Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

That radar you drove past is actually pretty neat! It's the old Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex. It was the only part of Safeguard ever built, and it was an early anti ballistic missile system. Place even has an underground, armored power plant.

I want to tell everyone to be extra careful around moldy corn. I did this same thing earlier this year and got a terrible case of Esinophilic Pneumonia. Antibiotics won’t touch it and took a CT scan and a trip to the pulmonologist to get it figured out. Wished I would have made the long trip back down to get a mask.

THANK YOU, I've over come a serrious addiction myself and come January ill be 4 years clean and sober of that.
After working this spring at the Co-op in Alvinston Ontario Canada has given me even more hope that Im doing something positive for the world and not dwelling and killing myself in the meantime.
Farming is its own therapy in a way, the stresses and anxiety is actually focused on an positive outcome.
My goal is to take reins of our 100 acres in the next year or two so my step father can relax and enjoy himself. (But still pull wagons, reverse situations from 15 years ago.)

    Wow. Lots on this video.
You new spray trailer is super nice. Has a lot of great features. Like that it cleans the containers as it uses them. Lots of hi tech accessories on this trailer.
On your ride home you mentioned seeing a missle silo. That is in fact part of our border radar system. Not a silo system but above ground radar. Watched the border for us. Am prior Air Force and have visited there before Zach. Neat system. Technology has passed it by now this day and age. Pretty old system.
Love your new Deere sprayer. Really a super unit with all the accessories you and dad put on it. Really high tech unit. You are setting great with the new sprayer and trailer. Very nice Zach and Dad. Wow. Super system.
Thanks for showing us what you did. Once you have time give us a rundown on the new trailer and sprayer. Would appreciate that.

Sounds like that sprayer is basically a really big repurposed electronic fuel injection system. Now, you said that the nozzles had lighting. If each nozzle had a light, and the lights could be strobed in sync with the nozzle pulses, it would freeze frame the spray pattern. That would be really cool at night.

I was up in the Bakken in 2014/15. It wasn’t uncommon to see military guys working around those silos. Multiple Humvees with guns on the turrets and a helicopter escort going down the highway above them. When they were at the silos the Humvees would be backed in pointed outwards with men on the guns ready to light somebody up. I was told they were swapping out nukes for maintenance purposes. No idea if that was true and we never dared to pull in and ask lol! Quite the sight tho!

Be careful in those bins. I had an uncle who got sucked into a grain bin in Saskatchewan. His adult son saw what happened and he ran the front end loader into the corner of the granary and tore it open. The uncle's life was saved. The cousin turned out to be a hero who saved a life. Take care. Granaries can be dangerous. We have an acquaintance who saw his two young daughters get sucked into canola as it was being unloaded. They were suffocated and the father was right there. No one needs that kind of grief!

Zach, about Grain Bin safety, I used to be in the pressure cementing business for the oil industry and one thing we would use in our silos were rubber pads mounted on the inside walls that vibrate with air pressure to keep the cement from bridging off. I wonder if something like that would work in your bin silos to keep the grain from bridging off?

Been an avid fan of your videos for over a year now and have gone back and watched almost all from the beginning. It's fascinating how technology has been integrated into farming.
A couple questions I have I don't recall if you mentioned in previous videos.....How many acres do you farm both owned or leased? How many bushels of corn and beans did you yield last year?

wow. after all the fun with the planter last season i cant actually believe you decided to go with pwm on the sprayer......good luck i guess.. i cant believe boom recirc is an option. been standard for years on uk sprayers

  • @bambanarni
    @bambanarni Рік тому +1

Always though the main point of recirc booms is that the chem is already out to the end of the boom when you want to start spraying.
So you never have to do the thing that none of us ever did with a dead end system of backing the boom into the hedge and turning the spray on and waiting for the chem to reach the boom ends….
