Just trying to imagine what it is like if you knew Beatles back then when they were just getting popular as a local band having no idea what they would go on to become. I guess you would feel like you were part of history and witnessing history being made. To know them just as 4 kids jamming in a dark sweaty basement to what they became. Amazing. And imagine hearing their originals before they even had airplay.
I've been lucky to have visited the Cavern a couple of times. It's got a great vibe. My sister's late husband was a student on Liverpool from 1959 to 1962 and was a regular visitor to the venue and saw the Beatles many, many times. To say I was jealous is an understatement 😁
Excellent telling of the story of Britains most famous night club. I love everything "Beatles" and it was great to hear the entire story of the "Cavern Club".
I went to Liverpool in 1986 and spent 2 gloriusdays there saw it all came from London on britrailon Nov 11 th and 12 th iwill never forget it my life is complete. From terry a Hoon @24 .
Always blown away by your research, and my ability to constantly learn new stuff about the best band in the world! Great stuff man, keep up the good work
At that point it was still a car park, sadly, awaiting to be dug up a couple of years later from which bricks would be used to create the current rebuilt Cavern, many regards, an ex-pat Liverpool girl, living in the South of England since 1985..
@@Johnny-lr5jt I know it’s not the original Cavern Club but I still think it’s worth going to pay a visit because of the memorabilia and the live music!!!
Just so people know, that Ringo made his first appearance at the cavern with the beatles. It wasn't the first time he'd actually played with them, he'd performed many times as a stand in during their earlier hamburg day's, when Pete best failed to turn up or had been sick, and these shows went very well, but Ringo was in another band at the time, the other band was very popular so Ringo wasn't going to leave them to join the beatles. Even if he'd been asked at the time..
Great history! I never knew the original club was demolished. I’ve been watching UA-cam videos of a fantastic Beatles cover band (The MonaLisa Twins) that held a two year residency there until a couple years ago. It may be a recreation, but it seems to be good enough to keep the history and music alive.
Thank you for the Video. When I'm going, ,,in my life,, to liverpool, I'm going to this place . I ' m living in Germany. In Hamburg i must go to the place where was the Kaiserkeller. Lg Ellen 😍
It's December 24th, 2021. I've been waiting eagerly for your take on The Beatles: Get Back, but is all radio silence. I hope all is well on your side and that we can have more content soon. Marry Christmas for you and your loved ones! We miss you...
nice vid,but we never say eatery in uk,thats so weird...imagine me age17 in 1981 i went to liverpool with a guitar and a bag,and had to find somewere to live before it went dark,,i lived on ulet road (sefton park) for nearly a year,,thats a beatle fan lol

Hey it makes sense though when you think about it. The firehouse is not even on Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields is barely a field and no strawberries, but people still want to go there to get a historical feeling I guess.
a lot of people dont realise mathews street is VERY ut of the way, bieng like basically a back alley street with very littole signage beyong the neon lights that are only vuegely visable from outside lol.
I have a theory that John and Paul were driven by ambition to conquer the world because they had been motherless children. International fame would somehow fill some of the void they felt. Great video.
It's still not working, they demolished Brian's old NEMS office in Whitechapel and more recently in 2016 levelled the Victorian side of Lime Street - they have no concept of heritage at all...
Sad. I've seen so many cherished places go down without a thought. The bright side is good Art and Literature survive. Our Ancestors couldn't pick up a device and watch an Orchestra play Hindemith's Mathis Der Maler, or lie back and listen to Dickens, so at least some things are getting better all the time.
Good video and interesting history. But, it doesn't matter if it's across the street, it's not where the Quarrymen and other original acts played. It's just a replica and those never interest me.
Actually, from comparing the photos of then and now, the current Cavern is next to where the original one stood. It was the 'new' Cavern, which opened in 1973 and would be later renamed Eric's, that was opposite of the original Cavern.
But, i mean, it's not even the same place. Not to be a hater, but, it's not even the same original place, so, how can the newer one be "historic"? For example, neither John Lennon or Brian Epstein were never there. (It's a genuine question, I just don't understand).
This video fails to explain that the original Cavern Club no longer exists. You cannot go see the club or the stage where the Beatles played; they no longer exist. It was converted into a car park in 1973. Why doesn't the video tell us this? Who gives a damn about the other clubs opened across the street, whether named "Cavern" or not? Thumb DOWN.
Can't get enough of anything related to The Beatles.
Hi McCharmley how’s the kids?
That place is classic, should be listed as a historical landmark
I'm still sad the original was demolished
It is if we’re still talking about it 60 years years later
It doesn't exist anymore, genius.
pretty sure it's grade listed
@@Johnny-lr5jt well it does, rebuilt on same site as original

"Cut out the bloody Rock 'n' Roll!" would've made me even more determined to play the bloody stuff, if I'd been John.
imagine what that note would be worth today!
@@lamper2 True! And also, imagine any bands today, taking any bloody notice of a note like that! They'd be like: "Up yours, mate!"

What an interesting history lesson of the club. Thanks.
This is one of your best yet - a key physical location in the history of rock and roll - very informative - thanks man!
That was a really interesting. Thank for the video. I was at the Cavern club in July. It was an amazing experience to be there .
Great research....Great photos!!! Excellent job!!!!
This was excellent. Thank you!
Been to the new Cavern a few times. My mum used to go the original cavern when it was still a Jazz club

Thanks for another great video. It’s clear you enjoy what you do & put a lot of effort into these videos. 🍻
Brilliantly done many thanks !!!

The bricks sold for 5 pounds (about $7.50 US at the time) not 5 Euros. I bought 5 bricks in the fall of 1983.

Awesome video man!
Actually we have the African-American jazz musicians playing in the basement caverns in Paris - to thank!! As John stated Chuck Berry IS Rock'N'Roll.
Is it me or @10:10 does it seem like they are basically holding Richards up.
1:29 is that? could that possibly be Paul in glasses on the foreground right front? before they met later that day?
Excellent topic!
Who else is waiting for him to give a review of the Beatles get back???
Its where my daughter had her first alcoholic drink on her 18th birthday after having been on the magical mystery tour
replica with tourist shop. HILARIOUS!!

I’m sorry you’ve backed off from posting your lovely videos. But I’d love to hear what you think about the Beatles’ new song Now and Then.
Tears for Fears has that kind of vacant look in photos of them that Paul and John do in some of their stills.
Another great band in that played at the cavern that probably not getting much attention right now is the Mona Lisa twins
….and he’s back
It's so SMALL! The main room is smaller than many indoor stages!!
❤️
The original Cavern was torn down. This other place in the other side of the street is not the Cavern.
Who is that black singer at 3:40? I've never heard that story.

Yo dude where you been? Miss you on the Beatles sub
So it closed down , moved across the road and was renamed but it’s still the same club, bit like Trigger’s broom .
British railways is such a pain! I’m into trains myself and honestly British railways is stupid, they got rid of tons of steam trains.
epic
