Such a great album. We knew we were hearing someone very special when we heard Johnny Rivers! I have loved him and his beautiful music for all these years and still do, like so many others.
I was in the Marine Corps when I first heard this album. I went to the PX and immediately bought the album. I also, now have the CD. This man should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This song gives me chills every time I hear it. Just pure beautiful magic. Thank you Johnny for all the wonderful music. You are greatly appreciated by us fans, yet still vastly under-rated
I have been listening to Johnny for 50 yrs and he just gets better. My late cousin Dennis had every master you could get from Johnny and every album and 45.
Love the album and James Henricks songs. I was on my way to Vietnam when I first heard this album. I also love Jimmy Webb's contribution to the album. It was so long ago.
Beautiful beautiful ballad. Realization was such a groundbreaking album and a dramatic departure from Rivers previous work. So many of the tracks have an ethereal, introspective theme and they just flow one into the other. Bought this album in 68 and it really grabbed me.
I absolutely loved this album and I played it all through college at the time the album came out. It really spoke to me then and every time I had to write a paper for classes I always played it. I'm listening to it again as an album challenge. I hope younger listeners can appreciate the words and feelings of that time.
I don't think that anyone who was not in their mid teens to mid twenties in the late sixties could really grasp the emotional feelings of that time period, and how Realization fed those emotions. I still can't get enough of it!!
I close my eyes & I remember as if I heard this for the first time. Johnny your songs, voice & it felt like you were singing to me. I think about whatever happened to You,married, alone, happy? I hope you get to read this post. I wish I could see your smilin'face & You would sing to me Tunesmith...Tunesmith...Sing ...Me.. a Song".....Thank You for the music,Johnny! Todd
1968, I bought this album and played it over & over on my Pioneer Turn Table. I wore out the album but always had back up with my friends album. We just don't hear this kind of stuff today. I dream of Johnny's hits at night when I can't sleep, it is so beautiful
almost every song is deeply pleasing from the first to last. his production, the way the piano plays each note with no rush, but mostly his vocal interpretation is unparalleled imo This was his peak and what a mountain he had climbed on this his finest lp. Rolling Stone should have been all over this LP, but I take it Johny wasn't a player as to vices, did his job, and his reward is he is still whole and in the end this lp will live on, and unless one is deaf, it;s value swill grow like a 69 mustang Boss 302 untouched and pristine.
+Duff Gordon Have wondered for the last 45 years why DJs did not flood the airways with this collection of unbelievable soul searching songs. I agree that the instrumentation was perfectly matched to Johnny's verbal efforts.
Ok you have my attention. It it a plain jane (and still beautiful) or you have any goodies Gt? Mach, . I believe the new Mustang "faastback" captured the 67-68 GT models and is one of the finest looking cars OF ALL TIME- and no weird stuff like black wheels. I have an 07 shelby gt made in shelby's plant which I honestly believe is the best looking car I have seen- better than the 500 truck engine. They put Borla's and really tuned it and it RUNS , deep and squeals sometimes. 10k miles, Lord willing my last car. I am happy for yo- my only advice is to keep it bone stock.
Not on my fantasy list, but being a fastback it will be "forever young" and handsome as can be. Something is ticking in my brain that the Mach base base was a 2 barrel. You wanted the M code 4-v Windsor. hmm. it is a small cheat but maybe some mach stripes? Or research what was available legit from the Ford dealer where he would offer official after market goodies. A great way to get chrome is to add that sweet chrome luggage rack but no room because of it being a fastback- Plus slats I am sure were available. thx for sharing. that was positively civil.

Great great album. Captures the times and deserves more recognition than it gets.

Just LOVE this 'very personal album'.... It means as much to me now, as it did when it first came out ! Every track a realization to me as well !
