Additionally, the muslims in Mindanao for the most part are a bag of terrorist screws or enablers. With Isis, Abu-Sief, and NPA, they are ruthless bloodthirsty crazy screws IMHO. I have been there and seen it and their activity. Kidnappings of foreigners, murder of entire villages and children. Duterte had much success stabilizing Davao and was elected as president and furthermore he stamped out Criminals, Drug Dealers, and Terrorist trash all over Philippines. Now you can go to Mindanao and not worry in many places about being killed by crazy religious zealot aholes. A definite improvement by any measure.
Several corrections
1. The flag flying at the bottom left corner is incorrect. That was Emilio Aguinaldo’s flag, used from 1898 to 1901. Its design was simplified under Quezon in 1936.
2. Sergio Osmeña wasn’t “not well known.” In fact, he was the leader of the independence movement during the early years of US colonization. He was also a prominent statesman even before the Commonwealth was formed, serving as governor, congressman, and senator, often in opposition to Manuel Quezon. His position as VP was actually a compromise between him and Quezon.
3. It was under Manuel Roxas when the first communist insurgency started.
4. An important aspect of the Quirino administration was the establishment of the Central Bank, an initiative started under Manuel Roxas.
5. It was Quirino who sent troops to Korea, not Magsaysay.
6. Magsaysay was Quirino’s Secretary of Defense, not just any opponent.
7. He also ended the first communist insurgency through negotiations. No communist was sent into exile; rather, they were all sent to jail and released years afterwards.
8. Garcia was significant for implementing the Filipino First Policy which favored Filipino businesses over foreign ones. It specifically targeted American and Chinese businesses, deeming these as threats to Philippine economic progress.
9. Macapagal changed the date of independence because the US refused to send the Philippines further reparations payment for war damages.
10. The invasion of Sabah was still in the planning stage when it was discovered, prompting the massacre of Muslim commandos in Corregidor and the severing of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Malaysia. This also marked the start of the Moro insurgency which only ended in 2012 with the establishment of a Bangsamoro autonomous region.
11. Large protests erupted in 1970 over the sending of men to Vietnam, worsening economic conditions, and increasing oil prices.
12. There was no coup d’etat attempt, it was merely an excuse by Marcos to suspend the writ of habeas corpus.
13. The mention of a political rally was the Plaza Miranda bombing, the victims of which were from the opposition.
14. Another factor to the declaration of Martial Law was another communist insurgency, one that would still rage on today.
15. Among those arrested was opposition leader Benigno S. Aquino Jr.
16. The 1973 Constitution wasn’t parliamentary, it was semi-presidential. There was no “majority party” as Marcos banned every political party (including his own Nacionalista Party). He then formed a one-party system under his new Kilusang Bagong Lipunan party.
17. Marcos had the support of the Americans, especially Ronald Reagan, up to the very end. They only withdrew support when the situation was already untenable on 25 February 1986.
18. Marcos’ downfall was also known as the People Power Revolution. It started on 22 February after the failure of Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and General Fidel Ramos’ coup attempt. They sought the assistance of the Catholic Church, who then mobilized millions Filipinos into supporting the besieged coup plotters at Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, popularly called EDSA; this is why People Power was also known as the EDSA Revolution.
19. Corazon Aquino’s administration was marred by numerous coup attempts and the derailmemt of peace talks between her government and communist insurgents. Another natural disaster that occured under her administration was a massive earthquake in 1990.
20. Ramos was more known for his neoliberal economic reforms and diplomatic engagements with the rest of the world. His peace attempts all resulted in failure: the communists fell into infighting while the newly-formed Muslim Mindanao autonomus region was marred by corruption.
21. Estrada was succeeded by his Vice President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo-daughter of former President Macapagal.
22. Arroyo’s administration was marked by multiple political controversies: electoral fraud allegations in 2004, anomalous deals with China in 2007, and a severely weakened national government. Her handling of the communist insurgency was brutal and the war against Islamist terrorists worsened. Nonetheless, Arroyo stablized the economy which made it survive the 2008 financial crisis. These policies allowed for the economy to boom under her successor, Benigno S. Aquino III.
23. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was the son of Ninoy and Corazon Aquino, winning the presidency due to the outpouring of public support for his family after Corazon’s death. His administration was marked by massive improvements to the economy and efforts to stamp out corruption. However, he was also marred by natural disasters such as an earthquake in 2012 and a massive typhoon in 2013 which led to thousands dead. The controversial handling of the typhoon recovery, as well as a botched police operation in 2015 led to his party’s unpopularity and the emergence of Rodrigo Duterte to the presidency.
I have to respect you for learning all of that...
Don't forget the part about Ninoy's assassin was one of his wife's family members lol

The Martial Law during Duterte's regime was only limited to Mindanao and that was because of the Battle Of Marawi.
The Mindanao Martial Law was also implemented following the Davao City Roxas Night Market bombing incident which the Abu Sayaff terrorist group were the culprit behind the incident
I remember there was also one during Arroyo by Dec. 2009, after the Maguindanao Massacre. And it was strictly bound to the Maguindanao province. Safe to say, the Martial Law provision still exists, but it really does require the direst of instances before it is implemented.
I'm from mindanao ngl during the Martial law by marawi siege we almost consider that as a Golden age cause all the crime rates went down. In Cotabato the street full of drunkards and gangs wouldn't be seen in the streets
And Duterte taking out the trash there. Isis, islamic jihad, abu-sief, and NPA all were on the list for removal. Today Mindanao is a better peaceful place because most of the aholes causing trouble are napping under the agricultural fields and recycled as fertilizer.

Worth noting that you got to mention President Arroyo and Aquino the son of Corazon. They are the reason why the Philippines economy is able to grow quadruple in Just a decade. Their economic management should have been noted.
I definitely agree
However, both Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Noynoy Aquino were controversial presidents as well, for several reasons:
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo:
• Was a corrupt president with a lot of graft and corruption in the government.
• Was outrightly responsible for the 2nd abolition of the Capital Punishment in the Philippines, which opened a Pandora box of crime and the spread of crimes, and that reversal of the abolition of the Capital Punishment has not happened ever since.
• Had corrupted and cheated in the presidential elections in 2004, which led to the controversy involving Macapagal Arroyo and an electoral official of Comelec which turned into the infamous Hello Garci scandal (and that same controversy would happened in the U.S. a decade years later in the Trump presidency during the 2020 U.S. Presidential elections).
• Was a failure of protecting journalists and their safety when the Maguindanao massacre (involving the death of journalists) happened in 2009.
• Was a failure in fixing crimes that would plagued her successor, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
On the other hand,
Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III:
• Was a weak and an incompetent president.
• Horribly oversaw the disastrous response of the 2010 Manila hostage crisis, the catastrophic response of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, and the disastrous Mamasapano operation, which turned into a disastrous fiasco and a massacre that involved the loss of the Saf 44 (which nearly derailed the peace process between the Philippine government and the rebel Muslim groups, as well as nearly derailed the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao/BARM).
• Was responsible for a lot of further controversies, such as the impeachment and ousting of Chief Justice Renato Corona, the Pork Barrel Scandal, the Disbursement Acceleration Fund scandal, the "laglag bala"/("bullet planting") airport scandal and the Dengvaxia scandal.
• Was responsible for the Philippines' loss of Scarborough Shoal to China, in the first of many territorial water disputes between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea/South China Sea, that would plague the successive and following presidencies (the Duterte administration and the Marcos Jr. administration).
• Was a total failure of eliminating crime and at the very worse of all, even tolerating crime and drugs to run amok throughout the whole Philippines, that led to Aquino III's preferred presidential successor's defeat at the 2016 Presidential elections, Mar Roxas, and which led toward to Rodrigo Duterte's presidential victory.
@@ajpat9620to be fair with PNOY none of the controversies were his personal doing unlike Gloria and Duterte. Aquino is the true reformer. His only blemish is the DAP scandal which was originally meant to accelerate his infrastructure projects but which the supreme court ruled unconstitutional (especially since it's made of recovered PDAF funds). It may be abuse of power, but at least not downright corruption like Gloria's use of the PDAF funds. Aquino's fiscal reforms started the economic boom that we're experiencing now. Unfortunately fiscal policies are not as flashy as bridges and subways, though that subway was also part of PNoy's "Metro Manila Dream Plan" which is a deal he struck with Japan under JICA in his last year in office.

Fantastic channel. I am enjoying your presentations.
@10:42 Mrs Aquino wasn't the one who decline to renew the Treaty. She wanted the US bases since it benefited her during the 1989 coup. It was the Senate that wanted the Americans out. US and my country tried to renegotiate the lease, the former wanted similar payment of military aid, while latter wanted an increase lease in cold hard cash. Two sides did not came into an agreement. The nail to the coffin was the Mount Pinatubo eruption that caused extensive damage to the US bases especially Clark Airbase. In the end, the US declined to renew the treaty.
And this event is one of the reasons US labelled the Philippines as an "unreliable partner"
I wish you alloted atleast some time to mention presidents Gloria Arroyo and Benigno Aquino because those 2 laid the foundation of the real economic recovery of the Philippines. They both have mixed records during their tenure but looking at statistics especially the economic ones, those 2 contributed much to the success and speed of growth of the Philippine economy. It’s important to keep in mind that the Phillipines previously declared its independence from Spain on June 12th 1898 only to be occupied by United States after the defeat of Spain during the Spanish American war. On July 4th 1946 United States conceded independence to the Phillipines.

Hey, make video about an untold story about how Islam and Christianity came to Indonesia please. As an Indonesian, Islam didn't really come with trade especially to what happened with my ethnic groups, an indigenous ethnic group in the middle of Sumatran jungles and Bukit Barisan mountain range near the largest vulcanic lake in the world. In 1539, Acehnese Sultanate invaded my ancestors's land when one of our king refused Islam. Aceh faced difficulties during the war then they bought & hired Ottoman weapons & mercenaries to invade us. In the 1810s during Padri War, an Islamic civil war in Minangkabau, Padri soldiers heard a cannibalistic pagan tribes in the middle of North Sumatra remained as pagans, Padri soldiers invaded our kingdom and massacred 200.000 people even executed our king for not accepting Islam, they brutally ransacked our villages/cities & massacred my ethnic groups who refused their religion. They were failed to conquer us when a cholera outbreak happened thanks to dead bodies that leaked cholera. After they failed to conquer us, our ancestors were devastated after watching our ransacked kingdoms and dead relatives even cholera outbreak happened and severely decimated our population. My ancestors became hostile towards outsiders/foreigners. Years later, a couple of US Baptist missionarists came and introduced Christianity. Too bad, the locals thought they were another hostile foreigners/outsiders and they caught & ate them. Before Christianity came, my people were pagans who had cannibalistic culture/rituals. My ancestors conducted cannibalism towards people who did terrible crimes such as rape, murder, or treason. POWs were also eaten back then. Before Christianity, my ancestors believed if we ate people, it'd grant us magical strength. We also did child sacrifice ritual by sacrificing li'l boys to gain black magic. Besides cannibalism and child sacrifice, my ancestors were known as jewellery makers and weavers. A German missionarist came and introduced Christianity among my people. He built schools, hospitals, etc. But a lot of kingdom citizens hated him coz Christianity could destroy our culture and religion such as our cannibalistic rituals. There're some reports that some people tried to assassinate him to stop Christianity from destroying our old faiths and culture but failed. Cannibalism and child sacrifice were eventually banned when Dutch colonial regime imposed anti cannibalism law towards us after annexing us in the 1907. If Christianity never came, perhaps my people would still do capital punishment in form of cannibalism and child sacrifice. Unlike other Indonesian regions which were colonized for 350 years, we only got conquered in 1907 when Dutch soldiers succesfully assassinated our priest king. Dutch faced difficulties at fighting a cannibalistic nation in the middle of Sumatran jungles near the largest lake in Indonesia

@@oghawil943 Applying common sense you can easily understand what colonialism has done on the name of "civilizing". What civilization!? When India, China, Mesopotamia were civilizations, Europe was in fact a land of bunch of stateless jungles. Ironically, civilized are those who made the industrial revolution that is threatening the entire existence of world. Civilized are those who killed billions of people, committed countless atrocities, destroyed peaceful indigenous cultures. On the matter of civilization, I am sorry, I can't agree with you. I am not saying that cannibalism is a good practice, but is not as deadly as colonialism. Look what they have done to Celts and other Pagans just for worshipping the nature and not destroying her.
By the way, I do not belong to Islamic cultures, any Abrahamic culture rather.
Many people regretted the independence of the Philippines. After independence, the Philippines became one of the poorest countries in Asia
True, the reasons are US plunder
Post-colonialism countries be like that , it's kinda hard for your country to be well off after having it's Resources and peoples exploited for centuries .
After its independence Philippines actually became the 2nd most richest country in Asia just behind Japan. When Marcos step in the Philippines Grew even more but after he ran for the second time where he became a dictator thats when Philippines starts to go downhill
That could go the same for your closest trading partner, Pakistan. Just condemn their loans and bills. At least the Philippines commences cultural reforms.
Confront Pakistan on that issue then we can talk.
When George W. Bush Jr. became the President of the U.S. . . . "President Gloria Macapagal also became the president of the Philippines." "President Benigno `Ninoy´ Aquino Jr. also became the president of the Philippines" after President Joseph Estrada. Both of them aren´t mentioned here in this History video of the Philippines.
My brother in christ you missed the other macapagal (arroyo) president who got herself into some hot water after estrada.
From slaves to kings, the Philippines is rising and will be like Israel in the time of King Solomon.
True We will be the kings of Asia
Marcos declare martial law because of the threat of communist npa, research correctly before you vlog.
Your narrative about the Philippines during the Marcos era is very incorrect because I was born in 50's and grew up there during the Marcos years. Today, one thing I know for sure is that the Aquinos who demonized the Marcos in those days are dead. The father who created the NPA that plague the Philippines was a traitor and was carrying a Malaysian passport when he was gun down. The wife who became President who brought down the country as the "Sick man of Asia" suffered terribly with disease for a long time before her demise is not worth remembering. The son who became President also suffered terribly with disease before he died is not worth remembering. The Marcos family are still alive and well because they are good people. The people who revolt in 1986 are only 2 million out of 84 million and most of those 2 million are the NPA that the Aquino created for their self-interest.
Fake news
Why when on marcos just tackled the bad side? Why you didn't tackle the good side?
Biased?🤔
I dont understand how the media portrayed Marcos. Yet in the eyes of the old filipino that during his presidency explained he was a good leader at his time. Thats also the main reason why his son won, cause other filipino thinks the son will be like his father. Only the winners can write the history but nothing really beats the authenticity of a person that experience it.
youre missing a numerous details. like corazon aquino was not elected. and she i was not the vice president but she was seated as president by her croonies for their personal interest.
By making this video you have sommon all of philipino
This is realistic specially the topic about the marcos era..
Link to War Blunder is not working...
This guy always pronounces names incorrectly...
lol his a American are you dumb?
its A.I.. there is a proper way to use A.I. to pronounce each letter correctly and their use.
Geez, he is non native. Bet ya you mispronounce other language (s) as well😊 #accentletitbe
You forgot Gloria Aroyo and Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
The correction of Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino Jr. is, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
And also, Benigno Aquino Jr. is the name of Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's father, Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.
Nakikini kinita ko na mangyayari...
Very interesting
Why weren't the presidencies of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III mentioned?
Forgettable presidents lol
@@Makapiliparasabayan They could have at least mentioned them. I think they mentioned Carlos P. Garcia then said nothing about his presidency. They could have at least done the same. I thought the video randomly skipped a minute or two
This video didn't include two Philippine presidents namely: Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III.
gloria macapagal was a president too and benigno aquino jr. 2 presidents missing
July 4th American and Filipino independence 🎉
Unless you're talking about Kingdom Hearts, you should pronounce Roxas as Rohas (like Mexico is Mehico).
Why the map keeps on rotating?
Although I never agree on Duterte's appeasement policy towards china but he did a lot of good in the Philippines and the Martial Law he declared was whole heartedly welcomed by us the people living in Mindanao and even to the people of Vizayas who both regions who by the way both identifies as Bisaya people because it was aimed at protecting us from ISIS terrorist problem that was spilling over to their region. The people who rallied against it wasn't even from Mindanao but from Luzon the Tagalogs who were mostly joined by communist right wing protestors.
why did it go through every other era/president but then skip completely the time period from 2001 to 2016 as if there were no presidents and nothing happened for 15 years?
I heard all of you to read confronting the third world: United States, foreign-policy 1945 to 1950 by Gabriel Kolko.
Where is Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III????????
Gloria was economist.
my lolo was born on 1957 and my lola was born in 1961
You forgot about the yellow egg(Benigno Aquino III).
He did'nt forgot duterte but with negative and questioned about war on drugs🤣🤣🤣
12:05 that caught me completely off guard.
You mean Dutert, Duterts? 😅
ELETION.... few spelling and pronunciation errors in a decent video.
Rocks-iss and Mag-say-say. really? It is more like Ro-Haas and Mog-psy-psy. as in psychic. And don't get me started on how he pronounced Macapagal.
@@MVTXit's acceptable, considering that filipino is not his native language
@@MusicaFilipina1 Not when those names are easy to look up. And in case of Roxas it is simply based on Spanish.
@@MVTX no one really cares abot how he pronounces it broski
You forgot to mention President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and President Benigno Aquino Jr.
Pronunciation of Roxas is "Rohas" not Roksas.
President Marcos Sr. Is the Greatest President of the Philippines!!! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭💪
Fake news.
Fake
You forgot gloria macapagal arroyo, And benigno aquino junior
As China ignored the exclusive economic rights of the Philippines and engaged in island building activities in the seas to the west of the Philippines, the Philippines; under the administration of Benigno Aquino III, filed arbitral proceedings against China under the UNCLOS. The Arbitral Ruling declared China's 9-Dash Line invalid.
Great illustration of the pre-Marcos days. Unfortunately the video does not cover two recent presidents and the associated corruption and cronyism were not elaborated, and Marcos Senior becomes the lone big bad guy which is a bit untruthful.
Unfortunately, it's everywhere and everyone.
Also the Hukbalahap communist revolt, that is significant to, of course related to the corruption.
I remember my grandmother telling that Marcos isn’t as bad as he is portrayed today. She said that Marcos helped modernize her community in Davao-Oriental, adding road infrastructure and schools to which didn’t exist in her community before the Marcos presidency.
@@firemanganMarcos is a hero to the Bisaya because he give all the Untouched land of Mindanao to Visaya migrants

Where's Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno "Noy" Aquino III?
Ramon magsaysay 🌾🎯
No mention of Noynoy Aquino or Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
canalul asta apartine celor de la DEDO?
Rodrigo Dutert 💀💀💀💀💀
Ramon Magsaysay's last name is pronounced more like (Mag-Sigh-Sigh).
Bro did not mention Benigno Aquino Jr's administration.
Some corrections there: Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's administration, not Benigno Aquino Jr.'s administration, as that name of Benigno Aquino Jr. is refered to Benigno Aquino III's father, Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.
Furthermore, Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. was not a president, and was a senator being exiled in the U.S. and was even assassinated in August 21, 1983, (which his plans of becoming president was never realized, and instead, his wife, Cory Aquino ended up becoming president after winning the 1986 snap elections and after the events of the people power revolution).
@@ajpat9620 ok bro I'm talking about Benigno Aquino III so thanks for correcting me.
Beware of the Chinese trolls in the comments. 😂

I don’t know who the hell runs this website but you are to get rid of that war thunder ad and you want to get rid of that stupid ad about finding God
You better do your own research, Freedom Constitution is different from 1987 Constitution.
Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo was missing
other countries in Asia like Japan, Taiwan, and SK, and even other Southeast Asian nations like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam have been progressing steadily through the decades after WWII.
the Philippines OTOH, hasn’t and remains a nation always on the verge of developing, never overcoming its missteps and failures.
one big reason is the psychological effects of being a Spanish colony for 3 centuries. religion being a big part of it. the other is its passive-aggressive relationship with the U.S., who took over the country after the Spaniards.
what you get is a mishmash of ideas like modernity mixed in with superstitions, convoluted by subservience to greater powers, thereby resulting in a lack of national identity and even pride among the population. this lack of pride is evident in the amount of trash you see strewn just about everywhere in the country, and the corruption permeating through all levels of government.
you skipped about President Gloria Macapagal Arroyoshould came after Estrada. lol
You forgot 2 presidents
Wait, I thought Philippines became independent on June 12, 1898...
June 4th was the Independence from America. June 12th was from Spain.
@@Mobuku Just asking, but when do we Filipinos celebrate our Independence day?
In short after WW2 up until the 90's, whoever the US favors win the presidency. 😅
Roxas is pronounced like the J in Juan since it is hispanic in origin
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was forgotten lmao
The same thing can also be said on Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, for he's also a forgettable, a weak and incompetent president.
Marcos is Genius our hero 🇵🇭 you foreigners knew nothing about us Filipinos
