You are actually providing an invaluable service for SeaWind and are benefiting greatly yourselves by critiquing this boat to make it the best it can be for future owners. Well done guys.
You're the test sailors so all these things will be incorporated into future builds. That's got to be good for Seawind & future customers. Nice to know that everything was handled in a professional manner by Seawind. Enjoy your sail to Cambodia.
We took our boat Womble, the first Seawind 1600 Passage Maker across the Pacific from East Coast USA to New Zealand. Throughout the 19 month journey Seawind supported us with any design upgrades, advice and support en route. On arrival in NZ they had the boat inspected by professionals and then sent a shipwright in Paul (simply legend) to install all upgrades required and deal with all warranty items. Full credit to Mike and his team for a level of service and support that is frankly pretty rare in the boat building industry these days. Huge thank you to you both and respect for your openness in sharing what it is really like to bed in a new boat. It certainly helps you explore a whole new range of emotions!!😂
Kudos to both Seawind and yourselves for working so well together to get RR2 whipped into shape ready for your future adventures. Impressed with Seawind being so willing to go above and beyond other manufactures to get things right. Future owners will be so grateful for all the work and effort you to have put into the past few months.
With a literally new design, you have to have a good mindset understanding teething problems, especially with something as complex as a catamaran. Even though you babysat it all the way through the birthing process, when it pops out, you still have a long way to go. I believe you chose a builder well that can see what you're talking about instead of corporate bean counters saying no, on that, and no on this, and - you should have thought about what you wanted before we built it attitude. Luckily you're seasoned sailors so you had experience on your side. Well Done Sea Wind, and well done you guys!
I have Lagoon 440 hull 001. You better believe that hull 001 and hull 423 are completely different boats. Massive, incremental improvements. Even the Beneteau spare parts site requires that you enter your hull # so that you order the right replacement parts. On that site, you can see that there are MANY changes that happened as soon as hull 003.
You can always tell a reputable company when they stand behind their product. I am glad you guys found such a company to build your boat/home. Good job SeaWind!!
This is really cool! I am glad you have been able to work out the issues with your boat. It is very cool that Seawind is so responsive. Thanks for taking us along. 🙂
I have to commend you for bringing the issues to Seawind and equally commend the manufacturer for agreeing with your issues and then stepping up to correct them. Very unusual for a manufacturer to participate in the effort to correct anything. I am a power boater and have had issues after delivery that were never addressed by the manufacturers. Bravo to you as well as Seawind! Cheers!!!
As someone who works in design, to the people who say "these problems shouldn't have happened", problems happen. The only way to make a perfect something is to keep the design on paper. It's only when a thing is built and used that many of these problems become apparent. The trick is to minimize issues and fix the ones that sneak through. Design teams have to balance the design with the deadline.
So good to hear Seawind is willing to not only take care of problems, but to update things where they have found improvements to be made. Glad things are looking up. Really enjoy your adventures! Fair winds!
Great recap, bottom line hull 2 is still a prototype. Seawind is lucky to have you to "fine tune" their design. People who buy hull 32 and beyond will thank you.
It seems that the overwhelming percentage of boat manufacturers would not even entertain the idea of having a second hull build (or first) documented as has been done here, so they obviously were expecting to have additional issues as you sailed RR-2 for the last several months. It's good to see that they are committed to making this an extremely good product. I think future owners will be very happy with that!
Interesting to say the least. I agree new models no matter how much design and engineering work goes into them will require modifications for things that don't come to light until the item is put into use.
The solar panels burn marks scares me. If the boat catches fire, you are toast. I would not be sleeping aboard until replaced. Am I missing something? No EPIRB? Why not? Is that a law? Just a different country with no coast guard?😮😮
I am reminded of a lesson I learned when considering the question of how many angels can dance on a pin. The answer to that question is not a number. Rather it is a name. Who decides is the real question, not what. Kudos to SeaWind for exemplary customer service. Valuable knowledge.
This kind of thing is true of anything new; cars, houses, appliances etc. I hope no one ever buys anything as complicated as a boat and expects it to be perfect for them right off the bat 😅
I guessed from the social media response that the last video got mixed feedback. A lot of armchair sailors :) It is good to hear that some of the teething issues are being addressed. And you two look happier. I hired a cat and it dragged anchor- we had 8 times scope - I concluded that if I ever buy a boat I would have the biggest anchor available - lol. I look forward to things settling down and its back to cheaky chappy and fun aussie!!
Hull number 2. Beautiful vessel, but nature of the beast with a new design. Glad to hear Seawind takes seriously the feedback on what works as apposed to what looks good on paper. No doubt Seawind will continue to improve as the design is tweaked with the help of sailor's input.
SeaWind are so lucky to have your feedback, and you are so lucky to have SeaWind. They have proven their customer service many times with this build. I hope they reap the rewards that they obviously deserve with the way they take care of their clients.... You chose well! Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘
Everything is about iterative improvement, watching Seawind slowly improve their product is really nice to see. Great to see them taking advantage of your experience and incorporating it into their future products too presumably. Really impressive!
With it being a whole new model of boat, the work you've done to improve it for others down the line is invaluable to them, so I'm glad they're on top of it and wanting to get it right so that this model is solid and loved for decades to come by all who buy it. Well done. Keep going til it's perfect. lol
I could only wish to have been treated so well by Eastern on my '21 Rosborough. Seawind is impressive in caring and responding to the needs of the end user. Enjoy that beautiful cat . . .
Looking at it from a different perspective... as much as everyone is giving Seawind props for following through I imagine Seawind appreciates your candor, acceptance and understanding that such a complicated endeavor requires sorting out and modifications in order to be one of the best. Whether or not perfection is ever attainable, it is never reached on the first attempt. Not having to deal with impatient, judgmental and/or caustic customers allows everyone involved to put their best efforts into creating and installing improved modifications. So, in my book, all parties involved deserve a pat on the back. 👍
Great video! It’s refreshing to hear an honest appraisal of what is a long process. Kudos to seawind for being so keen. I was surprised no mention of blind spots from ext helm. That seemed to me a more serious issue- although maybe not fixable.
Following you, the O’Kellys and Wynns all of whom are experiencing life with first gen yachts is really revealing about design, equipment, life asail, working with the builders and overall happiness. I can’t help but think of what it was like 20 or more years ago deciding on and commissioning a boat without the wealth of UA-cam experiences you and others provide. If it wasn’t written down in a book or you knew someone knowledgeable about your choices you were on your own. These days it is actually easier (a head full of knowledge) and harder (a head full of knowledge) to decide.
Hey great update, bloody fantastic to see the manufacturer standing by their product and improving it for both yourselves and their brand. Good honest update and good to see you two looking a lot more relaxed and comfortable 😊
Thank you for the learnings and real life stuff. Makes it authentic and prevents others reinventing the wheel. Much appreciated. Compliments to you and Seawind.
New products generally take time to work our many of the "bugs" in them. I am normally not an early adaptor because of this but last year I did buy a new off road travel trailer that was a new product. Like you I have found several items that I have changed out or suggested to the manufacture that might be improvements. Just part of life. Looking forward to more sailing adventures.
Awesome!! Kudos to you two. Don’t underestimate the value to Seawind to get honest feedback from experts. Yes, you two are expert cruisers. This type of feedback is extremely valuable and hard to come by.
I think fair play all around! As you quite rightly say - with a new model of anything there will always be issues that looked good in the design and build phase, but just don't work out in practice! Thank you for sharing! :-)
Hi Nick and Terysa. Thanks for a great video. It is very pleasing to hear that your baptism of fire has been taking care of from the boat builder. Big ups to SeaWind for not only being a top company but being exceptional partners in their new boat and you guy's as new owners. The best boat..car..truck on the market is the one that the company involved involved supports that product. Whew anyway lots of work done and being done, so best of luck and we look forward to you both getting back to sailing and enjoying your journey.
Basically, the two of you are steely eyed test pilots shaking down a new design. The Seawind 1370 looks to be the best catamaran in it's class. IMO, you are doing a wonderful job and documenting it all for the rest of us to follow. It all takes time and patience. Love your videos.
In my working life I have delt with buying prototypes. They have problems, some you can live with some, others need surgery. The most impressive supplier was one that sold us an early example that was basically sound. We reengineered it and no more problems. Ordered a second and the owner turned up on our doorstep. Spent a day with my Engineers and time with the operators. The new machine arrived, we installed, turned it on and it worked. Perfectly. That is how good firms work.
Guys, I am from Brazil, and I build apartments in Curitiba. I feel that it is really similar to deliver a boat like this complexity of a 25 store building with 84 Apartments. We usually spend the next six months fixing things that should be working better and that we're not perfect designed for the job. I am really sorry for you guys going through this, I love your show, I hope one day you can visit us at "Baia de Paranaguá", Paraná - Brazil
Love seeing these kinds of updates. The 1370 is at the top of my list, although I'll have to wait until 2028, I think that's the next open build slot! :(

This also makes for easy replacement when panels have reached the end of their efficiency. If SeaWind would make all of their panels "raised" on brackets, they will have made the solar system run more efficiently for a longer period of time before requiring replacement. That's my two cents. Your yacht is still a great performance cruiser to have! Please don't think I'm knocking it. I only wanted to mention this in the hope SeaWind might at least consider having "raised" glass solar panels as an "option" at additional cost. Designing and manufacturing things is hard. Love the look of that marina! How do you find navigating the tidal ranges in those neck of the woods? Assuming it takes some extra planning to the med! Iterative design. Each boat off the production line gets better and better. That's how SpaceX is doing it and it applies to anything engineered/made.
This is really cool! I am glad you have been able to work out the issues with your boat. It is very cool that Seawind is so responsive.
Thanks for taking us along. 🙂
Props to Seawind for working with you on these things. Making it a better boat.
Your relaying of SeaWinds attitude is a wonderful selling point for future buyers.
I love how Terysa sat there while Nick was talking. She is such a beauty! You guys are so great together!
Its really great that Seawind is continuing to refine the boat. When It comes time to get one for myself I hope it will be perfected.
What a great event, everyone have been waiting to get your boat ready and follow the build and now they got the chance to see it In real life.
As someone who works in design, to the people who say "these problems shouldn't have happened", problems happen. The only way to make a perfect something is to keep the design on paper. Yep... iterative development is a reality everywhere.
Integrated intercom from helm to the anchor box.
Shouting and hand signals are a bit sketchy on the safety scale.
Thanks for sharing.
So good to hear Seawind is willing to not only take care of problems, but to update things where they have found improvements to be made. Glad things are looking up. Really enjoy your adventures! Fair winds!
So good that they’re working with you so well on these issues.

When your doing something anew they aren't mistakes they are lessons.

Seawind what a great company to be able to work hand in hand with their customer. Thank you guys for being meticulous on your boat for future owners.
Yes, reviews. You folks are GREAT at reviews!
Nice to see a win-win. The fact that they are still part of the project can only help their company. Very positive good to see.
I love y'all and enjoy your content immensely ❤❤ it's awesome that Seawind is working with you so completely.... God bless you and safe travels
How refreshing to know there are builders like Seawind! Bravo

Kudos to Seawind for stepping up. Outremer has been above and beyond for us. A manufacturer having our backs makes all the difference.
Great video! It’s refreshing to hear an honest appraisal of what is a long process. Kudos to seawind for being so keen. I was surprised no mention of blind spots from ext helm. That seemed to me a more serious issue- although maybe not fixable.
I’m glad to see you are moving forward and not so stressed out. You need some sailing and fun!
It’s great to see you guys smiling and looking relaxed. Enjoy the ride!!!!
Builder working with the owners to get the best possible product. Impressive, really informative and great movie, well done to everyone! 👍👏👏👏

Great to see you both more relaxed this week .
Thanks for the update. We could see the frustration and we appreciate your honest conversation
Props to SeaWind, not many manufacturers would step up like that. Glad to see the two of you looking more content and relaxed than in recent episodes.
Hey great update, bloody fantastic to see the manufacturer standing by their product and improving it for both yourselves and their brand. Good honest update and good to see you two looking a lot more relaxed and comfortable 😊

EXACTLY the kind of technical content I love about your channel.
Fine Business, Nick.
Loving the fact you are still in love with your new home. Can't wait to see what happens next
Really enjoyed watching! You both seem much happier now which is great to see!
Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to seeing your next video. Safe travels.
New products generally take time to work our many of the "bugs" in them. Awesome!! Kudos to you two. Don’t underestimate the value to Seawind to get honest feedback from experts. Yes, you two are expert cruisers. This type of feedback is extremely valuable and hard to come by.
I love the positivity of this episode. 😊
I can listen to you guys all day! Thanks for sharing what ya know!
In my working life I have delt with buying prototypes. They have problems, some you can live with some, others need surgery.
The most impressive supplier was one that sold us an early example that was basically sound. We reengineered it and no more problems. Ordered a second and the owner turned up on our doorstep. Maverick approves this time out ~ you both needed a reset. Keep it tear free ~
Great info. Thank you for the "naked" truth ! Best wishes from Montana
What about all the anchor issues ?
YES! larger or different? More rode? what's up?
The car manufacturers build at least a hundred prototypes before they build the first customer car. You really have the first prototype and Seawind will continue to improve the 1350’s as more customers feed back and the build process matures. You are fortunate to have picked an excellent company to work with.
Hi Ruby Rose! Great to hear SeaWind making things right for Hull #2 and beyond! After-all, this new boat is still in BETA you might say... There is one thing I must say in regard to the solar that I personally believe is very important. I'm of the opinion solar panels "must" have a means of being cooled because they do get hot. This is why I believe Balance Catamaran has actually done it RIGHT in regard to solar. I think you know Balance has built in raised brackets for glass solar panels to rest upon. I know it would add additional weight with glass panels. However, I believe it's worth it if you consider the gained efficiency and ease of replacement once that efficiency is ran out and requires replacement. Look forward to the next video! Stay Awesome! David
We love the reviews! Your original series with the scores was so thorough, my favorite reviews, really.
Great effort Yohei to go as far as you did. Looks incredibly tough and hard going. Awesome scenery too! If you say it’s tough it would be incredibly difficult 😳
Not a diamond but no worries, we were just going for a really nice Ruby!
Excellent update guys!
❤❤❤ty for your honesty. It helps others SO much ❤❤❤
It will be interesting to compare the Wynn's experience with HH with your experience. What you are describing seems reasonable as the things you dicover actually save them warranty issues on subsequent hulls.
I thought this video was just awesome very informative and it just reminded me of people doing their job drawing up blueprints is one thing living in it is totally another it's so easy to miss things and things are way more complicated than you think despite all the little issues that is an awesome boat
Excellent video. Really enjoyed it!. Thanks both!!👍
Great attention to detail, hope you enjoy RR for many years…
Some people commented on a previous video that you need a heavier anchor and heavier anchor chain. Did you upgrade your ground tackle since your boat dragging incident?
You'll
Have obviously done this before . It very imformative
I hope you get the opportunity to get on Jason & Nikky's new boat soon so you can share your experiences with them. Your experienced eye might find a thing or two for them BEFORE it bites them.
Do you need a larger/better anchor?
Be interesting to see if Seawind makes these changes on other boats. After all, most of the other owners won't have a Sailing channel documenting their experience as new Seawind owners.
Designing and manufacturing things is hard. They could have spent a lot of time and money on prototypes and still wouldn't have gotten the kind of feedback you can give them from a customer point of view. I am only doing software but even the best designs survive the first customer contact :)
So instead giving out the first hulls quickly to the customers and generously fix any issue and shortcomings is quicker and smarter.
Love the look of that marina! How do you find navigating the tidal ranges in those neck of the woods? Assuming it takes some extra planning to the med! Excited for the upgrades - final q - where is your favourite area to cruise in Thailand so far…? One of our favourite spots in the world!
P.s Ross says he feels your pain re nudity edits Theresa, though it does demonstrate one of the wonderful liberating perks of sailing life ❤❤❤
Super excellent video, thanks so much!
Props to SeaWind!
Glad he did all the talking.
Thanks!
you have sold so many boats for them, you are their ambassador, also the fine tuning of their product
Love the reviews.. love your channel!
I love the way you guys keep it real. Those whinging about your whinging in the last episode should consider what they want.
Saying about problems and difficulties is what gives the flavour to the fun bits.
Boring as heck otherwise.
