Hi, I just finish the tutorial but I have an error when an additional user login into the app, the user can't see the image with the rankAvatarDisplay I copied an pasted all the code and it works with the default user created, but when I create new one the images is not showing and if I inspect the code it isn't showing the profile picture but other are fine like the progress bar and the rank. Also the filter is added in the profile to Email is signed in user. Any Suggestion..... Thank You
Hey Robert, thank you for this update. I've completed all your last gamification tutos. And now I will set up a new gam-app with this new series. You are definitely my Glide Guru! Thank you from France
Incredible tips! I still don't quite understand how the URL Generator works ... but with this video you can see that it is possible to do LOTS of cool things with it.
You know what could be great Robert?, is to have the English subtext for the deaf and hearing-impaired and also in french because you got great content here and I would like to share your videos to my students learning Glide. Also, it could earn you more subscribers. Something you might consider. I am working with disabled people that might be interested in learning no code 😇
Hey Robert. This whole thing is amazing! I have been working with a sheet for the last few months, but it has been terrible for the student experience. This is going to be epic! Thank you! Okay, so big question. I see you are doing ranks. I am doing levels (same idea basically). Students level 1-20 like an RPG according to XP. Here is the trouble. My stats increase per character class as they level. Warrior goes from a 2 strength to a 3 strength, etc. I followed your setup with the class stats on the Classes Sheet, but I don’t see an easy way to make this work. I know I want it to look at the class, look at the level, and then update the strength, agility, intelligence, and health stats. Thoughts?
Hey Jonathan! Thanks for the kind words. …that’s what I was going to ask- if different classes level up differently. This is possible, but it’s a bit trickier. I might have a more intermediate-level solution that uses a JSON data structure. Let me test and I’ll get back to you.
Hey, Rob! Thanks for your tutorials, they are awesome. I've made progress Bar thing for sever times alredy & everything worked fine but recently in my new project I had an issue. Avatar display Looks fine but for some reason it reloads every 30-50 seconds and I don't know why. Have you ever had such an issue, any help will be much appreciated.
@@RobertPetittoWA thanks for quick response. Nah, I don’t think that glide added smth. Got same Progress execution in another app. works fine, never reloads.
@@RobertPetittoWA I think I know why AvatarDisplay is refreshing all the time. User progress is time (weeks of training to be exact) so i think that glide while counting progress ("start day" minus "today") refreshes data all the time cuz time is ticking. Could it be so and can i somehow fix it? P.S. your last video "Tips & tricks" is awesome Im already using all of your advices.
Hey Robert, amazing tutorials as usual, however, I encountered a small bug. I replicated your profile system and after the initial onboarding the display picture is an error that says parameters not found. I found if close the app and completely exit it then restart it works like a charm. But as you can imagine, that is a bad user experience? Do you have a fix for this? or a way to force the app to reload? I will be posting this in the glide community with a screenshot.
Interesting. It might be that quickchart isn’t recognizing the Cloudinary image as a valid url until the Cloudinary image has been generated. I’d need to investigate.
Hi Robert. i,ve done this tutorial twice, but the second one, most of the picture cannot be generated.. it says : Error : Type Error : Cannot read properties of null (reading 'url'). How to fix this? waiting for ur help. thnks
Hey Robert - thanks for the great tutorial. I've been having mixed results getting the avatar image to display via the json code and cloudinary. What is happening is that the avatar image only displays if it is a png and less than 500px in width and was uploaded via the app itself. ie the exact same image saved as a jpg and less than 500px won't display in the progress circle, if its a dropbox link to the image it doesn't seem to display either. But if it's a png uploaded by the user and less than 500px it works perfectly. I'm pretty sure that when our users upload their avatar images it will be a mishmash of jpgs, pngs of all shapes and sizes. Is there any way to tweak the cloudinary code (I don't understand it, just literally copied and pasted), or alternatively restrict users to pngs less than 500px in width when they upload their profile pics? Any and all images display fine in other areas of the app, it's just for the place I'm using the overlays. Hope that makes sense, and appreciate your thoughts.
Hey Samantha! Let me research this a bit and I’ll get back to you. Did you watch my #2.1 video yet? I did make a revamp to this episode specifically targeting the ranking that affects the image.
@@RobertPetittoWA Yep I did that and that all worked fine. I've done some more testing and while I thought I was close to having it figured out in the comment above, whether the image works or not actually seems to be a bit random. I've made a video, will post it in the app for you to have a look at if you don't mind?

this was some 'big brain' stuff, awesome Robert!
Progressbar is crazy! Cool idea

Yeah, I’ll need to create a separate video just for that. For now, just copy and paste ;-)
My students are going to flip when they see these updates! Thanks for another great video!!!
IVE DONE IT, Thank you i have done all that I have wanted

Good point. I’ll see if I can’t make that happen moving forward.

to be clear, rangers, mages, etc all have different stats that grow in different areas as they level.

Started rambling towards the end, sorry-but here's one way to approach it!

Hm. Not certain about that. Perhaps Glide introduced some new type of refresh mechanic in the app? I haven't seen this issue occur.

Hi. Thank you for the videos. I wonder if i missed it but is it possible for users to add their own points themselves?

How can we use cloudinary to make the ranks that are not available for the momento in a Black&White image? Is there any parameter for that?
