- In this episode Georgia talks about the introduction to heel work. Georgia talks about foundations, things to be aware of before you start, setting yourself and your dog up for success and a demo of how to start it. Heel work is not easy you need time, consistency, patience as well as being enjoyable. If do put the time in its bloody worth it. It’s important skill to teach any dog but especially for what we need in the Gundog Field. Hope you enjoy the episode and thank you again for tuning in.

Great explanation
Love your approach to gundog training.
Absolutely brilliant, just tried this in the garden with my springer 4 months old worked a treat, thank you, slow and steady with this one, looking forward to the next programmes
Fantastic!!! Well done !! Oh yes next lot will be coming soon !!! 🐾
Great details in the videos. Thank you
Thank you 😊
Another great video, thank you. I think the point you mentioned about arousal particularly when the lead comes out is very important. Dogs learn very quickly what humans do when they prepare for a walk so it’s easily a time when the dog becomes aroused and excited. Also what type/brand of slip lead is that you are using please? It looks like a slip lead that acts a bit like a flat collar and I am wondering if that is more comfortable for the dog than other slip leads that are round in shape.
Arthur loves heel work 😆
😂😂
My dog is not food driven, now what ? Most of the time she refuses the 'payment'
@@pim1234 it all depends on when are what’s going on, what is the environment like is food valuable in that situation, is that the motivator at that time have you broke it down for the dog are they settled first before you ask what you need. What food are you using. You have to look at it all not every dog is food motivated so I look at other ways. Not one way fits all
If you have a pup that won't lead easily it is always the breeders fault!!!!! Always!!! At 3 weeks old all puppies in the liter should have a paracord tied around their necks with a bowline knot (no choking) just about 3 inches longer than their tail. They will pull on each others cords all day ;) They will learn to give to the pull. By weaning, every pup will lead like an old dog!!! Yep, you got to let them train their selves LOL!
