large suitcase (29.5 x 19 x 12 inches) = 152 cm so we should be good I hope!
