I am a tea girl myself, but I love the smell of coffee. While you were making your morning cups, I could imagine the smell and the feel of wrapping your hands around the mug when it was so chilly in the cabin; it must have been heaven. ☕ I was interested in how you dressed for the cold. I live in Ontario, Canada and the other day was -25C; today it is -8C and we are having a snowstorm with 50 kph winds. My usual response to the cold is to stay inside. I admire you both for the way you embrace the season and find joy . Thank you for sharing such an important message with us all.

A realistic morning routine that doesn’t start at 4am or 5 am with something else that no one else does… love this one-just nature, a dog and being your authentic self. My type of morning! (8am still a bit early 😂 )
That's my day off routine. But during the week i also get up at 4 AM. 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️FML lol

Some people do wake up at 4 am. I have a friend who does that. It's realistic for them. Everyone is different

"Put your happiness into the small things in life." Now that I am retired, I am not distracted nor driven by obligations and schedules. I too love my morning coffee, but my greatest moments of happiness come from the nightly cuddles with my Havanese puppy. We take long walks to the beach during the Alaskan summer, I cherish the time I spend brushing her as her fur grows out throughout the winter, but it is the time we spend cuddling in my bed just before sleep that fills my heart with a feeling of connection and love.
Oooh so excited to hear more about the running water! 🤗 Also if anyone needs a quick hack for Celsius to Fahrenheit - double the Celsius and add 30 degrees. So they like their cabin approximately between 72-76 degrees Fahrenheit.

100% agree about the 'happiness in the small things', particularly with getting a cup of coffee! For some reason I find it so comforting to make and drink a coffee. If I'm feeling a bit down or lonely, or the weather is cold, dark or rainy, I find it to be a real mood-booster :)
The small things in life that make me happy is my German Shepherd waking me up in the morning and seeing his goofy looking face 😂 having that first cup of coffee ☕️ and walking/hill walking Kody every day. It’s so important to appreciate the little things in life, it helps me stay positive 😊 which isn’t as easy nowadays but it certainly helps 😆 Love your channel Cecilia ❤️ Love your positivity 🤗
Hi Cecilia, can you do a segment on your water system and explain more on how much wood you use and the cost of wood. Also, is electric expensive? When the coal mine shuts down, how will the Town produce electric?

I would love American mornings to be this thoughtful as one eases into their day. I get up at 5:45am and barely have time to exercise, take care of the dogs, and get ready for work before someone expects you to be available for meetings. Ugh. I really enjoyed this video.

Yes would love vlog on Arctic clothes, also what visitors should bring, how to pack and what they should get in Svalbard when visiting in polar nights for a northern lights vacation. Very interested in your water system, how you keep it from freezing, your water saving tips, cost to maintain, etc.
I love the small things as well!! A candle, the mini lights.. smell and taste of coffee. Those are actually all things that make me happy. So much so that people think it’s strange. I’ll never change though. The little things are enough.

Putting your happiness in the small things in life is how I live my life. I get excited about things that other people would either think "meh" or worse, not even notice at all. A snowfall, a bright moon, the birds and squirrels that come to my feeders, holding my friends new grandson - all those little things add up. Also, a friend of mine taught me to "Live a grateful life." So also be grateful for the small things. Appreciating what you have will help you be happy.
Good morning Cecilia, your life appears to be so calm and slow and simple and there are times in our lives when we need the stillness to listen to our thoughts right down our thoughts, interact with the people around us if it’s just one person, read a special book, and to have self-care for yourself and the ones that you love. I love the simplicity and the coziness of your decor in your home or your cabin and I like the word Kevin it makes a person feel so loved and so cared for in a place of serenity. Enjoy those days of darkness yet you have brought light into your home with your beautiful spirit and attitude and how you take care of Chris and your animals and how you embrace the northern lights, the snow and ice and even the cold weather, there are not many of us that get to experience the serenity of the cold weather and the warmness of a fire within our homes in a cozy fireplace. I appreciate your comments about finding happiness in the small things like coffee. Your love of coffee is similar to my love of tea. Over the holidays away from work, I enjoy my pot of tea reading on the sofa before beginning my day. I do that too on the weekends once I returned to work (although my work is at home these days so I can enjoy a pot at my computer).

I just started watching your channel and enjoy your videos. I live in the U.S. not far from Chicago. Our winters are nothing like yours but January and February have always been difficult months for me, very cold and cloudy, so your tips have been very helpful!

Left over lumber is a gift. I cut and use discard from recent renos. I also wake to a cold home. Heating with wood gives a warmth that is special. I also live far removed from population. There is nothing that equals nature. Our Norse ancestors would agree with our shared love of the beauty of NATURE. 💚

Cecilia I am so in love with Svalbard. If I were younger and had the means I would live there. As a suggestion for a nice photo op(or colour correction thing):
Wilderness (tundra,glazier etc doesnt matter. Whatever works) at sunrise or sunset+ grim, but the overall colour spectrum is in warm orange and yellow.
I think this would look lovely together with his fur tones and be a nice contrast to the usual colour spectrum usually associated with the polar circle :)
Your northern lights photos/vids are amazing. A-MAZ-ING. Also, some of the closeups of christmas decor were so fun, and I think you could use them for various Cecilia merch and put out holiday collections. The northern lights especially for me, though.

I would LOVE some nature prints! I think it would be cool if you did a series that moved through different color hues, maybe a collection of prints and each one has a specific color tone. They could be grouped as a set--that would look so neat hung along a wall!
Put your happiness into the small things in life is such a simple, but good advice ❤️ It's the same thing I always like to say. If you can find those little things in daily life that give you happiness, it'll give you so much. One of those things to me is also coffee, while watching your relaxing vlogs from the north 😊 I have experienced having both more in life, but also having less good situation financially & one thing it has taught me is that you don't need any fancy things to make you happy. While it's of course giving you a lot to be able to have a roof on top of your head & nice food to eat, many physical fancy things don't bring you long term happiness.

Being so warm and sheltered so far up north makes the coziness of the cabin even more intense. I understand that the firewood is expensive, maybe drift wood on the shores could be worth gathering? And a little tip, I got the same wood stove as you in my cabin, the Contura with the little oven above the fire. I use it to bake loafs of bread, works perfectly - only remember to turn the bread around after half the time because the heat is uneven.
The small things in life. Yes! Exactly. The culmination of those things help me create my happy place. Right there with you!
I would love a video on how you and your family all ended up living in different countries, and how you handle being far away from each other. My family is only a 7 hour drive away and that's hard for me. 😭

From.Mrs. Dan Dare. Lol - We're in a porridge phase too. I love the variety of toppings. This morning was dried fig, dried apricot, stewed cinnamon apple, fresh banana, fresh blueberries, fresh grapes, pumpkin & flax seeds, honey and teaspoon of nut butter. Maybe I went just a wee bit over top there but it made me happy and as you say it's those small things. In the summer we change from porridge to over night oats. Naturally I go to town on those toppings too.

Yeees, nose oils to avoid nosebleeds! Wish more people were telling me about this when I moved to the Nordic countries. I literally had nosebleeds and started putting coconut oil in my nose with a swab and it smelled delicious and did the job haha

My favorite times of day are early mornings before the sunrise…just my dogs and coffee ❤… and just after sunset when I can curl up in my pajamas under a blanket and watch tv. I wonder how I would feel if there was no daylight to break that up. Right now it is a chili 28 degrees F and the sun is still rising. I think I need that part, too. Summer is my least favorite time of year due to the heat.

Well I'm sure she has those days too 🤷🏼♀️. We are all human lol but who would record themselves on lazy days ?? Lol
I live in the Canadian Sub-Arctic and in my part of town we aren't connected to the town's water or sewage lines, so we have two water tanks and one sewage tank in the crawl space under our house. We have water delivered three times a week and the sewage tank is pumped out twice a week.
I would be very interested in prints of the northern lights! I love all the cool tones and it is so peaceful but awe inspiring. Also, this might sound weird, but I think you could even put up a picture of your seating area/fireplace to be used as a virtual background (like for zoom meetings). It's so cozy and calming

I'm in the northern United States and while we don't have polar nights, some days it sure feels like it, lol. I'm up in the dark, at 6am to take my daughter to school (1 hour round trip), then I work from home (due to the panny) from 8am to 6pm and then gotta pick her up at 2:20 pm (another 1 hour round trip). I'm up when it's dark and don't finish my work day until it's dark. Then gotta make dinner and finally get a chance to relax around 7:30pm , go to bed around 10pm and do it all over again. I really screwed my sleep schedule up when I had 2 weeks off around Christmas. Went to bed very late and woke up very late. Last week was my first week back after the holidays and it was brutal lol.
Anyhow, my husband and I talked about your photos and agreed glacier photos with blue hues and Northern lights photos would be a couple we would purchase. 💙
I think glaciers for sure. Blue ice scenes and mid calving glaciers like just as it breaks apart. Which might be difficult but sounds amazing.

Honestly, anything you put in your print shop will be a hit!! You have such an eye for shooting the beautiful scenery of your home! Glaciers, snow covered anything, aerial views of anything, and of course, your beauuuutiful aurora lights will happily be gobbled up by me!💖
