NAM is becoming what IR is for cabs but for amp captures!!!❤❤
they're all irs, man. it's not "becoming", that's what it is. that's what all captures are. only they're longer and differently structured impulses, and the training is done by ai.
As a VERY early adopter of NAM I am so stoked to see its integration in a commercial product like this.
what is NAM?
Oh cool I didn't realize this had NAM built into it. That's great because I didn't stick with the learning curve of installing / using NAM.
@@CrazyGuitarGuy Neural Amp Modeler. It is a free, open-source amp capture technology (similar to Kemper, Quad Cortex, Tonex).
@@CrazyGuitarGuy Neural Amp Modeler
Relegating the training to the cloud is such an obvious next step that other manufacturers are going to have to follow to compete, I feel.
Incidentally, that PRS trem does flicks / flutters really well!
The Tonocracy captures are everything I was hoping the Quad Cortex was going to be. I'm really blown away by this software right now. I finished taking a snapshot and when I was prompted to audition it I was trying to figure out how to toggle over to the capture from my amp until I realized I was playing the capture!
So cool that it lets you use NAM captures! Really excited to dig into this
Dear Leon,
Ever since you hipped me to NAM, I've been using it for all my session work. I have a few favorite custom captures that some excellent capture makers graciously made for me with the amp's EQ and gain staging dialed in to my exact settings. I haven't touched a guitar amplifier or had to adjust the EQ or gain levels on any amps or amp modelers during the last several months. I cannot tell you how liberating this has been. Removing the process of messing with guitar amps or modelers has left a lot of space to focus my attention on just solving musical problems. I have you to thank you for this and I am truly grateful to you!
Now, how exciting is this plugin from Tom King, who has decided to utilize the breakthrough technology in this plugin, which to my ears sounds exactly like a real amp and nothing like a modeler. I've come to expect that level of accuracy from this technology developed by Steve Atkinson. Hopefully, this is a preliminary step to Tom releasing a new pedal that plays high quality NAM captures.
Man I hope this comes to hardware soon!
@@LeonTodd So do I! I don't know much about Atomic but having both Amplifire and FRFR speaker product lines makes me hopeful. They seem to have sorted out the modelling/capture tech already.
Diggin the Marshall sounds. Hollow, tubey goodness and great Drive/Overdrive. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Cheers Leon, always a nice part of my day when your videos pop up
That's lovely to know mate. Hope you're having a great day!
Sounding great, Leon! Thanks.
It seems a great gadget and apparently it has become free now, I will definitely will give it a go. I really like your videos ❤
The 7:00 min. sound along with a couple of pedals it´s all i need; even though it´s so hard to judge by youtube videos of course.
With so many great options out there, the 1 or 2% of that missing "thing" we all of us trying to reach nowadays to recreate that "Psychoacoustic perception" has become an obsesion.
That wonderful tube amp that some of us had luckly played at some point is the factor that pushes the industry to compete in order to achieve this incredible results, that ´s the good part. But, at the same time; We´ve became an spoiled consumer forcing our ears to seek that "Unicorn sound" instead of training them to creat and make actual music. Sometimes necessity and simplicity gives you the tools to create wonderful things. Sorry for my english and taking part of your channel to write down my reflection.
Regarding the plugin, as i said, looks and sound like a variation of some many oders incredible sounding things and gadgets today. We just have to remember that they are just incredible tools. i´d suscribe to your channel, you look like a knowledgeable and nice guy. Wish you the best!
SI!
It would be great to hear your take on captures of various kinds vs. algorithmic approaches - amp models vs. captures, speaker IRs vs cab sims, reverb IRs vs. algorithmic reverbs.
I've heard you demo things I like better, but this is really good. Especially on the high gain models.
This is really cool, it would be awesome to see a new generation of atomics amplifire unit that has these features, lots of people have been trying to work out solutions for using nam captures live and that would be such an easy and complete way to do it
Yeah put this in hardware please!
Sounds good! Not gonna switch from Tonex, though; I need the pedal. Also, I don't like the cloud-based capture requirement and iLok requirement in Tonocracy. I'm waiting for the next major Tonex updates; Tonocracy should light a little fire under IK Multimedia.
It seems like every couple of months pass...and a company brings out new developments and add them to technology we all only have just got to grips with😂 very awesome time for guitar lover's.
If it's from Atomic, there's a high chance it sounds amazing.
And it does.
that sound awesome!
It sounds great, I know it’s wishful thinking but would love this as an app as I only own an iPad Pro
Now I think an NAMplifire could emerge 🎉
i like it on the first try !
This is the plugin that every "non-nerd" guitarist waited.
Really cool!
Kemper is getting passed by at an alarming rate. I remember when it used to be cutting edge.
Does it work with double tracked stereo tracks or does it need two instances like NAM?
So Tonocracy uses the NAM capturing technology? Sounds really great.
Yes it can load NAM captures
@@LeonTodd how would you say the capture quality of Tonocracy holds up to the NAM capturing? Worth it to get one and import into the other? Thanks for the great content.
How do you input guitar into the system? I can't find any information? Thanks!
What is your cleaner capture profile you got loaded, sounds good ….is it one that you can post here ?
could u make a tutorial how to use the downloads from you description?
Nam sounds better than neural dsp or stl tones? As for real sound?
killer tones Leon....how would you compare this to the tonemaster pro? or fm9? tones wise? I mean this is very cool and you make everything sound great but some of us only want 1 unit.
Hardware v software is always a tricky comparison since you need external hardware to run the software which can impact things. the captures on this are really good and the Marshall and Mesa models sound good too. Hard to beat the FM9 at just about anything it does though.
@@LeonTodd Except price - $149 versus $3,390. Sort of a huge difference.
As good as it sounds, I honestly think that a lot of it is down to the add-ons like stereo delay and reverbs. I may be old school, but give me a real tube amp any day, and crank it up loud. I did use a POD for a few years, it was very convenient and practical to use, but I soon got tired of the way it made everything you plugged into it sound nearly identical. I may be behind the times, but I can't imagine going back to modelling gear, I'd rather have the real deal. Not disrespecting you at all, you make it sound really good, and your playing is stellar. Just my personal preference.
Your really missing out, modelling has come on sooooo much since the pod in every way, the tone and the feel is there now with some of the heavy hitters like fractal and this plugin sounds great, can’t vouch for the feel of this but I wouldn’t be surprised if it had that too
@@beetle5000 I think I will have to investigate this further. I just found the POD technology to make everything sound processed and sterile at the time.
@@MichaelSorensen-bl3ec yeah if you manage to try out fractal audio’s fm3 which is their entry hardware or the the tone x pedal by ik multimedia I think you will be pleasantly surprised those are both really good choices but honestly your spoilt for choice right now, definitely dip your toes back in and I hope you enjoy the advancements from the pod days 😁
Thanks for the advice! @@beetle5000
Pretty great tones in here, but this doesn't excite me that much. Another capturing platformm. Woo. I do like that they have a few modeled amps so you can just jam right away though.
God bless you for stopping by with this comment, and may your entire family prosper in every aspect
Do it drip doe?
Yes. Yes it does. 😊
where are the user folders locate like where i can put my reverbs at
I was wondering what was going on with Atomic. I'd been thinking they must be up to something with new hardware. Never even thought about this. Very cool.. It does sound amazing.. It in some way reminds me of the ToneX, but different. Man, we live in an amazing time to play guitar.. My only worry is that some day kids won't be playing amps at all, but I'm old and what do I know.. 😛
Your playing is always amazing sir and reminds me of back in the day so much when we had so many guys like you..
You must not sleep a lot because you're so damn busy brother.. That's a good thing though.. The man that does the most in the littlest amount of time wins..
Hey Leon. Do you know what the 3 most uncertain things on earth are?
1) The decision of a Jury
2) The state of a woman's mind
3) What's happening in the world of guitar gear! 😛
Sorry for babbling so much.. That first cup of strong strong coffee is working!
Tim
4) The decision of a jury full of women that develop guitar gear?!?
@@vaughanmacegan4012 hahahaha.. Yeah, exactly brother!
Do you think this can capture an amp SIM from a modeller? I use my headrush as my interface and I love my amp sound
Absolutely
It feels like changing gain/eq works much better than on older capture platforms. do you feel this as well or am i just wishful hearing
I think so
Does anyone know exactly how to unlock the “demo “captures ? I’ve read they are for sale but don’t work ….if anyone knows please let me know
I wish apps like this could be available for iPad iOS users
This could be perfect if they opened up the plugin hosting feature (currently limited to just Neural Amp Modeler) to include any plugin like a typical plugin host. Being able to integrate FX from Helix Native, Amplitube 5, T-RackS or Mixbox, Strymon Bigsky plugin, Valhalla, etc. all within a single plugin with flexible routing (e.g. like Gig Performer) could be the real game changer feat that could make this future proof and truly democratize the industry.
Blue Cat Audio Axiom does this
@@LeonTodd Really cool to see that! Had only paid attention to their PatchWork solution in the past but found that Gig Performer seemed to be an even better solution for a plugin host. It's too bad that Axiom does not seem to offer anything by itself that could be more preferable compared to the competition. That said, what Axiom is doing with third-party plugin hosting is the only game changing thing we have seen in a while and hopefully other companies will play along soon.
Helix Native with NAM hosting would likely be a pretty disruptive in the guitar community.
This is exactly what the TMP needed to go next level - why 'o why didn't Fender implement NAMM. Then we wouldn't have to worry about new amps being added because we already have access to them.
Did u use the free version?? can i use the downloads in the description for free with the application?
What DAW are you all using ????
Me watching: alright alright sounds cool
*Leon does his stanky-assed bends*
Well that's just cheating of course it sounds good
Tasty jams as always, thanks dude!
The fx mix knob goes lower too. Just sayin'.
I am unfamiliar with this concept :p
From the guys that brought you Amplifire (Atomic)…
says free bt you get locked stuff with DEMO mode..then even trying to fallow links by clicking on the lock to buy or whatever your taken to a bad directory on their website.
Really looked/sounded too good to be true (!!!) and about to spend my money ...... and then I found out Rob Chapman was involved - interest in the software fell through the floor. Next
hmmm, interesting concept, but not really convincing me at this time.
- couldn't get it to work at 44.1 kHz
- demo/free version restrictions are a major pain
- CPU load is very high compared to the competition - wouldn't use in a full mix...
will probably need some time to mature...
Update: plugin is now completely free - no more demo restrictions. Also seems to play nice with 44.1 kHz. CPU load still high compared with S-Gear or TH-U.

Tonocray is awesome, but it's missing MIDI functionality.
Sounds buzzy and thin!! The AmpliFire sounds significantly better!!
Always keeping searching for the Holy Grail :-) ...one never knows so why not this one too ?
Ive been Tonocracy, the most, outta all the virtual shit I have. Almost as much as the Guitar Rig.
Now... if I could properly get a capture of my shit (pedals, etc). F...
