In this video I review the 2020 Browning Patriot Trail Camera model #BTC-PATRIOT-FHD. I rolled in both picture and video footage directly off this camera into this video. I had to throw in some b-roll and vlogging to give the review a twist and to keep things interesting. I personally put this camera to the test for a few weeks and I am happy with its performance. I recommend this camera to anyone in the market looking for a solid trail camera that takes excellent high quality pictures. This camera is very user friendly! It is also great for beginners. The 2” viewing screen is a must have. It’s crystal clear live view helps you make real-time hunting decisions by being able to check what has crossed your cameras path without needing to remember to bring anything into the field. It also helps you make sure you have the perfect shot of your desired spot so you know you have everything in the frame. It Doesn’t make any noise when triggered wether on photo or video mode. The battery life was good! The pictures this camera takes is the best I have seen! I got some awesome close up shots of bucks in velvet that are out of this world! I have been trying to get shots like these for a long time. I did have an SD card issue which can cause loss of battery life, as well as pics and videos not consistently writing to SD card, and also SD card full message, along with insert SD card promp. It was a quick SD card swap and fix, which I had no other issues after that. I also had a screen issue which I believe was caused from shipping. Browning got me a replacement out right away. They always do the right thing! Trail cam tip : do not use the same sd card for multiple cameras pair it to one camera and only use it for that camera only. The photos are also top notch. @@robktellwild9648 I like the entire spec ops line. Let me know how the Recon Edge does once you get it back out there. The HP4 is my favorite. I have a few of them I haven't had any issues so far. Just in case you didn't know check brownings website for firmware updates, they can fix a lot of issues that you may be having. Its good to see they are getting you out new cameras, I also understand the frustration.
Browning Recon Force Elite HP5, hands down. The day and night footage is exceptional and I like having a timer, allowing me to set when the camera is active. Most of my time is spent filming mountain lions. ua-cam.com/video/r3kG-4iaHsI/v-deo.html

FYI: I THINK THAT IT''S VERY IMPORTANT TO ALSO ORDER THE STEEL "SECURITY BOX" IN WHICH TO MOUNT, AND SECURE, (USING THE "PYTHON" CABLE LOCK), ANY CAMERAS, FROM THEFT, OF VANDALISM, WHEN THEY ARE TO BE LEFT IN PLACE, UNSUPERVISED. IT'S NOT GOOD TO COM BACK AND FIND THE CAMERA DESTROYED, OR MISSING (STOLEN).... AND CONSIDER INSTALLING SEVERAL CAMERAS, WITH EACH CAMERA "COVERING" THE LOCATION WHERE ANOTHER CAMERA IS MOUNTED.... TO HELP CATCH THE CULPRIT(S)...
I am not sure if it is a UA-cam problem or the camera, but the video does not look like true 1920x1080. It looks interpolated from a lower resolution. This usually manifests itself by making foliage kind of cotton candy looking, where the details are smudged out and indistinct.
That being said, sometimes UA-cam conversions will produce this effect too, so at this point, I guess it could be either, unless I could see the raw video directly from the camera.

Love your reviews mate. Really helpful. Just wondering why it is you prefer the spec ops edge to the patriot except for pictures. Could you give more detail? I'm looking for no glow that will mostly be used for video of smaller animals.
Thank you! For pictures I would go with the patriot. The sensor is excellent in low light. Close ups have amazing detail as well. I think the patriot will be perfect for what you are looking for.
I'm considering purchasing this Browning Patriot. You mentioned an "SD card issue" "that will kill your batteries extremely fast," can you elaborate more on this? I'd like to know more about this issue before I purchase the Browning Patriot Trail cam. Thank you for your video!! Well Done!
I linked the SD card in the video description that I recommend, and that also worked for me. The first card I used for some reason just had some issues. Once I used the linked SD card everything was fine. I hope that helped you out. Thanks for stopping by.
My favorite is the Dark Opps XD and the Recon Force 4k . My least favorite is Strike Force Generation 5.

What is the minimum SD card speed that should be used with the camera?
Hey, I didnt see the minimum SD card speed anywhere. I checked the manual and this camera can operate on a standard class 10 or higher ranging from 4-32 GB. You can also use higher capacity SDXC cards ranging from 64-512GB. I hope that helped, I linked the SD card that I used and recommend for this camera in the video description. Let me know if you have any other questions. Brownings customer service is awesome, you could give them a call to answer the SD card speed question also.

No problem at all! Thanks for watching. Its hard to beat the Patriot for pictures. Its really hard to say because both cameras take great pictures.
Where is the link about the SD card that you said worked? I got the patriot as soon as it came out. I had the psychedelic screen and returned it for a replacement. The replacement does not record video on a Sandisk SDXC 128gb memory card, so I’m using a 32gb Sandisk SD card. Never got an answer from Browning about this SDXC issue.
I had the same issues as noted in the video. I put the link in this video description to the SD that worked for me. Its a 64GB Sandisk. I think its more of a speed read/write issue of the card. I have used that SDXC 128GB in other Brownings and didn't have an issue.
I bought 2 of these cameras and i wasnt really impressed with them, especially considering Browning markets them as their "most feature rich camera". The night videos have a noticeable audio interference, some worse than others. Both of my patriot cameras also have a white bar/strip at the top of the night time videos. Bought an elite hp4 at the same time, wish i wouldve just bought 3 of those 🤦♂ I emailed Browning about it, hopefully they can put out an update to fix it, i see your videos and several others dont have the white strip at top, im using their newest firmware.
Yea mine didn't have that issue. Im sorry to hear that. Yea Browning always seems to come threw. Im sure they will work it out with you! The Spec Ops Elites are my favorite out of the lineup! Yea, keep checking on the updates usually stuff like the audio issues can be fixed.
I noticed something similar with mine. Around 23:00 in your video there is a clip where the video appears to be blocky like a mosaic. I can't imagine what must make it do that.

Yes there is, try camera setup, motion detection then you can select normal or long range. There is also photo delays you can set depending on how often you want the camera to be triggered.
You mentioned static noise, do you mean visible or in the audio?
I believe I was referring to the video quality especially in low light compared to other Brownings. It appears to have a bit of a grainy look to it. The Patriots sensor grabs color pics, videos in low light, when other trail cameras give you a black and white image/video. However the pictures are fantastic in good and bad lighting.

Great question! It depends on what you are looking for. For pictures and videos, the sensor in the Patriot grabs a ton of light, which helps a lot in low light situations. Which still gives you a colored image instead of black and white. The sensor is also great on good lit days which makes the images super bright and helps the colors pop. The close up shots are super detailed. If your looking for a trail camera for pictures this one is hard to beat. Ive captured the best pictures ive ever taken on this camera. Its hard to pick just one to be the best a lot of the brownings take high quality pictures and videos. Each camera offers its own set of features, so its more of what you are planning to do with the trail camera. Some of my Brownings I use for pictures, and some I dedicate to video. I hope that helps you out!

I noticed on the patriot it reads barometric pressure. Does the recon force 4k do the same or is it just a moon phase?
Thats correct the Patriot has the barometric pressure. The RF4KE does not.

There is significant electronic noise, static/buzzing sound in the videos.
The question foremost in my mind is how reliable are these cameras? The ones I have purchased in the past worked fine from anything from four weeks to four months and then the problems start... eg. No sound, picture freezing, time & date refuses to change and the worst of all it stops working completely. I really don't mind paying the money (£188.00 here in the UK) but how long will this camera realistically last?
Browning currently offers a one year warranty. I would contact them if you are having those issues. Their custom service is awesome, im sure they would take care of it. I still have mine and its working fine. I have Brownings from a couple years ago that I use every year that are still working as they did when I bought them. To give you an exact lifespan on this camera, I dont know. In my opinion, you should get a couple of years of use out of a good trail camera though. Thats seems to be the case for the most part. However, the price, model, etc plays a role in that. Then you can also factor in use, environment, maintenance, all that effects the lifespan. I dont think trail cameras are made to last forever, but can last longer than some might think.

I don't have a Browning yet, the trail cameras I was referring to were much cheaper, around £50 each ($70) and I was just thought that a larger price tab would give me better build quality. Lets face it you get what you pay for. I do use mine every day and download it every morning to monitor the wildlife in my back garden over the previous 24hrs, foxes, squirrels, birds etc with the odd cat thrown in. From your video review and what you have said in your kind reply I think I will bite the bullet and order a Browning. Thank you again for your help and stay safe over there across the pond.

The Brownings are reliable trail cameras, thats one of the reasons why I use them and also share my experineces with you all. Their quality is also excellent! I also trust and use them because I have had an overall good experience with them.
If the camera light is invisible, why are the deer in the still photos constantly looking at the camera day or night? Does it make noise?
No noise, I just think when you put a camera at eye level to the deer it's more noticeable to them. I usually mount them above eye level to make them not as noticeable, but I wanted to get close up shots with the camera. It was also early season, so I wasn't too worried about putting pressure on them. I think its more of a curiosity thing. They are very aware of their surroundings. They noticed it, and I think sometimes it looks like they are looking dead into the camera but are looking at everything behind it etc. It could have also been the scent I left on the camera, Ive noticed they got right up to them before and smelled them. It also didn't spook them though, they continued on with their business.

This is a tough one because it all depends on what you are looking for. Each camera has its own unique features. All around for pictures the Patriot is my favorite. Especially for close ups and it also will give you color pictures in low light. The Recon Force 4k Edge however, if you like higher resolutions it will take crisp pictures and videos and also give you some more options if you are into video editing. The higher 4k resolutions to me is more of a professional look. I did a video on the recon force 4k edge as well if you want to check that out so you can see. The only 3 diff i see is Patriot is 8 battery vs 6 on dark ops xd, the other diff is patriot has a bit longer detection range and lastly the dark ops xd has the adjustable mounting bracket
