It would be good to see how this Beaver would fly on 4s maybe a 4s motor is needed.
It looks like a great plane to try a 4s

For your rescue boat - I strongly recommend the Horizon Hobby tugboat. Will not find a better recovery boat than that - comes with a special part to recover stranded RCs. Would not mind seeing a review of that sucker on this channel! Love your content, keep up the great work.

I'm thinking that the rubber bands are letting the rudders to move. I would think that a solid linkage would work right. Test it out. Happy turkey day. Beautiful trees.

I have two of these (the identical version bought several years ago from Flyzone), one on floats and one on wheels or skis. They are both great models and fly well.
    Comments:
    1. You need to tuck the battery wires into the cockpit space or the hatch won't close. The latch can wear out if you force it.
    2. The wheel struts are soft and prone to bending, so check them after a rough landing
    3. The water rudder linkages are tricky and tend to deflect the whole pontoon instead of moving the rudders. I left the rudders off.
    4. Further to 3, I have been advised that the rudders are oversized and should be cut down.

The linkage was a bit “dated” I suppose. Did my absolute best to assemble this airplane to be as rigid as possible with what I was given.

Congratullations! You are the first person I have seen that has managed to group-loop their plane on the water! LOL! Rather than delete the rudders, I would replace the fishingline with solid control rods. Otherwise, it looks like a nice value plane.

  • @jbrundt
    @jbrundt 9 місяців тому +1

I've been flying the earlier release of this Beaver for years. It's really a great flying plane and very fun off water. But....the water rudders as furnished are horrible. I added extra rubber bands on either side of the rudder horn to make them stiffer and allow them to stay centered. Doing that really helped improve water taxi. You can do touch and goes just make sure you stay into the wind and don't get wild on that rudder. If you get too slow on the water you'll lose directional control and it's easier to flip over. Just touch, skim a bit then smoothly add power and climb.
    A 2200 3s battery gives a solid 6 mins flying off water.
as a side note you probably found some extra fishing line and wonder where that goes....the instructions aren't clear but the line goes from the floats to the wing strut mount and adds extra bracing. Took me a while to figure that out but it works to add some extra bracing for the floats. Let me know and I can send you pics of you want.

Float planes raise rudders prior to take off for this reason. They are then lowered for taxiing after landing.
One thing you can do is delete one rudder. On take off raise float that doesn't have rudder in the water.

Hello, I noticed that your floats are not parallel. They are pointed towards each other. It seems odd.

a fishing pole with a treble hook on the line would probably have worked better for recovery.

I tried! Those rudders are so weak it really just skims and slides around any wild direction it wants to when up to speed. But you are absolutely correct! 👍💯😎⚓️

I can't believe how cavalier you are when you fly in airplane and that stupid stunt of a high speed water taxi that's ridiculous. Yeah just keep sending our hard-earned money to China Way to go dude

Well, it’s his money, not yours He can do what he likes. And how would you take off or land without a high-speed taxi? What a dumb comment.

Rc tugboat with a recovery device made of PVC and pool noodles would recover that with no issue. Ask me how I know ;-) I have the original Flyzone Beaver that this is the exact replica of.

Try moving around on water at a slower speed !!! Also the rudder movement was to course ... a finer setting would have been better ..
