I had never considered the implication of Lazarus' resurrection in light of the cross. It generated hope and a sign for the followers of Jesus that God could be trusted for Jesus' resurrection. Thank you for your ministry, Dr. Wright!
This video is especially poignant for me this Lent as I weep with dear friends over losses in their lives. It is enormously comforting to remember Jesus did the same.
Finding solace in the presence of Jesus with his people is indeed our comfort. You reflect his heart as you do the same "with groanings too deep for words" (Romans 8:26) Peace to you this Lenten season. --NTW Online Team
Thank you for you knowledge and insight. I have always wondered what Lazarus thought about spending 4 days in glory then being brought back to Earth, into his sickly body. Now I realise he was suspended for four days, without decomposition, in oder to glorify God and show Jesus’ divinity. Love Matha’s affirmation too. Peter gets all the recognition but Martha understood too. Many thanks
This is one of Jesus’ most human experiences. He knows exactly what we go through (I wonder if God only truly understood humans once he was one f us?). Also: “Roll the stone away,” “Untie him” speak to human cooperation with God’s plan. The mourners could have responded, “Yuck, no we’re not doing that,” but instead trusted Jesus, despite their misgivings and experienced something greater than they could have imagined.
A good reminder of God's longing for human participation (and cooperation!) with him. And, to add to your interesting question, we might also wonder if we only truly understood genuine human beings once Jesus came and dwelt among us.
Glory to God. I have never had this revelation of the missing link. “The smell and the decomposition”. The Word of God is mind blowing. You can read the same passage a thousand times and get a different revelation from the Holy Spirit. Thank you Mr. Wright for your scholarship on this profound and explosive eyewitness account that reinforces the infallible proof of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the insight on the “missing link”. I had never picked up on that before. And how this event prepared Jesus for his own resurrection. The treasures of truth found in the Word are very encouraging indeed.
What insight!! Thank you for your explanation of Lazarus and Lent. At my Anglican church here in America we started Matthew's account of the days & parables leading up to Christ's sacrifice for us since last month. Our Rector didn't want just 1 week to talk about the Passion so this is VERY interesting to me!! Thank you sir for also sharing Lent with us in UA-cam land!! 😃😊👏👏 You're a very extraordinary gentleman scholar I admire. God bless you with more of HIM this Lentin season. 🙏 ❤️💖💕
I’m praying right for a young husband who lost his wife this week and a mom who lost her daughter a while back. This devotion helped in those prayers for them. Thank you. I hope to see you in Texas in June. I appreciate your ministry and teaching.
There is so much loss and sadness in these two families. May God continue to sustain and watch over you as you intercede in prayer. We look forward to seeing you in Houston.
Thank you. Yes, probably multiple motivations behind our Lord’s weeping. May I pose one more? Dare I say, weeping for a (strange) joy. Humans, totally helpless in mourning in front of him, are about to experience the certain Victory that God will bring to every believer. A certain…not a wishful…hope and victory. Hallelujah!
Perhaps this isn't only a preparation for Jesus Himself but also Jesus gently preparing his disciples for what is to come: His own resurrection. Jesus' tears of compassion are not just to show us that he feels like we do - I think they are also a sing that He weeps for us in our sorrow when we're at the grave of one we have loved.
We are NOT talking about physical death here. This is a metaphysical lesson from Jesus. That when we fall away from our walk with God and "die" in the spiritual sense, we become foul. The WORD (spoken by Jesus) to us once again revives us and we LIVE once more. PLEASE, people... understand metaphysics and the fact that Jesus spoke not to the people without parable. Mark 3:34. The entire Bible is a metaphysical record that brings us SALVATION! Knock and it shall be opened to you. Seek and you shall find. But seek earnestly with all your heart to understand the metaphysics necessary to understand what you find. Else you are lost.
A question about Is. 42:1. Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my "SOUL" delights; DOES GOD HAVE A SOUL? IT MUST BE DIFFERENT DUE TO THE SOUL OF MAN BEING BASICALLY OUR HUMAN WILL, AND EMOTIONS.
Thanks for your illuminating humble teaching Tom. What are those glove type things you are wearing? I have arthritis in both my hands and wrists, those look like they would help.
Do you believe when believers die their spirit/essence goes to be with God? Or rather all remain dead, literally, until the resurrection of the dead? Im not sure if youve written on that? thanks.

You're right about the absence of the word Lent. It seems the early followers and Church kept various habits and practices (differening between East and West) to prepare for Easter and the celebration of the Resurrection. Thank you. Love the Lent series. Short and meaningful messages. Finding encouraging and insightful.
Glad you like them!
Thank you kindly for these videos. They mean a lot! God bless you (heart).
Insighful and blessed! Thanks
Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer who is aquainted with our griefs. Thank you, Dr. Wright.
Prof. Wright, we pray for your health.
Yes we do pray for your health in deed brother❤

Luminous, that is what this revelation of Lazarus not decaying, is to me!! Very good, Pastor🙏🏻👌🫶

This is such a comforting passage. Such a marvelous opportunity for Jesus to show what was going to happen in His life.
Thank you for this picture of Jesus' compassion.

Interesting to think of both sad and happy tears.
Thank you so much for bringing us these devotions. Truly inspiring and encouraging. What a wonderful Lord we follow.

Yes, he's with us-- not only observing, but he enters into our places of deep pain and sorrow.

You're right-- they are compression gloves for arthritis.

I still can't find Lent or anybody who observed it in the bible. It appears to not be in there.

Are hands ok?
Yes-- just a touch of arthritis that is helped by compression gloves.
what's with the gloves? Lenten? He's worn them the last few videos.
They're compression gloves for arthritis.
