I had the very same two issues with the same exact antenna at about the same time. In my case, I was at a repeater site installing the antenna (for an auxiliary radio) and had to Macgyver the damned connection with the stripped screw. No bueno. I've used Diamond products lots in the past and their quality has gone to heck in recent years. Great job sealing off the joints, wish I had thought of that. Best, WB6JWB

Yep I had the same problems with the x50 ..poorly made antennas and they used to be good
My home made roll up twin lead j pole is showing better results
