I always wanted to know how to kick without exposing my groin. Thanks Paul!

I like The Sude Kicks, Thrust Kicks, and Snap Kicks.

Strike hard! Strike first! No mercy! 😀 The third kick, we call it sipa. It´s my favorit. It´s a real evil kick!

Thank goodness, your video appeared on my feed and I cared to watch.
I can now confirm that I've been practicing those 3 kicks properly for 11 years now.
I've always been too lazy to watch videos, but I read books. 😅
That's where I have learned our local self-defence and fighting skills.

I prefer elbows and wrists for cuts. I also use a snap cut from another style. Speed is particularly what I'm after.

High kicks are "showy", but impractical...it's great to see lower kicks being practised. They are easier to practise, for older folks (fear of hip, pelvis or hernia outcomes) and far more effective, with almost no telegraphing. Thanks, Paul!

I'm assuming your doing these slower for students benefits. Sikaran is supposed to be ''lighting fast'' and crippling.....according to Filipino Kuntao.

This is instructional so yes I’m doing the kicks slower here. 👍🏻

Having trained in Mauy Thai kick boxing low kicks are the most effective and the best protection. When I was younger in my teens I took formal Tae Kwan Do classes in Koreatown, Los Angeles Ca.

You can manually slow down the video yourself.

Click the gear ⚙️ when hover over the video and use the UA-cam slow motion option. 👍🏻

I'm training simple basic kali drills for two months. Not day by day but three time sometimes two time in one week at least 45 minutes.
How to say. This geave me some help to put to the ground opponent with "rambo" knives. Basically I'm just have some chance to survive knive attack and time to run.
Not really spectacular self defense but be honest this save my live.
If I'm be have maybe more courage I'm be finish idiot with knive but on my opinion better don't risk specially when you live in EU country where in most self defense sytuation you are have problem with laws if really hurt a attacker and him spend period time in hospital , make him disabled or just send him to heaven.
Now I'm back to basic training after couple of months. Nobody knows what bring future thinking abaut situation in EUROPE

Do what you have to and get out of there! We don’t need to be super martial arts dude and finish people off in 2022. There is a difference between martial arts and self defense. 👍🏻

I'm sorry. You are a great martial artist, no doubt.Your Kali stick, knife technique are awesome. And i have no idea about Kali kicks. I'm a Muay Thai guy and the technique of your kicks are not good. Not strong , bad technique, so many counter options, head exposed , slow kicks ,so it's easy to catch in Muay Thai. 1st kick , not powerful, 2nd one very easy to counter, 3rd one is oblique kick . Oblique is used sometimes to block and sometimes to damage knee, best example Jon Jones , watch Jon Jones oblique kicks . And 1st kick was either Front kick or Push kick . Both are similar but different objectives. And 2nd Round kick , in Karate, Taekwondo and Muay Thai mostly used but differently. In my Muay Thai style, hand ,hip ,other leg everything is important. And connection is shin , objective is to break my opponent. Your kick was very weak ,slow and easy to counter.

That’s fair. This is intended to be a basic instructional like all my other videos here so I’m doing everything slowly for video clarity. Obviously the practitioner should be training for speed and power. I don’t even add speed and power in my stick videos here on UA-cam but you like those and find them useful? If you like Muay Thai then just do that. 👍🏻

I think it’s worth noting the importance of kicks in the martial arts you mentioned. They seem like a primary weapon in the context of what you want to use to end a fight. I think in the context of instructional FMA this video is super useful. The primary weapon of FMA is to use an actual weapon be it sword, stick, or knife. These kicks feel like setups for follow up stick/sword strikes that are meant to end the fight.
These kicks, when sped up for sparring rather than instructional videos, are the kind that can be easily incorporating into one’s carenza training without interrupting its flow. They seem like the kind of kicks that are low and subtle enough to land when your opponent is focused on the sword in your hand. Aside from the side kick, they also seem like the kinds of kicks that are low risk high reward because if they land the likelihood of your primary weapon landing a hit with them doubled over increases dramatically whereas if you miss then you’ve just repositioned yourself offline with them just as you would be trying to do if you were solely trying to attack with your sword.

Bro i think this kicks are not primary use, you can only use it when it's needed. The main weapons in Kali is Sticks, Machete, Knife. So you really don't need to kick when you have those weapons
