Unboxing and setting up the lowest cost white toner printer - HP M254DW with Ghost White Toner

- In this video I open on a brand new HP M254DW Laser printer with the Ghost white toner cartridge from start to finish. I cover the setup and installation of the printer on a wireless network on a computer using Windows 10 and show you how to verify that your toner cartridges are working correctly and briefly discuss the who you will want to contact for warranty or support on the printer, toner, and transfer paper.
As I mentioned in the video, the HP M254DW printer show in the video runs on the same print engine as the HP M452DW shown used in all of my other videos. This means that everything I show you in my videos excluding loading the MP tray can be applied to the M254DW.

I personally believe that Vinyl Master's contour cutting function is the best option for creating transfers using Ghost white toner when using the two pass method. I just unboxed my printer and have tried a test print on plain paper. The cyan is printing pink and the magenta is red. They are HP cartridges. I have run a couple of calibrations to see if that would help, but it didn't. Any tips that can resolve this issue?

That's not going to do anything but waste your time and toner. Most papers will have a white boosting in their adhesive that can help with this if you really need it.

How long does the white toner prints last on clothing ?
I am looking to grow my little vinyl business with the addition of a white toner printer in order to offer more intricate designs. Specifically, distressed images are a request I get constantly, which, you know, is harder to achieve with vinyl. I have been researching laser printers and just wondered if you have a recommendation for your favorite low cost laser printer? I was decided on the HP m452dw after watching one of your other videos, but then I see now that they have the HP m454dw, just a newer model according to HP so I assume the white toner should work with that also. Now watching this video of the M254, I'm just confused as to which would be the best for just starting out with this type of design and use of white toner. I want to produce t-shirt transfers mainly, occasionally hard surface transfers and occasionally paper products/stickers/leaflets. My business is pretty small though, I do around 20 shirts, a sign or two and a few decals each week. Which printer would you recommend? Also, definitely looking into the Vinyl Master program now! Eventually USCutter.com will have the CMYK Ghost cartridges for the M254DW. I can't tell you when that would be since the Marketing department is in charge of all of that now. Until then the best option for toners are going to be the OEM HP toner cartridges. They will not get darker when pressed with a heat press like cheaper toners so you don't have to worry about your color going bad. When using 2 step papers, you may see some cracking on your transparent A sheet before pressing the adhesive B sheet to it. I've only seen this happen once or twice in the entire time I've been using the HP OEM toner cartridges. Stay away from the off brand amazon toner cartridges!
Do we also need to use special CMYK TONER for it to be eligible for heat transfers or can we just use the toner that came within the printer and just print white with combination of GHOST toner ?

the ghost toner is white toner that lets you print on dark fabrics.
To be clear: the printer may be the lowest cost machine for purchase. But the Ghost toners are the most expensive toners out there. They cost double the price of OKI.
I think you are confused. If you buy a OKI white toner printer it will cost at least $3500 to purchase the printer. All OKI white toner printers also use a cartridge system that comes in two separate parts. The top part will carry the toner and the lower part is the drum that applies the toner to the transfer belt. The current price for the C711 white toner cartridge in the United States is $263 and then the drum unit is $135. The price of a ghost cartridge for M254 or Canon LBP 623 is $275 and then the printer itself is around $400-$500 dollars.

@@JoshsCorner white pine, Doug fir, cedar, really any hardwood would be great. There is so many instructions that contradict each other about temps and times.

Can you explain a little more why getting the icolor machine is better. I like it. Business in a box idea. And when I watch your videos it's hard for me to justify getting icolor 600. It's hard to justify getting it when you do everything so perfect without the expensive machine. It seems like I won't be better getting a HP printer and a Sawgrass printer. After watching your videos I feel stupid thinking about purchasing the big machine. Can you tell me if I had the money why I should

I don't think anyone but HP is making toner cartridges for that right now but I am testing that printer.

Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with getting my ghost white toner to print white. I set the driver to print grayscale. The white ink comes out blue. Do you have any suggestions? My printer in the HP Laserjet M252dw
Whatever program you are using to print is mixing Cyan with the white. They say that when you mix Cyan and black you get a richer black.

They have different cartridge codes when you look up the models on printer/toner sellers.
This printer can print legal size 8.5 x 14 right?
For normal paper yes. For Transfer papers I ran into jams with the larger sizes using the MP tray so 8.5x11 is the largest transfer size I can honestly recommend using with these little HP printers.

The ghost printer doesn’t have the chip require to print with the HP printer I don’t think. Did u have to remove the chip from the black toner and put it in the white? Wasn’t the chip glued on? How did it come out?
