Glad he got trained early on. If he didn't his vocal cords would be fucked up good for years by now. He can play with his voice like not many in this business can.
Absolutely blown away by Jay’s drumming on this. This is one of the more technical songs Slipknot has released in recent memory. Cannot wait to see this live! THE GOATS ARE BACK
First band I saw live was Slipknot when I was aged 13 (and I'm 31 now, as I'm rediscoving my teenage infatuation for metal) - and easily a more monumental occasion than any of my other "first times" by far. Just...what an absolutely insane concert it was (it was the Slipknot & Slayer tour, with Mastodon supporting) - first and only time I ever went crowdsurfing too 😅
I was 13 in the bus heading to middle school, when a friend of mine popped open my portable CD player and stuck Slipknots first album in. I remember it vividly. Still love the band!!
Yep, "when no one else is listening, only when you've had enough, time to sing your dying song alone" describes my situation quite well. I've had enough of this life, enough of my chronic depression, I don't want it anymore, but I have someone who's still listening, and they are the only reason I've not sung my dying song yet. As soon as they go, I'll go as well.
I hope you still have that someone in your life. If not, just understand that there are others going through similar situations like yours. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to a live concert, but I would definitely go with you so you can see the thousands of wholesome fans who resonate with you and I, if only for the weekend. Much love and I pray you are doing better.
The first Slipknot album that I ever bought was "The Subliminal Verses: Volume 3" in about 2005, and even now, Slipknot is still coming up with new riffs. 🤟

1 month listening to the song. Without the hype of having a new Slipknot song, I can say that this is one of my favorites from their entire discography.
I like when an album or song takes me a few listens to "get". Then there's a steady progression from "hmmm" to "okay" to "whoa" to "GOD DAM SON". Slipknot has always been that way for me. There's so much happening that you can't absorb it all without many, many listens. They still surprise me years after the fact when I finally notice a subtle texture in a song I've listened to hundreds of times.
It’s the same with me. It’s like it grows on me like a beautiful Moss. I am at the stage where I have fallen in love with this song and can not stop listening.
Man I can't imagine what life would be like without slipknot. 1 of my favorite bands of all time helped lots of us through hard times. I hope you guys get all the fuckin money I really do and thank you for being MY medicine

Your kidding right? This ain’t even close to showcasing their abilities lmao. It’s is a ok song at best and sounds just like everything else they’ve done.
@@jcreature11 Note that he said "talent" and not "skill" so he assumes that they could play like this the second they picked up the instrument like every gen z out there
@@giuliano8031 they get that just because its slipknot and that alone means everything they put out has to be fire. Lol I give honest feedback. Song compared to their catalog isn’t nothing special at all not even top 25.
I will always say, that Slipknot are at their best, when they mix heavy af riffs and vocals with a very decent radio rock hook on a chorus. Wait and Bleed, Left Behind, Duality, Psychosocial... I love when music is able to be both heavy and brutal and extremely catchy.
Wrong. They're at their best at the absolute heaviest moments of a song. The cheesy rock choruses are their worst songs, attempting to appeal to a broader, vanilla audience. The origin of Slipknot is dark, brutal, heavy, tormented. Fucking lame casual/mainstream fans think they're just another Three Days Grace, apparently. The Heretic Anthem, (Sic), People = Shit, Skin Ticket, Eyeless, Scissors, Metabolic, Iowa, No Life > any of the radio pop songs you listed.
Been listening to slipknot since I was 14, I’m 36 now. Boy they’ve still got it don’t they. There’s a beauty to their music I see now that was lost on me when I was so young. I can find a tranquility listening to this.
Im a 50yr old lifelong metal fan and this band is incredible!! I saw them in Raleigh NC and it was one of the best shows Ive ever seen!! They rocked that place!! Also I saw every age, race, and type of folks imaginable and it was one big American family!! Honestly it was the most polite and well behaved crowd I've ever seen!!! METAL!!!
@@yabbadabberdoobie Slipknot picked up the metal gauntlet after my generations bands got older and softened up. Pantera led the charge through the 90's and Slipknot kept it going up until now. Their chops and songwriting are epic!! Easily one of the best metal bands of all time!!! I can't wait to see them live again!!!
This song proves how much of an influence Joey was on Jay......if you close your eyes an forget it's him you could almost say it's Joey. Jay was such an amazing choice an this song is brilliant. Thank you Slipknot for just being a band that delivers something special every time.
I absolutely agree with this. I remember when The Negative One dropped, at the time I didn't know that Joey was replace I SWORE that Joey wrote it when I found out. Jay is incredible and doesn't get the respect he deserves because he lives in Joey's shadow. Joey was my favorite member of the band, masks and all and Jay was the best pick to replace him. He's even become my current favorite member, he's fucking bad ass.
They certainly evolved with this one. This is the second new song of there,s iv heard recently and it rocks. I was a big fan of the first 2 albums back in the day but went off them for a bit. After hearing this I think I'm going to buy the album
My brother was a huge Slipknot fan his whole life. He was the one who showed them to me when I was younger and introduced me to rock in general. He ended his life on August 13th this year and I miss him so much. Music is the only thing that makes me feel connected to him still. So thank you guys for making some bomb music!
Always feels good coming home and seeing a new Slipknot song and video up. With a bonus album release date. I love listening to Slipknot since 1999. Been a Maggot since the self titled album.
I can’t thank you enough. You are my favorite band since I was 8. Now I’m 30 and you never failed me. You guys are the most talented and best performers in the whole universe. The only wish that I have for 22 years is to see you in person❤️🤘
I've seen them a bunch. They come to my city every year it seems like. If you get a chance to see them you should go. They put on a great concert every time.
This one song sounds the best to me out of the last three records. So much emotion in lyrics, details in instrumentation, catchy chorus, killing riffs, no experimental noises, out-of-scale bits in the leads that fits well into the song, sick vocals by corey to complete the masterpiece. I'm genuinely happy for my growing-up favorite band.
@dolimi jotoo die hard slipknot fan here. the ONLY time they didnt deliver for me was all hope is gone. snuff is a ray of sunshine amongst covered dirt.
@@dagexhd4966 I really do wish I could agree with you. Love these guys. I’ve given it a hundred chances. Some songs have there moments. But as a whole it is easily the least album I’ve listened too. For me there most underrated album is subliminal versus. There self titled album and Iowa kicked me in the balls and showed me the music I’ll love for the rest of my life. Then subliminal came out, changed it up a bit and delivered something different but just as good. For me anyway. I love that they change. The only band I can say that has a 100% rating is System of a Down. I love each and everyone of their songs. If it wasn’t for all hope is gone I’d be able to say the same about slipknot. But sadly I can’t
Can we take a moment just to appreciate how much time and effort it takes to continually evolve your sound while still maintaining a degree of the pure insanity from 25 years ago to still remain relevant and keep bringing new maggots into the family.
Dude exactly! I'm absolutely impressed by bands like Slipknot and Korn too, that they still manage to pour out this insanity and hurt into their work, and still be freaks, without "growing out of it", cause there still are people who identify with exactly this, no matter the age. That's what I love about these people and their art. They are not the same they were back those 25 years ago, but gladly they are not someone else entirely too. And that is perfect as it is.
@@DigitalBath306 If you’re talking about the production style then sure. But song-writing wise they experimented loads on WANYK and continue to do so. This song, Spiders & Birth Of The Cruel sound like alike, to name just 3 examples.
Continually evolve your sound? Nah, they found a sound they liked with .5 and haven't strayed much from that sound at all aside from their experimental smaller tracks in the albums. All the big tracks sound the same. Not saying they sound bad, but this sounds very very much like the previous 2 albums. While the first 4 albums all sounded very different from one another.
So far I’m not a big fan of these new 2 songs on the album it ain’t bad it’s just not great, but staying optimistic & hopefully on September 30th I’ll be much more please with the other songs on the album
I can’t believe it’s been more than 20 years that I have been following slipknot. I remember when Fuse/MTV first introduced you. My older sister left it on the channel and I happened to pass by when wait and bleed played and I was instantly hooked. Had never heard metal before that moment. Never looked back.
Started listening to self-titled back in 2000 and lived and breathed Slipknot, 22 years later, i have a 4 year old who loves to headbang to you guys and have them tattooed on my body, and yet still they continue to impress. Love you all, maggots 🤘
I remember the first time I heard the full self titled album. Blown away and fell in love. Slipknot has grown so much over the years with well written music. I can’t wait until this album drops and they are out of the contract they are under. Corey already said they won’t let slipknot put out what they want but after that contract is done shit is changing. Hoping they go back dark and heavy as fuck
Number 8 is one of the best singers I've ever heard. The range of his voice is insane and the fact that they've been rocking for over 20 years and still sound so good is legendary
Every single member/instrument really SHINES on that song. guitars, drums, percussion, bass, samples, turntables, and vocals. This song is the perfect demonstration of slipknot. Slipknot should make more songs like this, of course with an allways evolving sound. there's no words in this planet to describe how much I love this album
I love how most of their masks have changed drastically, for instance Corey's whole face cover is definitely creepier, Sid just can't seem to settle on a particular style, Shawn just keeps surprising us with a new clown face, Jim cut his mask's jaw off a little more but Mick has almost never changed from his original mask :') Man I love these guys 🤘🏻
This is one of those songs that gets better with repeated listens. I was not impressed my first listen but the more I listen the more I really enjoy it! I hope others feel the same way.
I like it a lot, it has everything on it, its melodic, its brutal, its emotional, its a headbanger... and i dont know what the heck Sid is wearing but i love it. This band keeps evolving and making history. Cant wait for the next album.
Very lazy single, just took shit that worked in the past and mixed it together, just like the chapeltown rag. The song itseld is alright just, done already.
No. Not since Joey. Absolutely not. Only positive i will say is Jay is doing a kick ass job drumming..That's it. Sounds like all of their other crap the past 10 years.
@@DarkMustard1337 no doubt. all i want is for them to stop polishing everything down and go back to the production style of iowa. so many of their songs over the years could be tweaked and more psychotic. it would be so amazing if they sort of just dropped an album that sounds exactly like what we expected after the first two, particularly the growth on iowa. reading these comments i can tell that many of these kids don't even listen to those records as much as whatever came out closer to their teenage years. its very strange to see these comments exonerating all of their slowly growing faults. they manage to put out some great stuff... they haven't lost a bit of what they had in the beginning... except key players... which is very noticable... and are due to be replaced with more artistic people who actually share key qualities with the original members. finally, someone needs to duct tape corey's mouth shut sometimes... this overproduced melodic stone sour shit is really the only thing that they should completely ditch. its a favorite of the aforementioned kids.
Have you ever heard about FEAR FACTORY? They were even more brutal, technical and faster in their prime than Slipknot. The only difference resides in the fact Fear Factory almost got no guitar soloes.
I cant get over the chorus. The synth is a masterpiece and fits perfectly the riffs and the drums. It really sounds like what you would have imagined slipknot in 2022 was going to sound like, for good. I really enjoy hearing a combination of Slipknot's old sound with their modern sound and cant wait for this album to drop.
Personally I feel like they're not experimenting enough or trying a different sound. It's the same direction really. I guess they may be scared to change too much. My favorite slipknot album was vol 3 though. They nailed it on that one. I like how KoRn for example has absolutely no fear of changing up styles. I like one of the two songs released but I was hoping they'd do something different because I'm bored with that same style over n over
@@jakesutherland6294 And then when they experiment, the other half cry the sound has changed, they don't win either way. So it makes sense to only have subtle changes that keep the same sound but improve it.
Sid looks like something right out of HP Lovecraft with that bionic-fish mask; I LOVE it!! And Michael looks like something you'd see shuffling through a Deep South corn field in a horror movie; just fantastic!!
lol exactly he looks like a combo if the fish and rewind sand soldier guy from hellboy which had lovecraft vibes to it in addition to the Rasmussen theme themes
My dad used to listen to slipknot all the time and he got me into it and it’s almost beautiful to see how far this band has gone one of my favorite all time bands
It must have been a hell of a fun figuring out how to make sure that the reflections of the cameras are not visible in the shots. Congrats to the videography team - hats off to you sirs, you did a great job!
RIP the two members of Slipknot Paul Gray (April 8, 1972 - May 24, 2010), aged 38 Joey Jordison (April 26, 1975 - July 26, 2021), aged 46 You both will always be remembered as legends.
Legit just listened to the entire Slipknot discography front to back last week, this new song has major Subliminal Verses vibes. And we all know how well that album did. So stoked for the end of September to hear this album. Loving the new masks too
I kind of let Slipknot fade away when I got out of the military, I kind of assumed I was done getting new Slipknot music and was fine with it. Then this year I randomly go down memory road, and realize they're still making new music. Unbelievable they are still so good, and still elevate my spirits the same as they have for the last 20 years.
They just fuse more and more death metal into their riffage yet get more and more melodic with time. Love or hate 'em, NOBODY sounds like Slipknot. This is a fantastic track. BRAVO!
It's less surprising when you listen to the old demos, it's like they started off wit ha death thrash sound and went to nu metal and now it's ... almost a return to that.
@@5tesStuhlbein I’ve always loved them. They have always been a phenomenal band. Every album has brought something different to the table. Personally I just find their sound much tighter and more refined after WANYK.
Corey once said "We're here for people who never had it so good." I can vouch for that. They are a support system for many. I love this band along with millions of others.
I feel like each member had their time to shine Corey's vocals Drums Guitar Small bass solo Craig's keyboard during the chorus Sid's scratching This is the song that we need
It's like you read my mind, I loved SlipKnot since my high school days, when ever I feel down in life or have some mental struggle I listen to them for couple of days and I come back stronger, amazing how after all these years and tons of music I listened to nothing makes me go back to my old self like SlipKnot does, maggot 4life!!
This group has its own sound, the choruses are very strong and what I like the most is that each song or interpretation is very different from one another, 100% good.

I will always say, that Slipknot are at their best, when they mix heavy af riffs and vocals with a very decent radio rock hook on a chorus. Wait and Bleed, Left Behind, Duality, Psychosocial... I love when music is able to be both heavy and brutal and extremely catchy.
Nomadic
Same dude
@@rschaffer86 on the other hand, you also have no breaks inbetween the chorus and the rest of the vocals

There is something timeless in slipknot. The music they made, the feeling you get when you listen to their new songs. They dont fade. They evolve.

This one song sounds the best to me out of the last three records. So much emotion in lyrics, details in instrumentation, catchy chorus, killing riffs, no experimental noises, out-of-scale bits in the leads that fits well into the song, sick vocals by corey to complete the masterpiece.
