- Here's a tribute for the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16. The car that came out of nowhere and was succesful from the beginning. 16 wins from 1984 to 1986, 2 times World Champion, driver and make.

Music is a matter of taste. Don't come with those stupid childies replies. I'm not saying this music is my taste, but I tought it was a good match with the video. Something which is really important in video editing. The Peugeot 205 was a winner. The winner took it all. That mostly explaines my music choise.

Peugeot + ABBA = very 80s clip. I love it.
The vid has a cool mystique to it.. it's not paired with death metal music but in a strange way it still stirs up emotions. All hail the Turbo 16 and it's dominance :)

@edc4d Because the winner takes it all and that's ehat the T16 done. There is plenty of vids with just the engine sound, but I thought the choice ABBA fot this vid was a good choice.
I was going through my favorites and I am so glad I still had this video there! I love watching this once in a couple of years!
Dubbing over the background sounds of the car, the crowds, and the interactions of both with the terrain with music is a sin. Half of the experience of rally is the sounds. Often you can hear the cars coming well before you can see them. I want to relive the sounds as well as the sights. That's why the background music in most of these videos is a major drawback. Thank you for posting them, but if any of you have the chance to post these videos un-molested please do it.

@johnmcluskey the pergoet was defo the best, the audi was very quick but it only ran a partial program in 1986, so the could never realy show what they could realy do
If its a tribute to the 205 t16 why on earth have you muted the sound of the car and replaced it with abba, if we wanted to listen to abba we would, we're here for the car.

@0006super At the San Remo rally in Italy it ran with over 540hp with 3.0bar of boost from a 1.8 litre engine. And the engine in this car was probably the most reliable in the Group B era. It actually is the best group B car ever built and Audi fans can say all they want. The Pug is better and the stats prove it. This car was designed to be unbeatable and just kept evolving every time. I love the sound of the Audi, but this is a much better car.
Actually, the late Lancia Delta S4 was on par with the 205 T16 Evo 2. But the 205 could literally run circles around the Quattro.
Je reviens sans cesse vers cette vidéo depuis d'innombrables années. Le temps passe, je vieillis.

Funnily enough, they weren't trendy sunglasses. Salonen, probably the most naturally talented of the Group B drivers, wore glasses!

@0006super I agree with you about the cars, but even though Audi made and exit in 86 after all the Group B disasters I think they threw the towel in because Kankunen was so ahead in points in the 205t16 anyway. Apparently the Audi drivers hated the S1 and preferred the older models that actually handled like the A1 and 2. To cut the chase short, the 205 was the only purpose built rally car that actually done something big

@0006super That's a brilliant comment and I don't think the drivers like Salonen or the engineer Jean Todt get the credit they deserve. Thank's for letting me know about a few more facts about this amazing little machine. The feeling I get is was if this didn't work it was bye bye Peugeot and they gambled everything on it and it worked.
The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 E2 had 450hp from a four cynlinder 1.7 liter turbo, thats incredible. It weights just under 1000kg so it has the same bp per tonne as a bugatti veyron.
@johnmcluskey the 205 saved peogeot from going bankrupt, its rally sucess was the key to this and with out the 205 we might not have peogeot today

in my humble opinion this song is perfect to describe this car, even if his motor's sound was really better.
I love Gr. B and even though the sound is absent, ABBA is fitting, for the time period of the car.
