I love the cut out of explanations good job
I built around Lord of the Nazgul and it seriously goes off fast built as a Cantrip deck. I don’t use Changlings because you want to copy Nazgul, not Wraiths, so I use Clones like Pirated Copy and Sakashima. (Evil Twin is also fun to run.) So popping off a bunch of one manna Catrips puts a bunch of Wraiths in play, especially if you use any kind of doublers.😊
Do you have a decklist I can check out?
For real, I wanna see this deck list
Deck list ?
Thank you very much. I wanted to build a nazgul deck. How ever I always feel like winning with combo takes out the from commander. While this looks powerfully I feel building it without the combo finish could be funn.
Not only are the Nazgûl super good but Gollum Patient Plotter and Boromir Warden of Tower have the same lines. Boromir is insane though. Infinite sacs to give creatures you control indestructible. With Mondrak or Teysa out you go infinite Boromir tokens. Do it with an unblocked Nazgûl out to kill your opponents. I honestly like Boromir more than the Nazgûl for the deck. It doesn’t need a sac outlet because it is one.
Samwise does the same as well, as do a few bad cards with ring tempts you on etb. What’s important about sam and gollum is they can recur themselves. This means you can play them while the legendary ring bearer token is on the field, entering into an infinite loop as game mechanics provides your sac outlet. All you need then is a doubler or a payoff and you win
I'm on the fence on including Boromir, Warden of the Tower in my Ratadrabik deck.
It's kind of too good. There's no way to wipe your board outside of a mass-exile effect once you get him into play. He auto-wins with any aristocrat effect. He's immune to spot removal, unless someone gets rid of Ratadrabik first (remember to pay the ward and exile him!). I feel he closes too many options for my opponents.
Unsure if it'll push the salt level of the deck too much or if its on par of what people expect.
I thought about Yarok, the Desecrated as a Nazgul commander to double up the tempt triggers
Altar of the Brood is perfect for this deck. Getting the mill win in a non-mill color combination is very satisfying.
I bought them mid 2024 at 10 a piece still pretty steep, and that was just getting the versions my lgs had that were the cheapest.
Haha 😁 I made a modern deck with the Nazgûl’s . I’m glad I almost have at least 14 Nazgûl’s and 9 in my deck . I bought a few for like 90 cents 😄
What are your thoughts on Smeagol as the commander for the 9 Nazgul?
I'm playing that and it's really fun. Having both an engine for ring tempts and also an additional payoff is great, plus ramp in the command zone is always nice.
@@granite_4576nice, got a decklist?
Just hold up counter magic and ways to protect the Lord of the Nazgul and he becomes very strong
I was thinking of a Grixis list so I could use Molten Echoes to get some extra etbs, but maybe a Mardu list would be best
Marchesa, the black rose
You‘re welcome
I put my Nazgul in Frodo Saurons bane just because of that variant art of him hiding from the Nazgul :P
Not paying 15 dollars of an uncommon that was intentionally rationed to on per box
Same, I’m going to hand draw my proxies. Fun little art project
I didn’t know they rationed them. Too bad, kinda scummy.
I bought a box of lotr jumpstart and pulled 3 nazgul from it. 🤷♂️
@@reviebarr8577they didnt. I got 5 in my first box, 3 in my second
Lol I bought them when they were less than £2 each. Still thought they were high in price 😂
I had an opportunity to buy all 9 foil for $3 a piece and didn't, thinking they would be a few cents each by now...they're currently $25-$45 ea for the foils
I saw the same thing and thought the same. I saw the ring for $40 at the same price now it’s $95. I stopped waiting and pulled the trigger out of fomo lol
@@NigelWhitman I saw the ring borderless foil when it dropped to $19 🥲
I found myriad looks really well as well with copy sorcery/instants with some copy enchantments
Ratadrabik is the best Nazgul commander. They become legendary with the tempt affect. Add a pinger and a sac outlet and win more
I made a Lord of the Nazgul deck. I use enchments to make everything wraiths. I also use artificial evolution (honestly i think this card was basically made for this commander) to change creaturesl type text. For instance i change yuriko's ninja text to wraith and now shes a bomb. You can use it on murmuribg mystic and double your wraith production. You can use it on a sliver. Im fiddling with it.
As an easter egg for the deck i keep Sauron Necromancer in so i can make ribg wraiths. Like a gandalf ring wraith, yuriko ring wraith, Baron Sengir ribg wraith. Its a fun goofy mechanic. Wish the toke. Wasnt so squishy. Ill find a way around that tho.
Blasting stationed a pod to death with this just last night
If anyone is still looking for a powerful nazgul commander i find marchesa is very powerful aswell for a similar reason, as they come in with counters
yes, more options! I built the lord of the nazgul with cantrips and shapeshifters for fun, but I got ratadabrick to use in a future gollum variant, but I like your idea a lot too, I'll try to test it.
Not the best but my favorite thing is playing sauron the dark lord and playing things like maskwood nexus making them all army's and then hitting and being tempted by the ring over and over is so fun.
I went Reanimator with Sauron.
Bring Nazgul back, wheel, and do it again
LotN doesn't have white in it's color mana so how can Ratadrabik be able to be in its deck?
If you watch the video he talks about Ratadrabik being the commander. He mentions lord of the nazgul as a commander choice for the nazgul.
im putting them in my sauron deck
Is there a Nazgûl command deck you can build that’s strong without using non LOTR magic cards?
I think Sauron The Dark Lord is the best commander for Nazgul. Especially with cards like Maskwood Nexus, you get to buff your nazgul from amassing.
Your decklist isn’t legal for EDH, since 2 Urburg. Was that intentional?
agreed. Lord of the nazgul is for funsies, Ratadrabok is for killies
Just built a deck using this strategy, with some variation. Its almost too strong. Its got so many potential routes and you rarely miss getting a potential infinite by turn 5. My play group hates me now lol.
Make a deck tech with lord of the nazgul without the nine nazgul
I’ve been waiting to make a rata deck sines I saw the Nazgûl. Cant wait for them to be not 15$
Just wanted to let you know your audio is a bit off it seems to fuzz when you get louder or enunciate. Idk enough about microphones if this is considered peaking or not.
$15? What happened, did JLK sneeze on one and they spiked 1,000%?
How do you propose to use a guy outside your commanders color identity?
Spoilers, Nazgul prices did not calm down.
Great, now give me a deck that will be cheaper than my rent.
Nazgul worth every penny 😂😂😂
This better be Ratadrabik
Wish they would drop in price. I bought a proxy set from Etsy and they look dope. But I need another set for my Sméagol deck too. Got 8 in my witch king.
What happens when you design a good card that requires you to own 9 of them
If one Nazgul goes legendary, does that mean you have to sac your other Nazgul? I think it does
It does not, as only one of the nazgûl is legendary and the legend rule only aplies if there are 2 or more LEGENDARY cards with the same name, since the other nazgûl are not legendary the legend rule does not apply
@@giovannibss10 right, I guess things like Spark Double make non-legendary copies of legendary things all the time. It's just weird because usually things go from legendary to non and not vice versa
Y'all are wraithists!
is there a non commander version of the deck?
I would argue that Frodo, Sauron's Bane is a better commander for the nazgul.
Exactly I like instant flickering a Nazgul and win when Frodo is on his ''final form'' LOL :P
Frodo, Sauron's Bane needs to deal direct damage to win via combat. He can be chump blocked to Mordor and back. He can also be taken out very easily by any number of spells or rendered inert. When he DOES go off- he only takes out one opponent.
Ratadrabik enables very very many infinite sac combos, a good number of which can take out every player at the table once started.
Frodo might be good in the 99, but Ratadrabik is undoubtedly the better commander of the two
@@silentj0y I actually switched to Lord ofthe Nazgul for that very reason lol. No one will let an insta-kill commander stick once he's online. He's too scary, AND he can only kill one by one
4 months down the line and little price change.
This seems like a fun deck, the only thing I disagree with is playing Tainted Pact. I’m very happy whatever patron made the Ratadrabik deck took the time to sculpt a Pact mana base…. And forgot there are nine creatures in the deck with the same name anyway. Otherwise, it seems like a lot of fun. I personally built The Witch-King of Angmar for my Nazgûl deck.
Sure it's competitive but it looks so boring. I own every card in this deck but if I put it together it will play out exactly the same every time. Won't even enjoy the Nazgul as 90% the infinite loop will "win" you the game on the spot. Might as well be playing a Gravecrawler combo deck.
I kept getting the same two arts.... lame.
Im sorry the lord of nazgul deck is good not super good but it gets the job done so idk what youre talking about
But after reviewing your deck list you arent playing enough counter spells as you should since youre worried about board wipes
You should add wonder and door of destinies
You can make all your Wraith at minimum 18/18 and use them to beat your opponents
Ive had a whole board of 22 26/26 wraiths with menace and flying
And ive done great
They should have made these commons like they did with the Seven dwarves.
No. Nazguls are way stronger as those dwarves.
Would have ruined limited. If you get like 5 of these it’s pretty absurd
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ratadrabik get an errata to say "Whenever another non-token legendary creature creature you control dies" soon because of this.
They really avoid doing erratas and this isn't exactly the most broken thing in Magic either.
you people are all making this deck wrong and telling people on youtube about it... I have been using the nazgul lord and making it work in competitive... you need to get rid of the nazguls... make it all couplespells and cheap card draw. and it does not even matter if you get to 9. most competitive decks are NOT creature decks and your 3/3 creatures are going to push through
"You guys are making the Nazgul deck all wrong- You need to get rid of the Nazguls-" then it's just a UB goodstuffs deck. UB goodstuffs will always be insane because of all the amazing UB cards. But people want to play Nazgul because it's fun, and in this Ratadrabik deck, then can still play Nazguls while being somewhat competitive
First?
any commander deck that can have more than one copy of any card, is not a commander deck in my opinion. Hate that these types of commander decks have been accepted by the community. Rat decks in commander ? hate em.
😭😭😭
Your deck lists are both running two Cabal Coffers at the time I'm commenting.
