I found Georges story, by the way Michael described it, as hysterical. I could not get the image of Wile Coyote, when he runs off a cliff and suddenly realises there is no road beneath his paws... Lol.
you asked if we like little details - yes please. We have seen loads of shots of the boat going down with the water, or the flood of water seeping in though voids in the lock gates, etc. Don't get me wrong, those are nice, but special details, are exactly that.
Again, lovely video. Laughed out loud at 'cartoon' story of George's attempt at mid-air flight! In answer to your question about lock structures, it's a 'yes, please' from me. I use these structure steps. Beloved requires i line up and get the boat started into the locks before I escape up any available route to 'do' the lock (she's fine exiting). However, some of these little stairways are quite well hidden (Bratch, for example) so we don't always spot them in good time, so looking forward to seeing them 'spotted'. Curdworth and Minworth both originated in the 6th or 7th centuries, being established by Anglian settlers, and are historically associated with the Arden family (William Shakespeare's maternal relations). Curdworth is probably corrupted from Crida's Worth. Worth means property of and the Mercian Crida owned land here. Curdworth is mentioned in the Domesday Survey (1086).
Nice to see it's not just our dog that can't be guided to the towpath side! Ours was near Nantwich, 10.30 at night, a 48kilo Bernese Mountain dog. I didn't think I had the muscle power but somehow managed to haul him out by the collar. Three days of smelly, drying-out dog!!!!!
Although it was a real pain, in cold weather we usually filled a bucket with warm water just in case the dog decided to go swimming. Many times we actually needed additional buckets of warm water - and a shower - to clean up after a "quick walk".
Thanks for another educational video. With reference to your question regarding whether or not to include the steps at the locks and other mostly overlooked details along the canals, I really appreciate seeing them especially the original features. Paul
Yes please Jo, I love all the details around the bridges and canals, so much history everywhere in England. Nice bird drawings on the walls in Furnley junction. Thanks for another great day in your travels.
I am adding my voice to the chorus asking for video of interesting details- pavings, masonry, woodwork, hardware, and such. Also, George's canal adventure reminded me of my boy puppy taking a flying leap off of the sofa arm chasing a toy that my wife was carrying to put away. He is fine now but came down hard. I am beginning to think that the Y chromosome may contribute to a certain amount of recklessness.

Yes, please show us more of the unique things at the locks and anywhere else. I liked that you showed the spiral staircase inside that bridge. I had wished you’d shown the horse tunnel under the road near the top of the Marple Flight. The whole network has hundreds of neat details, like if it was all hand built by victorians...
Good Morning Jo, you asked about the lagniappe of short sections of videos with the unique characteristics of locks and surroundings that you find. Please continue, the unique bywashes (sp) and other features are interesting to me. I appreciate the indication of feature names (bridges, etc.) as well. Glad to see you both continue to do well and stay healthy. Yes, the George story is great Michael! Well done.

I admire Jo for all the walking she does while traveling the canals. The area you traveled through in this video looked quiet and very little activity on the waterway.
Yes to the details! All those little fiddly bits are what makes things interesting. An opinion I believe was shared by Slartibartfast. Poor George, having to remember which side of the boat is safe. I can't make fun of him, because I know that given the right circumstances I could make the same mistake.
Thanks for the feedback on the details. I will try to remember to film more. Poor George, although it is hard not to laugh the way Michael tells the story.
Having had a Springer spaniel I can absolutely believe George thought he was showing you the right way to go. Our Samantha was a sweetheart, but not the sharpest crayon in the box.
Please do show more of the interesting structures etc. I'm so happy you showed the inside of the Drayton Manor bridge - been through there 3 or 4 times and not yet stopped for a looksee.
Our cat did that in broad daylight - the canal was full of strimmed grass and she just jumped out into it. Swam the length of the boat before we hauled her out.
As you can see, lots of people know the song by Elkie Brooks but how many know that "Springer" is a make of boat (and, sorry George, also a breed of dog). It's a good pun.

Cuckoo Wharf is do-able if you arrive after office hours - when the smoke breaks are over. I may well borrow the route plan for a planned summer holiday, as there are so meny stoppages elsewhere.
"It's England, it doesn't really stop raining just pauses briefly" made me laugh right there 😁 so now you understand why so much stuff is made of stone, it doesn't suffer from wet rot! and why it's such a green and pleasant land (well during the brief sun lit moments).
