    The best part of the Plymbridge Trail is the section which is run by the Plym Valley Railway. You can catch a steam train from Marsh Mills to Plymbridge and walk up to the viaduct from there.

    I'm 45 and learned to ride a bike last month. Been practicing ever since. Last few things to practice is learning to properly mount and dismount without sitting on the saddle. Also, standing on the pedals. I don't quite have the balance nor balls to try it just yet. I'm more confident now to ride. Just need to get used to gravel and short grass, but can turn and navigate driveways, sidewalks and gentle sloped areas.
    Like anything in life, you need to practice. Anything that looks easy isn't really easy at all. It takes time to make it look effortless. I was scared shitless to get on a bike. I got over my fear by not quitting. If I can do it, you can, too. You just need to start, be patient with yourself and go at your own pace.

    Anyone who is about to give up, please don't. I am 31 and just learned riding a bike today, within 2 hours. Before I tried several times with pedals on, my husband pushing me or holding my seat, but nothing worked. I thought I'd never be able to do this. But today I got the pedals off, practiced balancing for 1.5 hours and then put the pedals back on and after a few tries I got the pedalling. My tips would be; lower the seat to have your feet flat on the ground comfortably, look ahead, start scooting slowly and gain speed when you feel confident. Sit straight back and relaxed, dont lean on the handle bars at all since it will make you fall to one side or the other. Once you can keep your feet in the air for a bit of distance, then put pedals back on and try pedalling. Put the pedal on your dominant side at 2 o'clock position and keep the other foot on the ground. Push with the dominant foot on the pedal, at the same time as you push of the ground with the other foot. This will help you to gain momentum. Start pedalling fast and you'll get it in no time. Trust me, I was that person who looked at others' biking with envy.

      William Tau thanks I'm going to try again soon. My husband just got a bike and I want us to be able to ride together. We are going to go get me fitted for a good bike. I can't wait. Between this video and your instructions I feel comfortable and confident. I'm 48 almost 49.

    after watching your video and a few hour long outings with my son who was also ready to learn we both figured it out. Today we biked to the park together. I didn't think at 31 I would learn to ride a bike. Thank you so much for sharing. It such a liberating feeling not being that one person who doesn't ride a bike
    Thank you a million times over.

      Wai Ying Loo Jim's tip about taking off the pedals and pushing gently along with your feet until you get the hang of balance is a good way to start. Also, try to look straight ahead as far as you can rather than look at the ground right in front of you

    When you steer your bike, do you lean your body to one side or not? :o

    • @ILOVECHICKEN698
      @ILOVECHICKEN698 9 років тому +1

      No

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish 8 років тому +1

      You can, but it is safer to lean the bike rather than your body. When you lean your body, it pushes your center of gravity out, making it more likely that you will lose traction. Leaning the bike keeps more of your weight over the tires.

    alright guys here’s a population for you. i’m a stroke survivor and only have use of my right side. left hand and arm are effectively useless. i can ride a tricycle but they’re not allowed on transit buses. so i’m currently looking for a well balanced bike that requires minor adjustments to maintain balance yet us still under 50lbs so that i can lift it with one harm to p,ace it on a buses bike rack. remember gear changes and bra,ing can only be done by right hand
