Watching this documentary was like exploring a ghost town - empty, eerie, and left me feeling lost...but hey, at least it put me to sleep faster than counting sheep!
Partly, I think. Roy's is on the National Trails Highway, the former U.S. Route 66. I remember seeing another video about Roy's and the people who owned it back then.
Governments allowing buildings to just stand and collapse with time is crazy to me. Either you make use of it or you remove it so nature can be free of all the junk
Do you think the government is the answer to all the problems then you better look around you I see the problems the government has created go hug a tree
I remember going to Belle Island in the late 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s on field trip with the children I worked with . It was a shame that the Island had gone down hill.
When I was a kid, we used to drive through Amboy couple times a year. I remember one particular time probably in the late 60s early 70s. We had to make a phone call at the phone booth. We went in on the phone there was no dial or push buttons There was a crank up the top of the phone booth you had to crank in order to get the operator.
As a visitor to Amboy Ca., I was surprised as well as disappointed that nothing was said about the volcano there. I think that would draw people to this location. I know it did me.
I can remember around 20 years ago there was a Program to Restore 10 of Americans National Treasure’s. At that time I specialized in restoring Historical Buildings and Homes. Restoring a building that was built around 100 to 150 prior was amazing 🌟🇺🇸 The Craftsmanship prior to electric power tools made each day a journey of the past. Those old Masters were far ahead of their time. History has so much to teach us if we only learn from the past.
Back in 2007, My friend and I, stopped at the Amboy Cafe to take a break from our motorcycle ride. I asked if they could sell us a beer. The clerk said no, no beer license, however I can give you one!
In the 1970's a friend and I were driving thru Arizona, Texas etc & checked our map and decided to stop at a town midway to our destination for gas & a snack. What a shock ! Turned out to be a rundown ruin gas station & nothing else. We managed to coast in to a distant town on the smell of an oily rag, as the saying goes. 😧🏜️
i wander what happened to the poor people who had homes and businesses there, and in other abandoned places. It's not like you can SELL UP and move in. It is a huge loss. Does the government compensate these people or just leave them to start again.
Depends on how the city fails and what failed but unfortunately it’s left to the poor and middle class to pick up the pieces and start over or make a way to survive there
The government - that’s a scary idea as it would start a bad habit of forcing everyone paying for government to bail out anyone where business declines. Think of our already insane national debt. Voters are so confused - the nation is also run by confused over spenders. Look at our terrible inflation now, caused by excessive money printing and greed. All societies rise and fall. We are lacking self-reliance and thus falling fast.
There were a lot of salt cedars in Death Valley when I was there last. Theyg planted them for wind break there also. The desert wind can be brutal. They're also called Tamarask trees.
Interesting topics, but WTH were they thinking when they chose people to cut to for details? They look like they're dressed to impress strangers on Sunset Blvd on a Saturday night.
Why don't California out law. Diesel trains? They need them. They outlawed diesel trucks. The people needs their diesel trucks. Where do you think they get their water from? From us diesellin muyer humpers
We're Canada...NOT the U.S. We are a different country. Those of you trying to enter ere with your guns have found that out. We don't have your problems. If you want to set up cities in the U.S. that welcome the whole world, we have nothing to do with that. We have open immigration here, because we need the population in this huge country, with the longest border... and we take care of our own problems with criminality. We don't ask for help, but we DO work with U.S. departments when criminals must he caught. Thank you. 🇨🇦🇺🇸🎉
* Boy do I have alot of questions and concerns about this young man's adventure. I do appreciate your youthful adventuresome and witty railride but damm fella you could have killed yourself at them speeds maybe a slow approach and then a fast return would be a wiser and surely safer trip,in my humble opinion of course. Keep looking forward and keep living the dream my friend.
Idioms and slang are what give life and color to any language. To "gas up" isn't really that difficult to figure out, is it? It simply - and obviously - meant to fill a car's gas tank all the way up to the top... full. A very common customer request at gas stations of the era was "Fill 'er up!", which was the instruction to the gas station attendant to fill the customer's car ( tank ) with fuel.
This was amazingly boring. Thanks, I've been having trouble sleeping, and I dozed off to this slow and torturous bore fest in about 5 minutes. UA-cam keeps trying to sell me this series, but I'm just confused as to who is actually watching poorly made Discovery Channel slop from the 90s.
In the early 2000's I worked for UCR nature reservation Amboy was the last stop to get supplies. I really enjoy going to Amboy
I love all these stories!! So interesting & entertaining. Thank you.

Thanks ❤. The stories are mysterious, but images very interesting !
I Would ❤ To Be A Mechanic In Those Times 😊 Cars Were Super Easy To Work On. Nowadays Cars Have So Many Sensors😢
I wonder if Disney’s Cars movies were based on Amboy? I saw Radiator Springs all over!

It is a based on Selegman, AZ. It gets its name from Peach Springs.
That lady historian Kenya is so easy to listen to. I hope she does more interviews.
Incredible work Albert, Thank You for protecting the past
This was awesome
Governments allowing buildings to just stand and collapse with time is crazy to me. Either you make use of it or you remove it so nature can be free of all the junk
Ohhh boy are you in for a rude awakening
That way the government gets more property taxes from the companies, they love that $$ we feed them and they use it like morons!~
It does not belong to the government
You are advocating a dictatorial state of government.
Do you think the government is the answer to all the problems then you better look around you I see the problems the government has created go hug a tree

Protect your culture this is your origin
We should be preserving our history and it's abandoned structures
No we shouldn't. We are running out of room. Crazy.

Wouldn't it be amazing to see the Belle Isle Zoo come back to life? What an interesting story.
Back in 2007, My friend and I, stopped at the Amboy Cafe to take a break from our motorcycle ride. I asked if they could sell us a beer. The clerk said no, no beer license, however I can give you one!
It should be reopened. The money could be what saves it for history
Now that's a place I would love to live n restore places like that.

I'm glad this place still has utilities .Solar?
Lightning McQueen saves Radiator Springs again!!
So amboy inspired radiator springs in cars right?
same thoughts too ❤

Germans never settle in the hot 🔥 dessert 🌞
Where is murphy ranch? What town in California?
Its better to tear down a structure that is no use, it contributes to blight.
Who's gonna pay for it?
Why don't California out law. Diesel trains? They need them.
They outlawed diesel trucks.
The people needs their diesel trucks. Where do you think they get their water from?

Many criminals use fronts like labor unions, charities, HOA's and etc... organized crime has been around throughout history. 😢
33:53 *former president. FTFY.
move on not in
What if l don't want to?
Great documentary, lousy electric guitar background "music". Unnecessary and annoying.
Kind of agree

Amboy: another forgettable desert patch. What can one do there? Get a sunburn? Hunt scorpions? Goodbye!
And the horror of the Orange Dump continues.
What does "gas up" mean? I assume it is an idiom only certain people know. I hope that people will not use idioms or slang.
It means fill the car with gas
@@andreaalberti1593 It would be better to write "fill the gas tank with gas".
In Texas we always say filler’ up lol
@@BabyGirlRaven Other countries have a different way of saying the same thing. In Japanese it is ガソリンタンクを満タンにする
