To be fair, the _reason_ Shorts sucks is *because* it works just like TikTok, so people who _like_ TikTok should be perfectly happy with it.

As someone who’s never used TikTok, I think YT shorts is great. The only problem is a lot of the content sucks. But some of its good, and as a platform it’s much better than TikTok because it allows you to discover more channels in a more engaging way than just scrolling recommend, which usually just repeats stuff over and over. Shorts is almost always something you haven’t seen before, and often they lead to you discovering longer videos you may have never seen.
@@closeben the biggest problem is it has cannibalized the entire site and has become one of the biggest ways to gain any traction, not everyone wants to make shorts but has to if they want to get anywhere

I feel bad about how happy I am that tik tok is getting banned. I know that a lot of people are gonna miss it, and that's a bummer... but at the same time, I'm excited by the thought of it being illegal for people to recommend the app to me in every conversation.
Yeah but like, thousands of ppl use TikTok to make a living. Even if you personally don't enjoy using it, you still have to admit that banning it will hurt a lot of people. And we all know there's a plethora of reasons why our government would benefit from being able to ban specific media platforms, and they 100% are going after TikTok because it has a high concentration of queer ppl, people of color, Pro-Palestine sentiment, etc. If they actually cared about "security" and "data privacy" they would've gone after Google and Microsoft years ago.

The amount of conspiracies you see on there about everything is wild, and in a short form format conspiracies are the most convincing.
