Oh my God...... *gasp*......Mike playing Dock's Mastertone......*swoon*......and ultra-rare film footage of Dock!!! PLEASE tell us where this came from!! Thanks for a lovely birthday present!!!
I must I prefer Dock Boggs 3 finger picking not Earl Scruggs, I love like that Dock played in 3 finger style which is an Up Picking Style. Plus I like the more mellow sound of finger picking.
Dock Boggs your 3 finger in my opinion is better than Earl Scruggs 3 finger, Earl Scruggs style is way to fast and jazzy. I prefer Dock Boggs not Earl Scruggs
Nobody ever will be able to replicate the Boggs style quite as good as this or Chris Berry, ever.

It's very similar, but Last Chance seems to be more in the Dorian mode (with a flattened 3rd), whereas Davenport has a major 3rd.
This is not being played in Dock's style. But it is Dock's version of Davenport played on his banjo.
Love Docks playing, another player is David Eugene Edwards who seems to pick upwards too..
"Part of it is that I remember Dock playing it too, you know..."
wow very doc boggs learning stuff thanks man weow!
@edisonphonographfan The tuning here that Mike and Dock used was fCFCD.
Very cool , i wonder where Docks banjo is now ?
It's currently up for sale by Mike Seeger's widow. Not sure how much or where you can find a price, but thats who has it.

I agree. I can appreciate Scruggs style but I don't overly enjoy it.
Sometimes less is more. Much more, in this case.
