Something about Apeks that makes me want to buy every bit of kit they make. I’ll look at the back pack (also for my motorcycle), the torches (currently using Mares EOS 20 very good indeed). The roller bag is pretty much a copy of my Stahlsac. Have gone away from those types of reels now even for UK waters. Apeks blue finger spool & Hollis closed smb for me.
The New Reels look interesting, may have to look into them as I’m in the market for a reel and DSMB. The bags look amazing, annoyingly was bought a new aqualung bag for Christmas but may look into the 90L bag for trips abroad as it’s less ‘in your face’ ( bright yellow with aqua lung branding, will be used for the pool ) I’ve already got a pair of Tech Shorts so I’ll be keeping those until I outgrow them or need a new set!
The reels are pricey, but they are so well made. I really liked the bags with minimal branding, and they seem a similar design to my tried-and-tested Stalhsac, so should last. The new Tech Shorts are nice with the more-tapered leg and improved pockets, but I still love my originals too.
Everything looks great but the prices are pretty out there. Also, for items made in the UK 🇬🇧 I do find it interesting that I can by the advanced torch from a centre in Belgium for cheaper than I can get one in the UK. How the hell does that work? Hopefully the prices will come down after the kit tarts blow their money now just so they have the latest gear first. I’ll check back in the autumn. Also, I want to see how this temp protection works...got visions of flickering torches as the power is automatically reduced then switched back up if the temp changes a couple of degrees. We’ll see...
Yes, they are top-end pricing for sure. I will be interested to see how the temp protection works as well, but Exposure have been making torches for a long time, so you'd like to think they have that sort of technology nailed.
@@ScubaDiverMagazine I’d hope so. Especially for that kind of brass. Look forward to seeing the hands on review as and when we can get out again 👍 Dive safe. Andy W
I will be getting in the water with the torches as soon as possible once we can go diving, and at that point I can see what the hot spot is like, what the beam angle is like, etc, so keep an eye out down the line. On the face of it, they are nicely made and well thought out bits of kit. According to Apeks, the beam angle on the Luna Mini is 16 degree spot, Luna and Luna Adv are a 20 degree spot.
These torches are made by Exposure Lights who sell equivalent dive torches (cheaper) under their own brand so you can check out the details and beam angle on their website
@@Gareth999 These torches, especially the higher spec ones, do have some unique features that Apeks developed with Exposure that are not in their own range of lights.
@@ScubaDiverMagazine it would be really useful to your viewers and readers if you did a side by side comparison of the Apeks and Exposure Lights ranges to show whether the differences are worth the increase in price.
Given these torches are really made by Exposure Lights, can you do a side by side review vs the excellent Exposure Lights range of dive torches. They all seem to be be better value until Apeks puts their badge on them
What sort of attachment points/options are there on the torches for cords or wrist straps beyond the mounts? They don't have any photos of the back of the torches even on the Apeks website.
The Luna Mini comes with a lanyard, and the others can also have one fitted, but the Goodman handles (both the soft one and the ali one) feel nice in the hand. Again, proof will come once I can get in the water with them.
And I was just pointing out that Apeks aren't the first ones to adopt when it comes to diving gear. Don't get me wrong: I love their regulators and fins... but I wasn't really waiting for this kinda semi-dry suit.
I don't think youtube viewers are interested to see this doll and some toys on the wall every time. It would be nice to see more of you, or your products. All set up looks kinda cheap, IMHO.
We don't have any products of our own, we are a media brand. This little studio set up is better than a crappy green screen, or just a plain old brick wall behind me, don't you think?
What did you think of the new range? Looking to purchase something?
I think I need to try this suit for myself 😉

The bags look good, especially the backpack and dry bag. I also really like that reel.
I was really impressed with the bags. Minimal branding on the two bigger ones, and that finish on the drybags is really nice.

The reels look interesting. Hopefully the line guide sits within the reel width. Nothing worse than line escaping the reel when winding in.
It appears to be well-designed - we'll see how it performs when I can get it in the water.
The important question on the torches is what is the beam angle?

They have a few features specifically designed for the Apeks lights.
❤️ Apeks 🤿

Thanks. Appreciate the info. Happy diving when we can all get back to it!
I was hoping I would catch this
Love all of the new gear but the prices 😱😩
Yes, they are a premium price wherever you are in the world, but they have gone for a premium product.
So, they copied the front zipper design from Henderson and Aqualung...
I have seen a few surf suits with this front horizontal zipper too.
I was only looking at other semi-dry suits.
@@duikmans I was just pointing out this style of zipper has been out there for quite a while, in various watersports fields.
