Was listening to One Thing & Why Don’t We Fall in Love and then these started popping up and I’m like oh Amerie has a channel, but it’s not all music? But I love reading happy to see this. I’ll be writing next month for writer’s month finishing my the first draft of my first novel! I’m super excited
Ohhh I really like the sound of All The Light We Cannot See! Yeah, I stopped feeling bad about not completing books. If I'm not into it, then I put it down and go to something else... maybe later I might be interested. Good luck with Femme Fatale tour 💗😘
I really appreciate what you said about trigger warnings! I hate them so much. It’s like, if you don’t want to read about anything bad happening, read, I don’t know, the phone book. Most book jackets say that something terrible is going to happen, even if they don’t say what. But like, don’t read certain genres if you can’t handle bad stuff. And don’t stress me out by putting all the stuff that happens, thereby giving me anxiety on every single page, wondering when and where and how and who. Sometimes a book has like 10 trigger warnings, and it’s for something mentioned in passing or in like one paragraph or page to non major characters. And I’ve worn myself out worrying about it. Just stop!!! Enjoy your tour. You’re awesome!!!!
Can't wait to see what you think of Pachinko. It was a book I bought for the cover, but it ended up becoming one of my favorites. Books I'm trying to get to before the end of the year: 1) The Water Dancer 2) Purple Hibiscus 3) The Night Tiger
Still so beautiful. I love ur music i always have and curious was a refresher😌 thanks for sharing ur book literature leading by example and ur intrest does matter to ppl instead of pics and tweets i appreciate this more i love love reading reading is sexy😍 have blessed day amerie and errybody...
Amerie, have you heard of the author Tomi Adeyemi? I’m getting into her book Children of Blood and Bone and it’s quite interesting actually 😄 PS: I want one of the 4am Muholland T-shirts 😭
I absolutely LOVED All the Light We Cannot See!! Definitely one of my favorite books. I'm reading the Water Dancer right now and am really enjoying it. Two other books I want to finish by the end of the year are Ultralearning and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The three books I definitely need to (somehow) get to before the end of this year: The Toll - Neal Shusterman The Bluest Eye- Toni Morrison Starsight - Brandon Sanderson To be fair, 2/3 haven’t released as of the time of this comment but I’d really love to complete these because I love the work of these authors. I hope you get around to some really good ones to close out this decade lol.
I'm very excited for The Toll. That series is great! Also, The Bluest Eye is a must-read. I have a different appreciation each time I've read it over the years.
Acara Johnson yes, the Scythe series surprised me and quickly became one of my favorites. I love the unique world. I’m kinda ashamed to say I haven’t read The Bluest Eye yet being as it’s a classic Toni but I’m looking forward to getting through it because I’ve heard so many great things about it and I feel like I can fully appreciate the context.
I feel the same way about trigger warnings. It alters the experience when I know what's going to happen in advance. Authors could add a note letting readers know where the warnings are posted so those of us who don’t want to see them don’t get spoiled.
The three books that I am going to get through this year is Are you going to do best books of the year are Gods of Jade and Shadow, John Hill Horns, and Timbuktu. Quick question, are you going to add to your studying channel because I love reading to that channel.
Hi, Amerie! Thanks for the nudge on "All The Light We Cannot See"! I have peeked at this one for months without diving in... I think maybe the title/cover reminds me of "The Light Between Oceans" which I absolutely loved! So, I think my brain is under the impression that I have already read it... ✨😂✨ It's definitely T.I.M.E. to reprogram "ye olde brain" and get on board with "All The Light We Cannot See"... ✨😎✨
Cloud Atlas the movie is so damn good. Not going to lie I was confused as hell for at least 80% of the movie but once I got to the end I was like oh okay now I understand the rest of the movie LOL and once I watched it again everything made total. Never read the book but if if the movie is that good I can only imagine The book must be amazing
Gonna add a couple of those to my TBR! Thanks A! I'm happy to see you're not being as hard on yourself on your yearly reading goal. You're a busy woman! P.S I just saw you're going to be in St.Petersburg, FL!! So excited!! Getting my tickets today for sure😁 Hit me up so maybe we can meet up if you have time. Email me girl!! 😁🤗 -Angie
trigger warnings aren't for people who dislike something, it's for people who are going to experience damaging mental health symptoms by reliving serious trauma. i get that you might not need or want them but it's kind of a bummer to dismiss someone who depends on them
Exactly. People really dont understand what triggers are. Because if they did they'd know that the individual doesn't have a choice in how they react to the trigger.
"Put that bad book...or the book that doesnt fit you...down." Life is too short, indeed.
Sigh, I always feel guilty when I don’t finish a bad book...

Have you tried audio? The Libba Bray would be a good choice for that given the era and slang of the time.
